I got this idea while reading a "Show your Desktop" Thread on some Website.
Most people look at the Background Image and maybe some tweaks that someone made to their OS. But i started looking what people actually have at their desktop (Folders/Files/etc) and started to profile them with some very funny insights.
So the Rules for this Thread:
If you want to show your Desktop, take a screenshot from your Desktop,Upload the Image to TL and write a post like:
Mine:

(Picture of your Desktop should be in the spoiler )
If you have discovered something just quote the last reply to said Desktop, or if there is no reply so far, quote the original post from the user (Add spoiler tags pls!).
I will collect a best-of in the OP in the case TL likes it
Please no Desktops with nothing on it! KEEP IT SFW!

I'd say your a typical gamer with some love for technology. You not only have steam and starcraft II plus some extras, you also have some icons for your comp temp and monitor, which means you may have built your own computer :D You also like to listen to the House genre as you play games, a very chill dude I'd say. You may even like to read. And of course, you support TL

You are definantly a vivid gamer who enjoys to play casually but also hardcore. You listen mainly to trance music when playing games, you have a vast general knowledge of computers and judging from your ebook folder you prefer to do most things electronically if possible :D
Hmm I'm interested in this thread but I keep my desktop too bare for it to be really worth it. How does having a few select windows open sound? My righthand monitor always has those windows up, lefthand is moreso folders showing the files that some might have scattered around. I've got so much shit I try to keep mostly organized.
as said before, a raw unedited printscreen. Enjoy!
I would say: BW Player/Fan (ICCup/Daum), probably installed Win7 64 not long ago (w7ddpatcher). Wow and Steam also present so at least a medicore gamer. You're creative with Video/Audio and you are working on a project right now. I would say you are male, in your early 20's you listen to Electronic Music and you're rocking a Sony Smartphone.

OK, im guessing you play alot of games. From the configs of your desktop im assuming you are not only a casual gamer but like to win, and get the optimal settings to win! You play zerg (duh!) and im gonna go with a guess of masters here. You like games with skills involved since you have Bloodline Champions installed. You play single player games, but only once to play through the story.
Appearantly you know atleast something about hardware seeing as you have Core Temp installed. Overclocking? I guess you do atleast some.

Some interesting things in this one. I would say: You're a very organized Person that works with PC's at Home and at Work (maybe freelancer?) You're on top with Programming and you play Poker at least halfway serious (neteller transactions, poker budget, poker folder in Programming maybe a bot or statistic tool?) You moved a short while ago or you're in the process of moving, and it seems your car got stolen. It seems that you're not just creative with programming but also with music production (started some time ago to publish stuff on myspace??) You have a really mixed and in my Opinion nice Music Taste (TALIB KWELI YEAH!!), and you're enjoying OneClickHosters !
I hope i don't get to personal, but it seems that you are trying to enhance your body and your sex life.
Overall, you're a male and i would say you're somewhere at the age of 30, and not as much of a gamer, except for WAR3 and SC?

Hah that was fun, pretty spot on.... You're right with ALMOST everything, I'll note the exceptions:
-myspace folder wasn't for music (though you were right i dabble in songwriting), just an archive of my old deleted myspace profile with wall comments and messages. -my car itself wasn't stolen, but my stereo system and other stuff in it was. bastards. -dunno what oneclickhosters is -- you mean where i have hosting for the image itself? i use dreamhost.com -definitely not "too personal" to comment on a file i showed publicly =] (ps: shitty ebook. basically turns "do kegels" into 80 pages) -i'm 24 and yeah don't game much anymore, though i do hope to get back into gaming with sc2 sometime

Im one of those people that loves playing the weakest option that requires skill to win with. I play Gunner in BLC (arguably the hardest ranged because of weak survivability), and im rank 1 plat on ladder. (zerg obviously )
I do play single player games only once, unless they aren't linear
CPU was recently overclocked
And ive been editing my CSS config, as im trying to get back into the competitive scene

I would say: Congratulations on your new PC! I would not buy Office, Openoffice offers almost everything MS-Office does. You are a competitive gamer that wants to improve, and you like skill based games. And I hope you're using Torrent only for none copyright content.
Please tell me you made up this notes for the screenshot!
Here's mine. I like to be uncluttered so there isn't much here. But my dock is open so you can see everything there, and the hotkeys on the sc2 bar are also programs.
-SC2 Competitive Gamer? -Unsafe filesharer (Limewire/Torrent) -Roleplayer -You like old Gaming Systems -You're writing short storys? (As far as my french goes The little Pencil?) -You're producing music -You're owning an Ipod (probably Touch) -You're in the Process of making your Taxes -You got a new mobile phone a short while ago?
Because of the NES folder i would say you're at least 26-27?

