He makes chill, Epik High/Nujabes-inspired beats. Some of his work is truly inspirational.

It's like John Fahey, a lot of people tend to think their works are improvisations but it's all composed. Did not know this. Van Morrison I have no problem believeing this about but - Django Reinhardt? No improvisation? Even in the Paris Hot Club period? 'Cause Stephane Grappelli was definitely an improviser. Edit: from wikipedia: Reinhardt's problems were compounded by the fact that the Nazis also officially disapproved of jazz. Reinhardt became interested in other musical directions, attempting to write a Mass for the Gypsies and Symphony (since he could not write music, he would perform improvisations to be notated by an assistant). His modernist piece Rhythm Futur was intended to be acceptably unjazzlike. Maybe that's what you're thinking of. I'm pretty sure Django was an improviser.

Individual musicians would have made this thread at least somewhat unique. There's a gazillion of these for bands. ha yeah i definitely should have thought of that when i made it it would be really unique to see just 1 artist. none the less the fact i make people choose only 1 for their whole lives still keeps it interesting, you see nothing but quality music in this thread AND i believe it's a great intro for others to get out of their box and into different genres. there is bit more leverage into giving other music a try when someone can say, this is the only person i chose over everyone else so there's definitely some reason as to why they're good or why you should give them a chance. none the less that shouldn't stop you from posting your 1 musician/ artist instead of a band.

I have found maybe 2 people ever who agree with me on this one so w/e. definitely doesn't exclude you. i would give your music a try if you whole heartedly believed he was the best you've heard. i've been there where i've felt no one understood my music or would even give it a chance so i know how that feels.

You've got to love Radiohead's nerdyness, too +1 Also +1 to Godspeed You Black Emperor as well. I couldn't pick just one artist or band, maybe from each genre of music. But that isn't the point of this thread.

To add to the the thread, Jon Schmidt deserve a mention for his innovative piano style.

Not only is his music great, but his songs have very very deep meaning, that I'm sure a lot of you could relate to. Some of it is literally amazing... His songs have literally changed my life in many ways as he's completely shown me a different perspective on how to view things. One of the best things, is that he is a completely down to earth man. I am going to post videos some videos displaying his talent Short Demonstration + Show Spoiler + My favorite song (was done yrs before switchfoot used the same riff) Abs amazing song, I relate to it so much it's disgusting + Show Spoiler + Relaxing + Show Spoiler + Relaxing + Show Spoiler + http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBp6n06cMeI] Alt Metal (Not sure what genre to put this album to really) + Show Spoiler + Just Epic + Show Spoiler + "Rock" (Vocal begin @2:10 but please listen to the before part to set the mood) + Show Spoiler + Metal + Show Spoiler + He also has a heavy metal banned "Strapping Young Lad" or SYL for short.
