EDIT: Don't give a rats ass about whether or not they're called a DJ or a Producer or a song creator just want to listen to cool music.

Please let me open your eyes to the truly godly electronica: You better be trolling kiddo. No surprises this year, I don't think there is anyone who still considers these awards as prestigious. People who play local pub music on a large stage, ''DJs'' with stupid mouse masks that have never seen a turntable and other clowns that are playing pre-recorded sets are comprising the majority of this poll. Wake me up when Boy George wins the top 100.

I was completely blown away by them and the random DJ's I've picked off this list haven't all been to my liking.... at least nothing as awesome sounding as Nero. Please don't confuse DJs and producers...deadmau5, Skrillex, Nero et al have live sets where they press Play in iTunes and pretend to be doing shit, DJs are people who actually, y'know, DJ. Just search for generic mainstream dubstep, it all sounds pretty much the same, Skrillex, Nero etc.

Top 4 was predictable, Tiesto rank 3, mau5 rank 4 and then a tossup between Armin van Buuren and Guetta. Not liking the #1 Guetta spot though. And whats with the lack of representation from Drum & Bass? only Nero on the list. Atleast Andy C was on the list last year ![]() Yeah I was thinking if you're going on DJing talent, where the hell is Andy C? No Hype, no Friction? Noisia? On production skills, no Chase & Status or Netsky?

For something fairly close in style: Flux Pavilion, Rusko, Zeds Dead, Doctor P For stuff that's general bass music: Noisia, Feed Me, Brown & Gammon, Knife Party, Excision, Chase & Status, Bare, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Kill The Noise, Phaeleh For some really crazy mashup stuff, check out Ludachrist Tons of stuff, tons of styles. <3 the bass.

Armin, Ferry and Markus Schulz have moved from their respective trance subgenres to a more commercial approach of their sound , in pursuit of what Guetta, Avicii or SHM are known for. Pop is not their ground, and, clearly Guetta or SHM can pull more profit from this whole 'trouse pop' genre. Anyways what is this thing about everyone being friends and wanting to sound like Axwell, aoki, mau5, skrillex? Every single track on each different genre sounds the same.Either electro-wobbly fidgety or low bpm-repetitive happy supersaws and neverending rising pitches. Im happy for this, i prefer all trance to go a little back to the under scene, perhaps how it was around 2007 or 2005. Even promising names such as Arty or MatZo have fallen under this stupid new 'sellout pop trance' concept. Techno seems to always remain underground. I wish i liked techno a bit more ![]() Disregard that, Tiesto sounds like shit nowadays(5 years ago?).

Top 100 DJ chart is pretty silly. EDIT: Oh and grats Skrillex for making top 20 so fast. o.o Deadmau5 actually said something to the affect that he wasn't actually a DJ on his twitter account when the list was released.

I've been following Markus Schulz all the way since 2004 and I'm so disappointed in him these days. I still listen to his current sets a lot but damn, where is Markus from 2004-2007 when he was playing nice dark and deep trance. And Armin has fallen so low playing all that commercial trance, which is simply pop (and hence called pop-trance). Same with Ferry... I guess one has to switch to listen to guys who are really unknown to get "true" progressive or uplifting trance... Because all the famous guys play mostly generic crap...

He certainly isn't as technical or adept in djing as many other dj's, but his show overall is pleasing in different ways. He obviously has great production skills and his melodic style hits home with most people, and that's what happens in his sets as well. He primarily plays his own music and a lot of the times it's custom made mashups and unreleased material that you'll only find at his sets, and all of it has that typical avicii vibe. So if being a good dj means providing a good experience for the audience by playing the right tunes, creating an atmosphere with good peaks and lows, then avicii is definitely up there. If on the other hand it means you know how to do a lot of shit with turntables then probably no.