I speak french as you guessed Not competitive at all, and didn't start playing DnD yet, but about to. I used torrents once and stop using Limewire a long while ago I'm writing songs actually, not short stories, but yes it means The Little Pencil Not producing music, but composing (or is it the same thing in english?) Old gaming systems are life =) Owning an iPod touch What are Taxes? No, don't have mobile phone, that's actually why I stock my phone numbers on my computer.
Fresh-ish out of college 30 oldest, techy, gamer, likely neat and tidy, and hmmmm..... can't tell much else. GG I guess. Nice desktop though!

Welp, I'm afraid just posting my desktop wouldn't do much since all my programs are run using winKey+R. So I'll post that folder with all of its contents!
Note: I edited the folder to get all the icons in, naturally. Some programs that I used to run, but uninstalled, don't have an icon (like sc2 or d2). That part of the desktop is just black so the folder doesn't cover anything. Note2: They're not just programs, you'll notice a folder called 'desk' (my folder for everything), 3 firefox shortcuts each launching a different profile, etc.
Good luck! Although I think you will be way off.. now that I look at these shortcuts -.^ They're a reminder of an old me.. heh.
I wonder what you guys can say about me, everything seems to be so random
You're clearly a musician. You don't like your voice, or you don't like people to hear your real voice on skype. You're probably someone intuitive with a lot of imagination. You like absurd stuff.

Aside from the obvious of you being a gamer (99% of the people on TL are), you're a big fan of pokemon games, have played BW previously, your computer has an nvidia video card, i'm going to guess gtx 460, you're in high school, play some sort of musical instrument, most likely piano, and i'm going to guess you're asian? :D

both are you look like you're in high school. dhe, are you asian? you two are basically late teenagers with too much free time that you can play like 10 different games, do different hobbies (like music), etc. loathed seems like a serious gamer. dhe95 probably hasn't cleaned his room in some time.

Maybe- You like to be organized but can't be bothered to do so for nothing, like cleaning up shortcuts. "Old" on internet standards at least. Don't play that much anymore. Kind of an ordinary guy I guess? D: But with more computer knowledge than most. Calm? Now I'm really guessing.

As for the illegitimately obtained games and music, yes I've been bad. And I'm unfortunately pretty obsessed with SC2 although I don't even like it that much (weird love-hate relationship).

What about Microsoft Visual Studio?
MS Visual studio as well as Cygwin Wireshark, Nmap, putty, Python, lcc-win23 and eclipse are all stuff related to coding and general computer stuff which is my profession.
This got me excited because it reeks of criminal minds (which I love)...without the killing people part. I now wish my desktop wasn't my usual super minimalist bare desktop, nor the cluttered mess full of pdfs everywhere and notepad saves which it is at the moment
I would say that you are tech savvy, running on a desktop. You are a minimalist, and most of your PC gaming time is spent in SC2. You hate cluttered desktops and like your desktop image. You don't use your PC for much besides gaming. All I could get, really.
Since my work and private desktop look very similar including most of the icons, i'll just post the work desktop as i don't have access to my private desktop atm. For my private desktop, remove the VNC Icons, the CDBurner icon and the csv file that is for some reason still there and you've got it. I don't keep a lot of stuff on the desktop.

-You really don't like paying for programs because you believe that free ware can work just as well (all of them are pretty much free ware; I bet you got Kaspersky through some free w/ rebate thing too XD).

You want everything as clean as possible because you have poor memory. You can't remember the PW of your smurf or the info of your stream even after typing it a billion times.

@ ampson my stab at it - your desktop image suggests you are a loyal fan of blizzard games and I would wager you have played every single blizz game including wc2 - it also suggests you aren't really a tech hardware/software freak, but you are by no means illiterate at it - you are a college student living in dorm and its messy with a few open bottles on your desk right now
then I saw the links at the bottom and with a quick google this confused me as I saw ponies all over my screen. At first i was going to say you just tried OSU for fun but maybe you enjoy anime/comics? Got me confused and my initial perception might be totally off lol

Funny how it can be interpreted very differently from what it actually is.
- The company doesn't pay for any programs we need so i have to use free alternatives. - Kaspersky was bought years ago by the parent company and all PCs have to use it. - The messenger is for the jabber communication on our internal jabber server (We use jabber if we have a quick question for someone else, faster than email and easy to use if you send an url or some database IDs). - For the Web development i need multiple browsers to test (also the reason for the "IETester" icon) and i use Chrome mostly for my private browsing, FF exclusively for work.

Stream Info is mainly about stuff i write to my viewers while streaming, because i don't have a working mic. Stuff like "brb ~5 minutes smoking" or something like that.
But you're right, i don't have the best memory. And now please something good about me. :D
Very cool idea, you can actually tell alot about people when you look at their destop with icons on it. Here is what I can tell from OP's desktop: He plays Wii or Cube games, EVE online, SC2 ofc, minecraft. OP also pirated the game Borderland, care about his PC's hardware condition... Doesn't seem to have any study program on his comp, may be not a student then.
Logical thinker, computer enthusiast, set in your ways. Likes SC2 more for the community (TL, reddit, etc) than actual gameplay. Likes a lot of the same genre of music, dubstep I would guess. Possibly ukranian (I know that language is something european or russian) You have probably had computers fail in the past and have this one fully backed up. You know what you need to as far as computer technology goes and are probably on a desktop.

