So I snooped around a bit and i didn't find one yet for this year. Saw one for 2011 and 2007, but if I'm wrong just close this thread and link me if you could? ;D
But anyway Back to being on topic
THIS IS IT! This is where we shine, this is where we take the lead. We are the big dogs walking through the halls and everyone else knows and respects that. I would like to have this thread open to discuss many certain things.
First off, has your impression of how you view yourself compared to the underclassmen changed? Do you feel like your the bigger person, you walk tall in hallways, and feel like a force to be reckoned with? I know I get this feeling a bit I mean this is my last year to enjoy high school.
Second, do you plan on getting more involved with school/or stay very involved if you are? I personally moved from school district to school district every 2-3 years so it was hard to fit in all the time so i stayed out of most activities and became more or less a loner D:. But this year I plan on going to most or all of the dances I can, try to attend sport events, and just do anything I can really. What about you guys?
Another is how did you guys schedule? All easy classes, hard AP classes or in the middle with a bit of both? Also where are you attending school and are you guys required to do Senior Projects in order to graduate? It be cool to see a general description of other seniors out there, how they are thinking, and what they are doing about it and such. I took a bit of the mid range classes. I have some Honor's and average mixed and didn't really feel like applying myself to school as much as I could have because of the whole moving thing. I also attend Ambridge Area High School, in Ambridge and our Senior Project consists of a 25 hour project where we job shadow, community service, or anything really and write a few papers and give a 10 minute speech about it.
I plan on doing mine on a StarCraft 2 25+ hour non - stop playing marathon for a charity sometime within next few months.
So what do you guys plan on doing?
Also a big question probably the biggest one is, after High School, where are you going, what are you going to do and such? This is where people take their big step in deciding what their future outlook is going to be. I hopefully will be going to community college and working trying to manage everything but if I fail somewhere and I'm becoming swamped with too many things and I can't really find a way out, I think I might as well join the Navy and try to become a Seal. Was always fascinated with those guys
And finally, the best for last, have you guys been thinking about senior pranks? I myself haven't put too much thought but its always great to hear what others have got to say. So what are they?
You don't have to answer everything, this is just a basic conversation starter/helper for all the other seniors on TL currently ;D
also, this definantly seems like it wins my vote for a while.

I plan on finishing my college apps early!!!!

what are you going to do and such?
College->Job->Family.
And finally, the best for last, have you guys been thinking about senior pranks?
We had a new head principal last year and threatened to withhold diplomas for everyone in the senior class if they did a senior prank.
I don't think our class cares this year.
|
I have almost all AP classes, but they're on the easier end of AP classes: Gov, Enviro, English (teacher is easy), Calc AB, and Psych. Haven't thought much about Senior pranks and also we have senior halloween at my school so idk what to do for that either! plz share any cool ideas you guys have
|
I'm gonna suffer through this last year of being controlled by people I don't like. Then I'm going to take a year off to go to Germany, then head to college and get it out of the way. Then, live my life like a boss. Honest to God this is my plan right now...
ALL of the underclassmen thought they could be us and be bad bad, but now the cops around here govern them. They are very bad kids, and I really hope my brother heading into high school next year doesn't act like them.
And all of my classes are easy, just because the teachers I have this year don't really care and just want to help us get just enough done to graduate and be ready for college. :D

Yea I don't know if they can actually hold diplomas, if anything they can not make you walk at graduation but I mean if you graduate your going to get your diploma regardless....Unless if you get expelled..
and It would be nice to just be over and done with this year and get everything else started but it feels like I'm gonna miss it a lot.

Meh I don't really walk around like I'm the shit compared to freshman cause I always hated when upperclassmen were like that.
I have gotten more involved in school and extracurricular activities to try to help boast my college application.
I scheduled all hard classes; I've been trying to catch up last year and this year on my weaker-than- should-be GPA. There aren't any really big senior projects but for AP English Lit. we have to make a senior scrapbook by the end of the year. I also plan on retaking the ACT in a couple weeks.
After high school I plan on going to college. I have my college choices narrowed down to like 8 schools: Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern, Tufts, NYU, University of Texas at Austin, Case Western, and back up hometown school University of Texas at Arlington. The plan is if I choose to go to one of the schools with a nursing program (BU and Tufts don't have one), I plan on majoring in nursing or if I go to one of those two without a nursing program I'll major in Biology. After that I plan on going to grad school and becoming a physician assistant.
No idea about the senior prank :-/.

