You guys are so lucky T_T In fact by now, pretty much all file sharing sites have been blocked here. Rapidshare, Megaupload, Mediafire, Fileserve, Filesonic, and Hotfile are all down. ![]() Can you access TPB?

Basically what you said there implies all torrents are illegal, and he was sarcastically saying that linux torrents are illegal. And to the OP, I don't think it'll make much of a difference really. Torrents work so well for most people as it is that I don't see this working out so well. I mean I guess it would be handy for a few instances but all in all I still think torrents are better ![]() originally meant to say "it's not illegal in any way" in my head, but my fingers didn't seem to have typed those out... and he already posted before I could edit it anyways... I guess either way works though

I think they gave up, since it was too much effort.

Also, this new site is not comparable to the pirate bay at all. On most (all?) torrent search engines you can download as much and whatever you want for free and don't have to make any kind of account if you don't want to (Except Demonoid, maybe a few others, but the account itself is free). The point of torrents is that they are completely free, this site is not completely free. Also, the site isn't completely anonymous unless you use an anti-tracking program like Ghostery (google it), as every single site you go to is tracked by Google Analytics, Facebook or other similar things, and I'm pretty sure your ISP can find out anything you've been doing as well no matter what.

Correct me if I'm wrong but downloading torrents isn't illegal, at least in Canada. Also, this new site is not comparable to the pirate bay at all. All sites aren't anonymous at best this site is hosted in some state that would allow it not to keep track of any of it's users but sense you can register as a user they are keeping track of you and thus can be subjected to subpoena if court cases are bought against it just like any file hosting site.

Because its impossible to get viruses from torrents, right? -_- On September 03 2011 03:35 Mohdoo wrote: I don't understand the draw to these types of services. Big files always have multiple parts, which means you need to download multiple things, but sites like megaupload and whatnot only let you download 1 file at a time ![]() The advantage of DDL is that it isn't a torrent. First, its a little more difficult for companies to trace your IP compared to torrents (do note that more difficult does not mean impossible). Second, torrents can sometimes be poorly seeded, if they are seeded at all. This is a particularly big problem with old or unpopular torrents. Contrast that with DDL, which offers the advantage of a relatively constant download speed. As for dealing with multiple files, well, that's what download managers are for.

You have services like Rapidshare, Netload, Megaupload, Wupload, fileserve, filesonic, x7, ul, and so forth since ages. Rapidshare is up since 2004, with a revenue of 5 million euro per month and is ranked in the top 100 in traffic rank (most of the time). Torrent is dead.
