Yup in WC3 lore is really really rich then WoW came out and everyone you thought died came back alive and people never die now.
Couldn't agree more. When they brought Illidan back for TBC i was like BULLSHIT I SAW HIM DIE YOU LAZY PRICKS!!!!! Not to mention kael'thas x3 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Illidan wasn't brought back for tbc, he never died in the first place.
I'm no expert but this movie has been coming out for 2+ years now. Don't get your hopes up. It'll let you be pleasantly surprised when it does come out.

I'm sorry, when we all played TFT when it was fresh and new, he died. We saw him get killed and arthas walk to the top. It wasn't untill well well after they said he was "unconscious"

Play again, he wasn't killed, he just ran away injured.

After a long battle, and control going back and forth between the two enemies, Arthas activated all obelisks, and the doors to the Frozen Throne were opened.
But Illidan was not finished yet. Meeting the weakened Arthas at the glacier's base, the two warriors engaged in single combat. After a few minutes of exchanging blows, however, Arthas overcame Illidan's defenses and cut him down. Illidan Stormrage fell in the snow, dead, or so it seemed. He was badly wounded, but not killed. Arthas was quite aware of this, and before taking his leave, warned Illidan to leave Azeroth and never return. After it became clear for Vashj and Kael that they could not destroy the Frozen Throne, they retreated, eventually back to Outland, taking Illidan with them.
Note that the in-game animation between Illidan and Arthas was originally planned to be a video cinematic. Time constraints, however, forced the scene to be done inside the game. The developers have said that their greatest regret about this change is that many assumed Illidan died, when the video would have revealed that Illidan survived to watch Arthas's transformation.

Blizzard's stated over and over that they didn't intend for it to appear that way.
They ran out of time and had to rush the cinematic, otherwise it would have been a lot more epic and no one would have thought Illidan was dead.
For all intensive purposes though, he did die, in that in TBC, he's a completely different character than the Illidan from WC3. WC lore really did die after WC3, WoW is just an abomination in terms of WC lore.
Still my favorite cinematic ever:
I hope the movie doesn't have Illidan in it at all tbh, they will probably fuck him up even more than WoW did.
Anyways, what exactly is the new information about the movie in this thread?

Na, there was plenty of people on WoW who loved it for whatever reason when I still played WoW. Most people who have played WoW never played WC3 though, I bet I wouldn't really have a problem with WoW lore if I had never played WC3.

Well, that was all released well well well after the expansion had come and gone. It was retconned, regardless of what they say. He died, they needed a new a villain. Wallah, retcon. IDC what tripe they are feeding us, they could have easily shown him looking up or kneeling up to see arthas walk away even within the ingame cinematic.