I would say you're a hardcore gamer. Probably in your early 20's and you have a lot of time on your hands to do all the PC stuff. And you're probably into Hacking??
One thing i immedatly noticed: You probably like the movie Inception as you store the image of your desktop on your desktop.
Also, You are probably a contributor or at least constant visitor of the funny picture thread. You own an Alienware PC (so you probably have too much money on your hand which suggests that you only have a very limited set of hobbies apart from playing on your shiny PC). You are also much into overclocking and your PC is your whole pride, thats why you store your computer specs on your desktop. You try to improve your APM with TypeRacer and you have some success with it. You change your Desktop Background very often, which suggests that your see it quite often, so i think you browse more and watch more streams than you actually spend playing games.

People, I think you should solve someone when you post, when everyone is selfishly just posting their desktops this turns to pure spam/lookatmeee -thread. This is mine about the last poster atm.
This guys is 27 years old hc-gamer that is messy and lazy as hell. He doesn't clean up his home just like he doesn't clean up his desktop. Also he didn't think too much before posting this since the image is horribly small and therefor hard to read. He has lots of friends online that he spends time with, and also keeps in touch with his real life friends through msn etc.
On his gaming side this person is probably around platinum 1v1 and plays mostly team games in sc2 since he doesn't really want to just focus on one game and instead seeks to play lots of different games with friends for the lulz. Also he's selfish for not commenting on anyone else! Shame on you!
You are a young man probably 25 at most but no kid either (kids these days shouldn't be playing CS). Not older then 25 is drawn from you using teamspeak/ventrilo/utorrent, that is unusual for people with kids and a grown up life (all though this is changing)
Adobe Reader is the only thing indicating serious business but that's not a strong indicator. No trace of actual work being performed with the computer is a further indicator to this as it suggests you are doing well in school or possibly your first job with no need for using your computer for those things.
You keep stuff fairly organized (no big mess, empty trashcan) but you don't take any joy from organizing your desktop and and you would have a mess had you not used either new folder or desktop for storing random stuff. This is because there's no consistency in what programs are pinned or not pinned and firefox has a desktop + a pinned shortcut. Many of the shortcuts also seems useless and are randomly placed.
You have been using firefox for a long time and still use it most but you use chrome some, This because firefox is in the first row and chrome in the bottom of the second one.
You don't have a strong habit in your setup with the icons since you seem to use auto-adjust to grid. Also the windows 7 behavior for windows messenger that differs from xp/vista seems to not bother you since you seem to be using the pin for it rather then using compatibility mode for vista so that it appears in the system tray instead. It's possible you changed this but nothing suggests it (hard to tell for sure since tray is hidden) the The 12-hour clock tells me you are probably from US/Canada or GB but obviously there's plenty of other possibilities. The "blackberry desktop" shortcut strengthens my idea of you being from the US/Canada.
you like starcraft 2 and you enjoy watching streams but you mostly play team games as you do when you play CS / COD.
You probably use an ipod since you have iTunes and that along with the blackberry and a computer that should be reasonable good tells me you are not poor.

Wow. -23 years old, from Toronto. -Finished school recently while working in a Medical office. -New Folder/Desktop is my location to quickly download things (games/music/pron etc) before it's put into an appropriate folder (a task that as you pointed out correctly, I take little joy in doing and do rarely) -Primarily use firefox, chrome was originally acquired for MLG -The majority of my SC2 game play, along with cod/cs, is in fact done in team games with friends -The windows messenger not being in my tray was more an issue of me not bothering to change it, again spot on

My work PC... shhh ignore the SC related stuff and minecraft Should be fairly easy to see what I do for work Also, looking at other people's desktops i'm surprised that most people don't change their taskbar... I hate the default windows 7 tastbar lol, I had to make mine smaller and change the way windows were displayed on it.
Also, don't mind the background, I have it rotating multiple images and this one happens to not be a good enough resolution to span all the way across

You're running on a macbook pro, and you live on the eastern seabord. I'm guessing you play an instument, and use your computer for music and videos and other creative things. I'm guessing some of your music was obtained illegally. SC2 seems to be the only game installed, so you probably only spend a small portion of time on your laptop gaming.

You're a pretty big gamer indicated by all the different games (LoL, Portal, SC2, Audiosurf Etc..) You pirate a lot of the games (as indictated by uTorrent and PowerISO) You're fairly well off with computer knowledge as apparent by PuTTY and you don't live in the US as indicated by the way your date is setup.

