We are extremely close to shutting down this thread for the same reasons the PUA thread was shut down. While some of the time this thread contains actual discussion with people asking help and people giving nice advice, it often gets derailed by rubbish that should not be here. The moderation team will be trying to steer this thread in a different direction from now on. Posts of the following nature are banned: 1) ANYTHING regarding PUA. If your post contains the words 'alpha' or 'beta' or anything of that sort please don't hit post. 2) Stupid brags. You can tell us about your nice success stories with someone, but posts such as 'lol 50 Tinder matches' are a no-no. 3) Any misogynistic bullshit, including discussion about rape culture. 4) One night stands and random sex. These are basically brags that invariably devolve into gender role discussions and misogynistic comments. Last chance, guys. This thread is for dating advice and sharing dating stories. While gender roles, sociocultural norms, and our biological imperative to reproduce are all tangentially related, these subjects are not the main purpose of the thread. Please AVOID these discussions. If you want to discuss them at length, go to PMs or start a blog. If you disagree with someone's ideologies, state that you disagree with them and why they won't work from a dating standpoint and move on. We will not tolerate any lengthy derailments that aren't directly about dating. | ||

Shit sucks. The good lookers are always taken or uninterested. Or complete broads. Call me shallow, but my standards are set pretty high, and I have a pretty specific preference.. perhaps that's part of a reason why i'm in this drought. (get the pun?) | ||

But I definitely had a girlfriend when I was in high school that after I broke up with her, and started dating another girl, she ended up at the other girl's house trying to fight her after our first date. I mean she was crazy. You have to look out for those ones. At least I will never forget the look in her eyes .. I'm 30 now and I'm kinda giving up on finding that special someone for me. No real luck with that so far and I'm growing tired of it. Lately I'm enjoying being single and I tend to need a lot of time alone. Sure sometimes I feel lonely, but what can you do. You can't force your luck unfortunately The only thing that kind of bothers me, is that my job is the only constant thing in my life. I was never a person to value having a job or seeing it as something to fulfill your life... the only thing that I kind of wanted was having a nice family... the thing I just can't succeed it. May sound if I'm maybe trying to hard, but I'm actually not. Maybe I'm just too boring for most of the women out there. I'm a little shy, don't like to go out very much but I still know how to have a fun time and can be a fun person to be around. I'm not a pushover nor the other way around. I'm just your every day nice guy (who will finish last) | ||

probably long, not really entertaining but genuine analysis of my situation right now, so move along if you want to read something fucked up + Show Spoiler + There is this one girl from grade 8 though whom I had a crush on at that time but couldn't come up with the confidence to communicate my feelings, although I think she probably felt similar. We ended up in different schools afterwards and then I also went abroad for one year to Sweden, so obviously I missed my chance there and our contact kind of faded away slowly over time. Fast forward 3 years, now at university, my friend had some spare tickets to a nice prom to give away. Obviously you want to go there with a girl, so I just asked her out of the blue if she'd like to go with me (it wasn't even meant so seriously, although I now reckon that it was maybe quite a bold move. But I genuinely just would have liked to see her again). Unfortunately due to other duties she had to decline, but from then on we started to text again and I finally got to meet her about two weeks ago. We spent all afternoon together catching up what the other one has done in the past 5 (6?) years or so (yes, I am such a huge slacker). I truly didn't meet her with any too specific intentions in mind obviously, not having met her for so long and not even being sure if I even could still claim to know her anymore. However, fascinatingly we developed quite similarly, and obviously old feelings slowly began thawing again (based on my improving knowledge of her, although I must admit that I found her looks surprisingly charming as well, even though that maybe is just my brain doing its part as well). We came to the point where we were just casually discussing relationships of friends (and their dreams) and then obviously also ours, and while doing so I kind of realized that she has all the things I think I am looking for in a girl... However, she has a boyfriend now and I now don't really know how I should approach this. My feelings tell me that she'd be a perfect match for me and that I should at least try approaching her (although my brain questions if this is a reasonable conclusion and not just a nice illusion). However, with her having a boyfriend I don't really want to risk my friendship with her and in general truly want her to be happy (if that involves me that would be even nicer ofc..). So I dont know how I should approach it. Since I have met her, my brain somehow locked down, making me ignore the few other girls that I get to meet... so I am in some kind of dead end. Anyone got some advice on how to proceed? From talking to friends I figured I should just try to intensify contact while trying to catch her signs (and maybe send mine), but the fool I am, I think will probably be too stupid for these games... I definitely don't want to make the same mistake again and just let time fly away and miss my shot (again). | ||