Woot woot! i go to western canada highschool and i plan to win that there robotics competition my teachers expect me to win

The one year later you're freshies all again.

considering that this is the only senior prank we heard of yet, you sir, are winning whats the best senior prank you can think of right now..
@ to livelovedie, you have quite a lot of options you opened up for yourself. I say good luck to you and get into the one you like. I find looking and applying to colleges seems early considering tomorrow if my fourth day but I'm just not on the bandwagon yet I guess

WHOOO SENIORS!!!!!!!!
I realized how mature I was as a freshman compared to the freshmen that I had to deal with. (I never ran around the locker room screaming like a girl O_o)
But yeah... all IB Classes, senior year is hell for me BUT I WILL DO IT!!!
|
Really excited to finally be a senior, we can finally win class competitions. I am taking mostly AP classes like English, World History, Calculus, Biology and Math of Engineering (not AP, but a pretty difficult class). I have wanted to get into University of Michigan for engineering since I have been 6, so I have been working really hard the last few years to get in including doing about 60+ hours of voluenteering this summer alone.
The senior prank last year was the seniors writing bow down on all the junior's cars, so I hope we can do something much better.
glhf to all the seniors!

Schedule: Differential Equations AP Psychology AP Comparative/American Government combined AP English Literature AP Physics C: Mechanics AP Statistics Advanced Piano/PE
Applying to: University of Washington (1st choice--yes, over Stanford) University of California, Berkeley University of California, Irvine Stanford University
Going to UW because it's cheap... applying to UCs/Stanford pretty much only because my parents want me to have a few safety schools (UCs) and are illogically hopeful that I'll somehow get magically accepted into Stanford with enough financial aid to make it worth my time. Also thankfully I got all of the work-intensive APs over with in sophomore/junior year so I get to take all the easy ones now--just as I planned in freshman year, actually.
I'm going to double major at UW in Finance and Biochemistry and then go to a top-ranked graduate school for my PhD in Biochemistry. Planning on marrying after my PhD is awarded, moving back to my parents' house with my wife, starting a family, and most importantly finding a job in Seattle so my parents can transition into part-time work (and hopefully eventually retire in peace). Not quite certain about Finance, though, although I do need some sort of backup undergraduate major.
I really have changed a lot since freshman year. I'm not particularly inclined to disclose how, though, although I will say that I have become much more mature. Also, I seem to have increased considerably in intelligence.
As far as Starcraft goes my goal is GM by the end of the school year as well as C+ on ICCup.
I was thinking about getting more involved but I came to realize that that was just on account of people putting pressure on me to be extroverted when I would much rather read a book or play Starcraft than go to some silly social event with many people in attendance. Thank goodness I realized that in time! Similarly, I will not be participating in any sort of senior prank. Total waste of my time.

2011 here, you guys, for the love of god, PLEASE SIGN UP FOR EVERY GRANT/FINANCIAL AID YOU CAN if you haven't already. I was so happy when I found out that my first 2 semesters were totally covered financially by grants and aid. :D It'll help sososo much, especially since I see so many of you are going to the good schools, I only got into my local school but it's alright.
HF GL GG!

Promise you it gets so much better after senior year.... High School is such a joke lol

Jeeze, I feel stupid because I've never taken an AP course in high school lol. Everyone here has apparently. Also, I have to go to a state college.

you all make me feel old

I'm a part of the class of 2011 but I have some advice for you kidletts. first off, get college apps done early. It will save you so much stress and you'll feel like a boss when you get accepted in 2 weeks as opposed to 2 months. Get good grades this last year, and if you need to retake the ACT and SAT. Also, regarding senior pranks:
The class of 2009 at my school took an SUV, cut it in half, and welded it back together around the flagpole in the front of the school. I have no pics but let me tell you, it was epic, as if a car had been speared after falling from above. If you do this or something similar you must take photos and start a thread for it.
|
Heres an idea for all you senior pranksters - superglue a truck tire from the dump/salvage to the middle of a frequently used hallway. Use a lot of superglue. Simple, completely random, and incredibly disruptive to the school, its a trifecta of mischief. Hardest part is getting keys to the school for after hours, luckily one of my friends was the nephew of a janitor who didn't care much for his job. Have fun younguns.

last year of high school. Woot. I actually cant wait for university. Goals aside from academic ones...hmm cant really think of any.

