With the amount of coverage and exposure this got from both the scientific & non-scientific community, it would've been foolish of the buyer(s) not to hire independant checkers to verify what they're purchasing. Yes they might not know the details of how it works, but they should at least be able to check that a certain amount of energy is being produced from a certain amount of materials. I still cannot fathom how this can be a scam though. It's so out in the open. Lets assume that this is pretty fucking expensive. Then lets assume that this company obviously has a bunch of money. Then lets assume that this company was understandably cautious. Considering there are probably multiple people in this company who are directly overseeing this whole negotiation/purchase, I am going to assume they had some sort of 3rd party to help verify their claims and whatnot. If this company bought it, I think it might be about time to be happy. I'm just thinking that it would take a huge lapse of judgement from a lot of people to somehow spend that much money on a fake. When is it time to start considering this might be the real deal? Don't we expect that such a feat will be accomplished at some point? I realize you agree with what I am saying, I am just expanding on your thoughts. I for one am very optimistic.

From PESWiki: Q & A just finished; reading of results; 470 kW maintained continuously during self-sustain; customer satisfied; sale made; more later. – SilverThunder 11:07, 28 October 2011 (PDT) saw this on e-catworld.com what?? :D

Apologies, the live stream thing was outdated info. Expect coverage very soon though, possibly still today. Ny Teknik is certain to report as soon as possible: http://www.nyteknik.se/taggar/?tag=Cold Fusion There should also be other reports coming up since the Associate Press has acquired rights to today's event and the plant was apparently sold. Associate Press services 5000 radio and TV channels around the globe. The Italian magazine Focus was also present. A, in my opinion, fair discussion and introduction to the whole story so far can be found here http://ecatnews.com/?p=84 and here http://ecatnews.com/?p=174 (it's a primer in two parts, read the first link first)

EDIT: "Its just an excerpt from Rossi's report. Hope to have a story up at PESN by 1 am Italy {+1GMT}" PESNetwork@Twitter EDIT2: A short video of the test of the one megawatt plant.

EDIT: and I'm ready eat my words if it actually proves to be something of value, I highly doubt it though. EDIT: Response to the so called experiment and report that "proved" that it worked according to some people with scientific knowledge: Still no evidence for nuclear reactions(copy and paste) "...1. Your subtitle, or summary statement, is misleading. Two of the three analysts said that the data suggest excess energy is produced, by which is meant nothing more than the 100-kg ecat produced heat. But "anomalous heat" usually means heat that can't be accounted for by chemical means. Since the contents of the ecat was only superficially examined, there is no evidence at all that the heat produced, if any, comes from nuclear reactions. 2. So, Rossi can't even convince 2 electrical engineers and 1 software engineer (who is a LENR advocate). Where are the detailed analyses from people with advanced degrees in physics, and in particular with expertise in fluid flow and calorimetry? Wasn't that the idea of this demonstration, and all the high level physicists that were to be present? 3. The thermocouple placement is such an obvious shortcoming, that detailed analyses seem like wasted effort, when there is nothing stopping Rossi from doing it with more appropriate placement of the thermocouples. Moreover, the unnecessarily high flow rate in the secondary flow results in a temperature difference only a little larger than the inexplicably erratic temperature fluctuations (probably also because of the poor placement of the probes). It seems Rossi is deliberately making interpretation difficult, to prolong the uncertainty. 4. One thing that is clear from this demonstration, that has not been mentioned by ny teknik, is that although this is a later model ecat, that is both larger and heavier than previous ecats, the claims are much more modest than in previous public tests. In January, Rossi used a 30 kg device, and he claimed 12 kW, and a gain of something like 20. The device was also said to be capable of operating (dangerously) without input. In the Oct 6 test, the device is 100 kg, and the claimed output is only 3 or 4 kW, giving a claimed power density 10 times lower. The overall gain, by the most optimistic estimates is on the order of 6. So, by finally persuading Rossi not to depend on a controversial phase change to demonstrate energy output, the claimed performance has been drastically reduced. Besides the fact that the more modest claim does not require nuclear reactions to explain it (even if valid), this should also be seriously damaging to Rossi's credibility, since it suggests that the previous steam tests were grossly mis-analyzed."....

The fact the customer still isn't identified is dumb. The fact he sold it to "someone" doesn't help anything.

Why were the heat exchangers hidden behind high walls, so no one could control their temperature? Why was the "test" only running 3 hours and not for several days?

Honestly, if you really had something that worked, you wouldn't black box it and give everyone room to doubt you.

He doesn't want to release the technology to the world and then have everyone steal it and patent it before he could. It's a smart move on his part.

Yesterday's test was very significant, even if it was too short for us internet critics to rule out a possible deception. That is not important however - what matters is that the scientific advisers of the customer were convinced that it worked. The test was not made for us, but for them, and frankly, they are certainly in a better position to judge whether it works or not. So the outcome of this is: Rossi will get the 500k Euro necessary to start independent testing at the University of Bologna (or run away laughing in the unlikely chance that he did somehow pull off a fraud) Either way we will find out. Also, as usual the overt skeptics are faster than those carefully analyzing the situation - more info and opinions will come out in the next days ![]()
