I did not use hacks, but I'm fairly sure I benefited from them in D2. I used to be a pretty active trader on US East ladder, and everyone knows that most of the currency items (Highrunes, 290s, 3/20/20s, Perf Anni, etc) were duped using hacks. During nearly every ladder season I also ripped people off in trades terribly, some people didn't even know the value of things like eth death cleavers and one time I traded a shako for a nearly perfect COA.

I had my fare of hacking and botting in RPGs. I used a bot in Lineage 2 and plenty of hacks in counter strike. Of course i only used the wall hacks and aim for the fun of it.. I agree though, cheats and hacks always destroyed the game. took the fun out of it. but it was funny as hell when the whole team spawned and died within 5 seconds from headshots... across the map..

I used an item creator in Diablo (the original :o ) when I was really young. I didn't even see it as cheating - I just thought it was an easy way to get cool stuff (255/255 Staff of the Apocalypse, anyone?).
Stay positive!

I'll admit it. Runescape.

I played that game so many hours without actually being at my computer.

Hack for multiplayer games? Nope.

But I have tried using cheats on certain games.

Yes, when I used to play MoH:AA my clan ran a very popular server with modded maps (we found all the glitch points where you could get under the map and closed them with objects, amongst other things). Because the server got popular we got a lot of hackers, and I mean a lot. So a few of us downloaded some hacks to use as a counter offensive.

We would play clean 99% of the time, but when we suspected a hacker we turned on our wall hack and stalked them, the moment we confirmed they were cheating, we converged on them and used our hacks and better skill to constantly kill them until they left.... was way more effective than banning them, because they would just come back under a new name. Ruining the game for them by counter hacking and focusing them and no one else meant they would usually rq and never come back.

This was in a time before punkbuster was popular and anti hacking was more of an art than a science lol... wouldn't ever do this now as its not really needed anymore

Hacked a shit load in WoW.

Also did a lot of exploiting in WoW PvE but everyone in a good WoW guild has done a ton of that.

I crab walked once in Gears of War because everyone did it and I wanted to see what it looked like.

No.....no its not. Hackers always try to excuse themselves with common phrases like "everyone does/did it" or "you cant play the game without it".

Its 100% bullshit and everyone knows it.

It's the same as internet trolls in a way. Part of the fun is the reactions people have to it.

That was my motivation. You can call bs all you want. I know why I did it.

To be fair pvp was set up to almost encourage account sharing. Wanted rank 14. Better start account sharing. Did your best and only appropriately geared [class/spec] have to go. Have another hop on his account. Perhaps it's been made better since but I only know like classic wow when that stuff was necessary to stay competetive.

You admit what? Botting at runescape or playing runescape? Both of which are pretty embarrassing things to do. :p Just kidding!

I used bots with Ragnarok for a while and then I stopped, my friend sent me some hacks in CoD which I tried for about 15 mins and a few more which I can't think of right now.

I love trying out hacks in games just so I can easily tell if I'm playing with a hacker or not. I just try it once and not abuse it because for me hacks are pretty boring if you're winning just because of it.

Can't say I've ever used hacks, having played primarily console games my whole life. However, some multi-player games just have way too many glitches which people exploit quite heavily. Socom comes to mind. My friends and I used to love glitching through walls or glitching out of bounds on smaller maps when people would lag-switch or glitch against us. I remember games where everybody would be glitching like it was a normal strategy for everyone to be out of bounds.

Maphack in D2 and a trainer program in the original Diablo as well. Yes, I was that dirty bastard who'd roll a level 3 warrior and pretend to be begging for help to kill the butcher. I had quite the collection of ill-gotten ears =D

That's it for me though. I'm not sure what it was about the diablo games that lured me to the dark side and turned me into what I despised most.

I think maphacking is a great way to "dig into" and start to understand a game. If you don't understand the very basics of a game, maphacking can let you see what your opponent is doing without having to guess his moves. I have hacked in every single multiplayer game I ever played, and will continue to do so.

Thats what replays are made for.

Also,
I never hacked. But I cheated in "games that are only fun using cheats" like GTA where you just cheat yourself a jet and fly through the city destroying cars n stuff. But beyond that...nothing

I used a lot of hacks in WoW over the 3 years I played. Speed hacks, teleport hacks, MPQ model editing hacks, botting etc. Never got caught once.
