We are extremely close to shutting down this thread for the same reasons the PUA thread was shut down. While some of the time this thread contains actual discussion with people asking help and people giving nice advice, it often gets derailed by rubbish that should not be here. The moderation team will be trying to steer this thread in a different direction from now on.
Posts of the following nature are banned:
1) ANYTHING regarding PUA. If your post contains the words 'alpha' or 'beta' or anything of that sort please don't hit post.
2) Stupid brags. You can tell us about your nice success stories with someone, but posts such as 'lol 50 Tinder matches' are a no-no.
3) Any misogynistic bullshit, including discussion about rape culture.
4) One night stands and random sex. These are basically brags that invariably devolve into gender role discussions and misogynistic comments.

Salazarz, some people just have nothing to say, and there are more productive ways to spend your time than to talk to people with the personality of a blank canvas. Equally there can be great experiences had with new people who are great fun to be around, the issue is more, you can't differentiate based purely on looks if somebody you're approaching will be your potential new best buddy or the most boring person in the planet.
At least approaching people solely for their hotness is something you can gauge with your eyeballs

Leave for college in a few months and have been spending a lot of time with a girl who lives literally down the street from me who's also going to college. We've known each other on and off since 1st grade but didn't really become good friends until junior year in HS.
Anyways, I've spent a lot of time with her since school got out, basically 11pm-2am or so every day. Watched movies alone at her house (or with a few other friends on occasion, taken nice night walks and such.
It sucks that she has a "thing" with another guy I know, because I've finally realized how fun it is to spend time with her. Their fling thing isn't serious and won't continue after the summer, but it's just so weird because I spend more time with her than he does and they have basically NOTHING in common.
I don't believe I've been friend zoned because I generally make her laugh a lot/ I just don't get that vibe. She's a pretty flirtatious person though so I don't tend to over analyze interaction with her.
Obviously since we're both going off to college in different areas in a few months, neither one of us is looking for anything serious. I'd just like to continue spending time with her and perhaps elevate my status to cuddle buddy (we're virgins and I'm not scheming for sex lol).
It's made my summer really fun so far; I'm a very social kid inside of school but don't really hang with people outside of school so it's nice to finally have someone I can spend time with just down the street. I feel bad because I've blown off hanging with her in the past, but it's definitely fun hanging out with her!
Ah well, we shall see what the future brings ;D

About that shyness stuff from a few pages ago.
Guys, never assume that it is part of your personality. I'm not saying it can't be, but unless you are introverted, there's a good chance that something can be done about it. And it's worth doing.
Credential : I used to be mad shy (like ending in a psy hospital for not being able to talk to a crush) and even believed myself to be introverted, and that it was who I were and nothing could be done about it. Now after years of working on myself (and not with the purpose of overcoming shyness, as I believed I was introverted), I discovered that I was far from the truth. I can engage conversation easily and make complete strangers laugh. It's not quite set yet, and I have still some work to do about it, but still.
TL:DR : work on your fucking self. Just makes your life better, and you might discover the baller you are under what you hold as true right now.
How's my dating luck ? Don't know, just starting. Wasn't that interested so far actually, and contrary to popular belief, I think it's fine. I'm 25 by the way.

Being introverted isn't a diagnosis, it's a tendency at best. On the other hand things like doing well in social situations is a skillset.
It doesn't matter if you initially enjoy it or not, doing well in social situations is something you can learn and improve at. By calling yourself "shy" or "introverted" and using it as a reasoning to not wanting to do well in social situations you're confusing the two above and limiting yourself with that belief.

I agree, guess I used the term as I used to believe it worked. And you said everything else much better than I did ^^

Edit : guess what I meant to say and can understand better now is where I actually was on the intro/extro scale. Not that it matters, in the end it's all about doing what I feel like doing and not overthinking stuff now.

Introversion just means that being around people drains energy while extraversion gives you energy.
Shyness is nkt being able to talk to each other and an introverted can be just as outgoing in situations as an extrovert while an extrovert can be very shy as well.
Like you said socialising is a skill and being introverted a bad excuse.

The stuff about giving/draining energy isn't as clear cut as you seem to imply. Or at least I don't feel it that way.
Some people will leave me energetic while some leave me tired. I tried to link it with them being introvert or extrovert but it doesn't compute.

Met a chemist on OkCupid. We hit it off after the third date (I don't give up after a couple dates if there is no chemistry right off, cuz sometimes it develops). She is awesome, we are good together, and I just moved in a couple weeks ago. Life is good.

I was stuck somewhere thinking they were referring to a QuickTime 3.14 girlfriend. I was worried I'd gone back in time. I'm glad someone cleared that up for me.