I'd say 18-20. Vegetarian. Still studying. Prefers physics/math. You're pretty intelligent and also quite creative. You have several projects that you're currently working on.
You're decent with computer but not really a hacker. You are a gamer of course and you're not afraid to pay some more to get quality. You're not the kind of person who gg's. You game maybe a couple of hours each day and you're interested in progaming(like tournaments and such)
You have a varied taste of music. You like both rap and pop. Maybe your interest for music goes a bit beyond just listening? Maybe some damian marley as well. Dubstep is also something you've been listening to the last month or so.
Also, you're possibly interested in space/rockets.

Ok let me try: You work with this computer, so you probarbly only own one. This means you are not a hardcore gamer, but enjoy playing some with your friends, and watch streams and big events. You spend some time at the computer doing stuff like chatting, watching movies, or browsing some forums. Almost all time you spend at the computer you listen to music. Not because you know a lot about it, but because it sounds kinda nice and its a good wat too relax. You also have a iphone/android where you listen to music a lot. You would like to keep the computer clean and organized, but you're kinda lazy so you dont really bother. This leads me to believe: - You are probarbly a bit older than the average on tl, maybe 27-30 - You live alone, but you have good contact with your family, have a girlfriend, and some friends. Not very many, but some. You sometimes would like to party but you dont really do it a lot. Ok, it was worth a try. Was i anywhere near correct?
You like to keep your schedule organized, you also have Putty on your computer which leads me to believe that you at college/work needs to use a proxy in order to visit all websites you want to. That is all I managed to guess other than the obvious things that you are working one some statistics stuff in Excel. And that you use IRC to talk to TL ppl etc.
the artwork is by Bringmann&Kopetzki who illustrated flyer for the legendary Club "Aufschwung Ost/Stammheim" in Germany. There are several artworks from Bringmann&Kopetzki which i use for my Desktop, depending on the season. Obviously it's summer right now ;P
Here's mine, lets see what people think. I'll just say as far as my background goes it's a varying one and would probably send out a bazillion different messages about me.
Doh bunch of people posted. ^ Lots of games in common with me. Guess you loves your games and your music. Must have some kinda iPod/Phone otherwise no reason to have iTunes. Pretty bad at reading stuff. + Show Spoiler +
http://i.imgur.com/hpIGr.jpg I can't guess for shit, but I'll try anyway. You go to school, but have a job to get some extra income. You're participating in a theather concert (That's how you say it raaaittt?) You are using a smartboard and you recently got rainmeter. You have files from "Alex flashdrive" on your computer. You use Gmail and follow the news.
Not much to go off of but I will try. You are a pretty competitive gamer. You not only play BW/SC2 but you went and got a Razer mouse. That shows that you take your games pretty seriously. Also, it seems like you are pretty Techy. You have Panda security for your spyware and you have the GOM player on your computer (probably for GSL).
Since WoW and SC2 are your only 2 games you are showing, you probably devote your gaming solely to those 2 games.

Haha yeah, gaming + music is pretty much my life. And I've been using iTunes for years, before I had an iPod ;P I just preferred it as a music player to WMP. ^__^ As for you, ugh i'm also pretty bad at reading peoples desktops i'm guessing you're creative since you have VirtualDJ + Photoshop, you're using a laptop but also have a desktop, maybe thinking you use your laptop for college/uni (Medical Studies). I'm thinking you're not amazing computer knowledgeable but you want to learn more.
So, how did I do? Also can I ask you for more info regarding the 'F1 application'?
Hmmm i'm curious about what you have to say about mine... if you would
I'm not gonna analyse too deeply, but I'm so curious as to what those four questions are. :D Your icons signal to me that you like both chaos and symmetry - as well as simplicity in general. To me this means that your computer in a way "your home" and treat it that way - especially since you seem to use it for both gaming and work. Quite simple, but there isn't that much to work with. Not that I'm any different. ^^

Try me. ^^ I don't actually use my desktop for anything else except temporary files, so I opened "start" instead. + Show Spoiler +

I was paying too much attention to the details and missed the huge "Daft Punk" sign, After noticing that last line stopped making sense to me too so you can scratch it out :D
Here is my desktop (I always keep taskbar on auto-hide and also hide desktop icons): And here is my startmenu and program files:
Not much to work with though haha. This is my just-for-me computer. I have two others that are riddled with shortcuts and large-sized setup files everywhere due to my brothers' downloads and all.
You have a great taste of women, You have Razer Blackwidow keyboard, you are really into starcraft hence why you have all different starcraft 2 clients. You do not live by yourself, and you are also a very social person, you like to interact with people.
You adore the cosmos. One day you wish you can just go to Malaysia or somewhere else with a great view of colorful stars and the red glow of the sun and just gaze up and watch it go. It would give you the most serene feeling you could imagine. You love videos like this.
You also know where, how, and when to get new programs for your computer and you like to stay up to date with the programs most people prefer for music, games, video.
Organized chaos. Rather than keeping things simple, you care about accessibility. You really don't care where your shortcuts are cause you know them all by heart. You are a poker player and interested in cars.
You seem to be a competitive gamer (iCCUP and images of tournament results). However, I dont see a link for SC2 or BW on your desktop (oddly enough you do have Frozen Throne on there though).
You listen to electronic music, and also like to produce the same kind of music yourself. Also, you still go to some sort of school, and save your school projects on your computer.
Your dream is to become a DJ who also produces music.

well done, sir =) but now I feel old i am 21 and study history / politic... and i am in my last year :D the old school thing is right but nowadays I prefer SC2 than the oldschool CoD Series (not mw2 and BO!!)