Glad to finally see another IB kid on the second page. When I ctrl+f'd "IB" and "international" on page one and got no results I may or may not have made a Flash face.
So yeah, I have all IB classes too. I don't mind the work load or anything (we're like 4 weeks in to school already here and it seems like it's going to be less work than Junior year) except for the fact that most of my non-IB friends have half days. Dat 4 period schedule. Dat free time. Dat time on the ladder... I'm jelly.
As for the future, I'm hoping it contains broadcasting Stanford football games (and a mega-hipster indie rock college radio show), as I have some really unique, really good broadcast journalism extracurriculars, the standard 3.8whatever unweighted with the toughest classes my school offers and (hopefully) an IB diploma and SAT/ACT scores that put me in the middle of the pack among those accepted there. So yeah, list would be something like:
1. Stanford 2. UC-Berkeley 3. University of Southern California 4. Pomona College 5. UC-Irvine/Los Angeles/wherever 6. The dreaded Arizona public universities :O
This is the real issue with California going completely broke - if I get in to Stanford I'm getting a free ride on need based financial aid (who's laughing now, people who don't have to play SC2 on low with a tiny resolution?), whereas any of those UC schools probably won't throw money at me. Out of state tuition is hilariously high, so us young quasi-intellectuals of the hick state of Arizona have our options rather limited =/
Definitely showing more school spirit this year. I've always been involved with clubs (drama kid and then the various honor societies), but this year I'm actually chanting at the pep rallies and whatnot. Of course, at my school they always play games at pep rallies (pie eating contest/themed relay race type stuff), and they're always rigged for the Seniors, so that's nice too.
We've been throwing around prank ideas, nothing good enough to report yet, captain.
And no, I didn't make this account to post here, I made it to play GSTL. Goddamn DRG crushing my team while still breaking my heart in individual leagues :_(

I wish being a senior in college was cool like it was in high school. Now instead of being the wild senior who goes to all the parties and has fun you're the 22 year old dude who takes his major seriously and can't go wild because you have (insert absurd assignment) to do.
|
my plan is to win the senior challenge, aka first person to get with a freshmen, everyone pitches in money and winner gets a tv!
|
I was a 2011 senior and I'll just say that getting accepted by that one university that you wanted to get into will be one of the happiest moments of your life.

Classes in High schools in the US are confusing, Honours, AP and Scholarship. So many different options :S. In New Zealand we just have regular classes and then scholarship.
Anyway.
Classical studies Scholarship Classical studies Statistics Scholarship Statistics English Scholarship English Calculus (like hell i am doing 4 scholarship classes) Computer science (as if there was a scholarship option for this)
Also you guys in the states have so many options for high end universities. New zealand has 3-5 or so. Auckland University, Wellington University, Christchurch and AUT. I have definite entry to Auckland (assuming i don't somehow fail every single one of my end of year exams) which is the best university in the country (and is also in the most retarded place to get to daily, i hate you Auckland city parking and public transport).

I'm actually quite fond of the 2012 Seniors in my school. They've generally treated me well, and some of them are great teammates on my tennis team. Having said that, I dislike my grade, the sophomores, and the freshmen. They suck.
|
You all just made me feel super old... (I'm really not that much older than you!)
But good luck class of '12. College isn't as scary as it sounds!
|
This year is going to be hard for me, this semester I have 4 AP classes... My only non AP class is gym. I hope that my hard work will pay off but I guess I wont know until I get an acceptance letter.
|
I feel like the only people listing their college choices are the top 5% of their class, making me qq So, here are my college choices 1. Indiana University (instate - scholarships = cheapcheap) 2. Miami of Ohio (out of state - scholarships = ?? ) 3. Anywhere University, USA
I'm not sure where I can actually get in because my extracurriculars barely exist, my grades are good and SATs are good. Also, I have no idea what I want to study (comp sci?) so I figure IU is my best bet for an undecided major. I can always transfer, right?
|
Finish University applications early, do my IB exams, and probably stop gaming for a while.
|
Apply for college, play starcraft.
|
Yea alot of these people her definatly seem like they are the top of the class! Lol. I mean I took some Honors, could've taken AP but I reaaly slacked like no other. And now reading this thread is making me feel reeeal dumb D:
