The value is artificially held high because diamonds don't reenter the market often & most of the supply is held and only a small amount is let out. | ||

There is a lot of technology that the public does not know about What do you think they do at Area 51 or in the Swiss Laboratories that are talked about in Angels and Demons by Dan Brown etc etc etc (These are just two examples I can think of that might be plausible, the truth is there are places we don't readily know about that are working on technologies that already "have" changed the world, just not to the public eye) If it's true, then surely this will be groundbreaking. Finally something to keep the fucking oil and gas companies out of my homeland and beautiful farmlands/forests and break my own dependency on oil. | ||

Regarding the supposed efficency of the reactor - it's still cheaper and less polluting than coal, and nickel is abundant, which is the "big deal" in this case. It might not replace current means of creating energy, but it'll be a huge suppliment to it. | ||

Most of it, especially a whole lot of the important stuff, is not peer-reviewed. It's patented. As they're industrial processes, normally, where most of the work is done. That type of stuff isn't terribly peer-reviewable. It might be based off some ideas from journals, but huge amounts of that work is just simply proprietary information and very valuable. Really, it's a matter of waiting until October to see if anything happens. In the mean time, hope really hard that the team working on the Polywell comes up big soon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polywell Which actually is the closest to a functional Fusion reactor that's currently out there, for generating electricity. | ||

The second one is to make a device that is commercially viable, make a ton of money and shut up any criticism that way. Trying to prove that this couldn't possibly work is a waste of effort. I just don't think their work deserves any outside attention before it's distinguishable from all the cheap energy hoaxes out there. | ||