If you live by yourself why do you have wifi? cable ftw!
This is what I look like about 15 minutes after boot. Though this shot is a bit old now, since I rage-nuked everything and broke the background. Don't ask. It's a long story.
Most of those shortcuts have never, ever been used. I don't even use Audacity for sound editing, I use Audition 1.5. I don't actually use my desktop as anything other than a repository for random stuff I am recently working with, hence the spam of SFX. I played Hellgate all of once, and Comodo's constant 1.5/2MB downstream usage pissed me off to get rid of it.

EDIT: whoa like 4 other guys analyzed the same one while i was writing this thing :p
I do a lot of work with this computer but mostly homework and work from a part-time job. I don't have an iphone but do have an ipod where I listen to a lot of music and i do listen to a lot of music and have music on almost all the time. I do want to keep my computer clean but never get to it. And bit wrong on other stuff as I'm still in college and young.
As for yours, i think you play a variety of team games and enjoy playing games with your friends online. You generally stay organized and keep things in hand reach. You don't spend much time on the computer except to play games and you probably use your phone to communicate more than your computer. you torrent and stuff so I'd say you're either a jr/sr in college or in grad school or fresh in the workforce.

Heh you were right about 18-20 and I do prefer sciences like physics/math. I do have several or many projects that I'm working on. I'm alright with a computer and don't hack at all lol. I do game and I don't mind spending money but I do gg lol. I don't play much maybe 2-3 hrs a week but i spend a lot of time watching progaming. I do like a wide variety of music and I did listen to dubstep but that was around 8 months ago lol.
you guys all got a diff part of me just from the desktop this is amazing lol.
You're a person that likes to keep things rather systematically, but you cba to do it fully based on the "Old" folder. It's most likely filled with old icons you're tired of having around or random notepad docs.
You either watch porn on FF or on GC.
You are also into media and entertainment based on your three video folders, and you like to play Minecraft after having an intense SC2 ladder session.
And you're very strict about your computer and what you are downloading.

Haha awesome read on mine, though the porn comment I found a little strange :D
I do like to keep things clean on my desktop/computer, but thats because I have so much stuff on my computer, and the "Old" folder is where I put all my Small Games/Videos/Documents after Ive used them and havent used them in a while.
Yes I watch lots of media LOTS of videos... ATM you are correct in saying I jump between Minecraft and SC2 because thats pretty much all Ive played when I have the time.
Im not really strict about what I download, I just am very strict about the security of my computer

Ill try yours now, although Im not too good at this sort of reading.
Clearly you are a big gamer, with a decent game taste.
The fact you have Garry's Mod suggests you are a pretty big game fan, as nearly everyone I know that has that game plays it for a ridiculous amount of time.
You are obviously also into media and entertainment, as you have a lot of video programs and you probably Stream or make videos for something...?
Pretty sure theres alot more, but as I said Im not too good at reading people unless Im talking to them!
You play SC2, VNs and JRPGs. Also, you watch anime. You use a gaming laptop. I don't see Steam, so you probably don't buy many games. You are also about to bad-end in Chaos;Head.

You are young, def under 25. prob somwhere around 14-18.
You use your computer mostly for playing games. You are medicore gamer, you are playing competitive/multiplayer pc games, but you do it mosly/only to have fun and relax. You are a better than average gamer, but not a stand-out.
You don't really take much responsibility in your everyday life (school, helping out at home etc.) You are a trendfollower and generally there is nothing different/unusual about you. You play the typical blizzard and steam games that your friends (and everyone else) play. You also own a iphone/ipod, because they're cool. Or atleast you use itunes "just because".
Even though you are somewhat of a nerd you are not interested in technology, and not very good with computers but you know the basics. You prob listen to house/trance/techno (that kind of stuff y'know. atleast when gaming) and/or rap.
Ehh I don't use desktop icons. So there is some of my recent track downloads. Hmmm I doubt mine can be used but if anyone wants to give it a shot go for it
On June 30 2011 05:30 mikyaJ wrote: There's pretty much nothing you can get from this but w/e + Show Spoiler +
You keep really big icons i.e. low resolution because you have bad eyesight.
You have a shortcut for winrar on your desktop which strikes me as odd, it's possible you are old and not great with computers (explains the terrible eyesight).
The 'this is a folder' folder threw me off at first, but it is almost certainly a decoy, you made it prior to posting the screen cap.
After finishing portal 2 you are now replaying the original.

You play a number of games obviously, you torrent alot by the looks of it and you have the godmode icon which really just says that like me you miss the XP control panel style but like everything else about win 7 to much to go back.

