Personally i dont see any advantage in not using metric since i was raised with it all my life and it makes alot more sense.

1. Standard goes more naturally with fractions - quarter of a pint, half foot, etc. Technically, you don't say half meter but rather 50 centimeters or 500 millimeters. 2. Standard units are more practical and convenient. No one goes to the grocery to buy 400ml drink, instead, they buy it in 12 ounces. No one buys 5 meters of wood, instead, they buy it is 1x1x12, all in feet. The pros for Standard are only pros because you are used to it, it has nothing to do with a "foot or thumb" being easier to understand. As in what to use, use what is natural, when I am in the US I try to use Standard in conversations to be understood and the opposite in Sweden. But there are a few exceptions here, screens and bicycle tires are still meassured in "thumbs".

I mean, in C you use 0 for freezing ater and 100 for boiling, while in F you use 32 and 212. I would say a 0-100 system is easier to measure than 32-212... EDIT: according to wiki the F scale is official only in the US, Cayman Islands and Belize. Now that's stuborness.

Personally i was raised up using the standard measurements but after taking the time to understand the metric system, it simply just makes more sense to use it, and does not take long to learn.

Can you these same fast conversions with these ounce stuff ?

As for the US, they probably didnt want to adopt the system used by the people they just declared independence from. What im trying to say is that its just the way history turned out...

No, not in America, but in the rest of the world people do. :p It's just like with everything else, Wireless networking frequencies used etc. etc. America uses a different standard than all the rest of the world for completely unknown reasons.

US is one of the few countries that doesn't use metric... So the original poster has probably never been outside of the US.

I dunno I use both don't really care, both are good for what they are. Measuring something very accurately always use metric and decimals. Trying to give an estimate of distance, I just fine miles/inches much easier than their metric counterparts, cause I grew up with those distances.(ie, gas station is about 2 miles east down this road, etc) Everyone in america knows the metric system and uses it everyday so no need to start flame war jeez, people these days, can't we all just get along.

That metric people think it would be difficult to do math in imperial is a little disturbing. Sure, it is slightly more complex and a waste of time, but it isn't hard. P.S. if by "do" you meant "get published", then probably not.