Okay I'm going to guess early 20's in college possibly taking CS.
ok quite hard but atleast some things to go on. You seem like the typical apple user.
You use your computer mostly for school/work, and facebook aswell as random surfing. You play games, but not many and not that much.
You spend alot of time by the comp, but you are not that interested in technology, more what you can use it for. You are currently studying in college/uni. Something to do with web design/developing. You see yourself as a "creative" person and you listen to obscure or atleast alternative music. You are interested in photography and you have dabbled in some graphic design.
You are around 25 y/o. You are a pretty serious person and you like/have the ability to take charge in your social circle, as far as organizing activities at your uni and similar. You are atleast somewhat interested in politics.

You spend your time playing games or chatting people up on irc or in wow, about longcats and similar memes.

Those two are related. Yes im lazy about it for sure, I use scripts to clean the desktop up and I use indexed search functions to compensate for a so-so structure. I index everything for the built in search in windows but that's not good enough for all purpose so I use the program Everything to fully compensate for this :-) definitively love strong functionality.

You're definitely a college student. Video game, instrumental, and ambient-style music. You're rather busy.. or you don't clean up well.
Correct. I am incredibly busy, but I sometimes let things get a little disorganized. My musical tastes do extend beyond what the desktop reveals, however.
You listen to electronic music, and also like to produce the same kind of music yourself. Also, you still go to some sort of school, and save your school projects on your computer.
Your dream is to become a DJ who also produces music.

Lower right corner of left monitor, "Crazy Good Sex.pdf." A quick google of that reveals you can probably get it too, but I repeat, it's not that good.
Good luck. Taskbar icons only show when mouse is in the area.
I'm guessing you read a lot? I'm only saying this because I read a lot, and think a lot, and that is the kind of background I would use. Also, where did you find that background, I really, really like it!
You're a programmer: putty, eclipse, VC# <-why eclipse god I hate that IDE? You like simple things. Other than eclipse, everything you use is very basic. You play new games that have mods on them, fps are and jrpg are generally coop based, but you don't have vent or xfire. You like anime and are therefore creepy.

Only thing you are wrong about is me being Chinese. Also, the text is Japanese (though I'm not Japanese either)
Yes, I am a programmer. Mostly Java/PHP/HTML/CSS/JS (for work). I've only recently been messing around with VC# (XNA) in my spare time for a bit of fun.
Also eclipse is awesome. You are right I like simple things though. I hate eclipse add-ons with a passion (because they make it clunky and slow). I only use the Subclipse add-on.
I do love mods/modding games. I was heavily into model editting (actual editing, not swapping) in WoW until Blizzard started cracking down on it which caused me to quit. I also played/modded Oblivion for years.
I used to use Vent for WoW but no more which is why it's disappeared from the start menu.
If you think my PC is creepy you should see my room ^_^

I don't read as many books as most, I do read Wikipedia for random facts and books if they're highly recommended to me. It's one of the over 500 gigs of wallpapers I've downloaded over the years. I have no idea where it's from. However...
You play starcraft 2 and your race is protoss, you like to play other games, but only quality ones. Blizzard and Valve are your favorite game developers. You are hyped for diablo 3, subscribed to beta no doubt, and you have a few friends that are just as hyped so you recently decided to play d2 lord of destruction to ease up the long wait, but it probably didn't worked out and you haven't played more than 5 hours together, or more than 2 sessions. So now the icon just sits there, unused ;c
You like war movies and games, also you are an avid gamer with varied tastes, you enjoy FPS, RTS and some other genres of games, you also like to have a better form of communication between your friends/teammates on the games you play and don't like to have music playing over the games/people you are talking to. You like having some sort of organization but nothing too crazy and also seems like you like making funny pictures whenever you got the time.

haha, that was pretty spot on. I like war movies and games, but they dont stand out, as long as the gameplay is good i can enjoy all genres. The wallpaper was a screencap of the movie "spy games" i watched recently, movies are a primary source for my wallpapers, the shot that looks really good ends up as my wallpaper. I guess you could say im a fan of good cinematography, because i think thats one of the main things that makes a good movie from a bad one, sometimes you dont even need a good plot to make a good movie, as long as you have kickass shots in it, i.e "valhalla rising" . Now if you could have figured that out i would have had my mind blown, and would probably have turned into a hardcore paranoid :D
I cant say much about your desktop though, its really empty (most of desktops in this thread are just... empty backgrounds, its not fun for this sort of thread ;/)
Anyway, here is what i can get: You check teamliquid daily, the site is probably set as your homepage, you don't fit into a stereotype that thinks that pink is a girly color, you probably wear and look good in pink. You use your headset to communicate with friends and/or gaming buddies. I find it odd that you use msn over skype, so you probably used instant-messenging way before skype got big, and your contacts never bothered to make a transfer, maybe skype isn't big in mexico, i dont know ;S
You have an old monitor, and you are thinking of upgrading to improve your sc2 performance, but you can't find the cash to do it.
Hm.You have a gaming laptop and you like strategy-based games most of all.You like keeping your stuff tidy and have only the things you use most close by.Don't really have much software exposed to base a guess on.Hope I'm correct.
I opened the start menu because that's where most of my software shortcuts are.Programs on taskbar are : IE9,SRWare Iron, Windows Explorer, AIMP3, GOM Player, SC2.Shouldn't be too hard to guess me

Ok, I'm tiipsy but lets see how I do. Your background is a pretty cool scene but it looks really generic, like one of the standard ones you can choose from or one you just found and thought it looked cool. I can't quite tell if it's an actual photo or digital but the grass in the bottom right looks fake so I'm going to guess it was digital. Either you don't really care about your background, or you are into photoshop and made it yourself, or it's actually real and you're an outdoorsy-person? I'll rank those as 1-2-3 in probable likelihood.
The text looks russian so I'll guess you are either Russian or eastern European (forgive my ignorance on this particular language). The time and weather also seem like a really generic thing to put on your desktop so that kind of reinforces what the actual background itself says. Or maybe you always need to know the weather because you like the wilderness.
As for the links, you really care about the cleanliness of your computer. I see you've got hijackthis, antimalware, ccleaner, defraggler, avast, coretempt, etc.... so that seems a little overkill to me on antiviral/cleaning/etc. These are free programs, though, and along with bitorrent leads me to conclude that you're a pirate! You torrent lots of stuff and believe in open source rather than privatization of the internets.
You overclock because you care about your core temp. Which means your computer is probably top-of-the-line or somewhere close to it. You're probably an avid gamer because of the overclocking. And the fact that you posted in a TL thread
I had to google rainmeter but it seems like you care about the weather much more than average? I can't quite explain this!
You've got an HTC smartphone?
And ofc a SC2 fan with GOM and sc2 open.
Sooo add that together and you're the typical TL user? 22 and interested in gaming, programming, technology in general. You're tidy and neat and keep a clean room/workspace. Introverted? Too far? I'll stop!
You don't pirate games
Partly accurate... I don't own sc2, am playing my way through the campaigns at my boyfriend's house, I knew I'd play Protoss from the start and when I have a computer that can run sc2 decently I will! Totally hyped for Diablo III, have been playing D2 with my bf when he's here, but haven't for a few weeks cos we've been playing Portal 2 instead. D2 icon definitely isn't unused though! Not subscribed to the beta but have had it preordered for a few months I don't pirate games, but as for other stuff... lol

And the fact that you posted in a TL thread

you play a lot of games, but don't finish most. you really want to tweak the most out of your computer, but don't spend as much time / money really optimizing it as you could. you randomly purge things from your desktop, like files / images that were downloaded for some quick purpose. in general, you want to get the most out of things, but know that you don't put in the time or effort that you could to actually do it.
You like to see yourself as a technical guy, though you ain't that much of an expert at it (yet ). You do however play a lot of different games (MMO's, RPGS, Shooters you name it; typically you try out the flavor of the month) and watch some popular series. These you do not buy however, as torrents are your thing (the exception being the multi-player games of course, which you buy from Steam).
You'r a competitive guy, so besides computer games you like sports too. The evenings are spent surfing TL, 4Chan & some sport-relatet sites.
edit: oh, and you like music, although you have not learned any instruments yet, but you'd like to. Aaand, you'r a student, but will soon finish school.

I'm interested to see if anyone can actually pull something out of this.
College? Or grad school?
Research proposal?
University (could tell that through my sig tho). Not grad yet though (and not planning on it either).
And it's actually a business proposal. Since I took the screenshot, I've submitted the proposal, now I'm currently waiting, nervously, on the results, and I will not find out any earlier than the 18th, which makes it worse.

you have cooling fan issues. you're a shoulders-and-armsophile and though you play a good number of single player games like minecraft and pokemon, you also play hardcore games like BW and maplestory. you love your torrents and they love you.

Notepad++ shortcut in the taskbar, Symlink Creator icon on the desktop, receipt for Dell U2711 monitor and bitcoin folder all say that you're involved in tech. But Notepad++ is only marginally better than Dreamweaver (which is awful), symlinks are super easy to make with no need for a GUI, and the U2711 is good, but crazy overpriced. The monitor says you have a comfortable income, but the rest all says you were not taught (either formally or by a large group to interact with) and mostly got where you are figuring things out on your own.

[post whats in your folders man]
8)
Whats in my folders is what it says. BW is BW, wallpapers is wallpapers, and the other 2 are just folders for photoshop projects. The folder named shit is just misc stuff. Funny pictures, WoW ands SC2.
I was meant to post this ages ago but forgot =/ I really need to clean my shit up, if you look in "ALL MY STUFF" it's just full of the most random stuff you could put together.
Lucky I had no net for a while back and managed to clean half the shit when it was raining outside :D
1. You like the korean sc2 "culture" with its K-Pop artists. 2. You like watching GSL (fits with point 1). 3. You have good computer skills, like programming and stuff. Thats why you use different browsers (to enjoy all the advantages every one has). Can also be seen on the "CPU/GPU" programs you installed. So you like to know, how your computer works (programming + monitoring tools ) 4. You dont really care about a cleaned up desktop (and when I think of programming people, exactly that comes to my mind :D), and I mean that on your PC and in real life :D So your rooms might also be quite messy. You like to put things at a place where you can find them fast. You dont need to have a good looking system. Just a system, that works. Form follows function. 5. But you try to be a little more the "stylish" person, but I think that is just because "everybody does it nowadays". So you have a nice background and a little bit of RainMeter (?) stuff. But that all fits with your affinity to programming and Korea.

You're a reasonably heavy gamer; you like a pretty wide variety of games and own quite a few, however you've got a pretty short attention span, and probably don't manage to finish most of your games. You're much more likely to stick to a few "core" games and play them really often.
While you genuinely enjoy gaming, you've always been more of the creative/technical type who likes fiddling around with things (RGXP).
You're a university student aged between 18-25, probably studying IT or something IT-related. At the least, you're reasonably knowledgeable in web or graphic design (Opera Widgets, Notepad++, Fansite kit, Paint.Net).
You've applied for multiple jobs in the past year, with indeterminable success.

With the exception of my age (I'm 17, I finished high school one year ago) it's very accurate I finish my games, but it takes very long time since I play mostly to Dota, HoMM3, Sc1 and Starwars BF2.

If so, we have a ridiculous amount of things in common. I would venture to guess that I am a bit older than you, however. 18-19 maybe?
Hahaha! I think it's kind of accurate (Except for rhythm games. I play Stepmania and sometimes Super Crazy Guitar Maniac Deluxe 3, but that's all). But I'm 17 (and a half!) so you were close. There's so much things to do, you probably know how time consuming it is to have so many hobbies.
lol but seriously i'll give it a try, but first, you should not have files so many located directly on your desktop. it slows down pc performance something bad!!!
aaaaanywho.. from what I see you seem to be technically inclined( rooting/ torrents/ youtube dwnloads/win loader/ dual monitors) you own an android powered cellular device, also you really like steam.

You seem more like a casual gamer, since most of the games I see is all pick up and go (Angry Birds, OSU, Sims etc), with the exception of Sc2 and LoL.
The fact that you actually put things into folders and bother to clean your junk makes me think you are much more organised than me (things sorted into folders, backups, section dividers for your bookmarks, of which each have had their name removed, and the changing background) compliments a very elegant setup.
I would say you are no older than 17, seeing the amount of time you have on your hands and the type of wallpapers and games.
Anywhere close? :D

you play zerg, admire nestea, most likely watched Mr bitter's 12 weeks with the pros for tips, since you seem to be interested in strategy, deduced from the notepad files, your apm is probably pretty low, I'd say 100 or so, because you use a mac, your desktop background looks funny so I'd also say you get high from time to time, probably marijuana, and because of the circular theme on the desktop I bet you enjoy oranges.
While I feel the first two things are purely based on my sig, this is frighteningly meticulous. One thing I am interested in is the correlation of my OS and my APM. It is not much higher indeed, around 120, but I'm really interested in how you concluded that. Haven't gotten high in ages, though. But yeah, it was MJ.
I'm in love with my desktop background. I don't know why, probably the mystery sillouette...makes me sad and happy at the same time. I'm probably just a goof.
My taskbar usually minimizes though, so I popped it up for atleast a little bit more, I guess.
you live in the united states, watch liquid huk's stream a lot, because your wallpaper is from wallbase.net, and you probably use razer gaming gear and admire jaedong
This is pretty off.. you should try harder, and use the desktop, not people's TL account locations.
United States is obviously correct, the rest is wrong. Although I have a Razer Abyssus

Hey, how do you like Black Prophecy? I was eagerly awaiting Jumpgate Evolution until that ship sank in a fiery cataclysmic failure.
played it a little but way too buggy/imbalanced, also sc2/dota/diablo-addictions took over again
What program are you using to get your icons in groups like that. I have heard of/used Desktop Fences and it looks similar to what you are using but worse, or at least the version i was using does not look as useful.
And here is my desktop, I resisted the urge to clean it in any way before i took the screen shot so lots of random stuff is just cluttering it up (normally I have recycling bin and a folder shortcut and thats it)

EDIT: Messed up the image link
Can you link to the original please? I love this wallpaper
You like pacman and downloading singleplayer games illegally. You like free software, dislike microsoft, and have a wireless usb optical mini. You also fart a lot in bed. Like oil paintings. Are into anime. You used to be a school bully. You're really skinny. You're tech savvy so you probably are doing something that has to do with computers.
You're also asian and play league of legends more than sc.

You must be an avid gamer , SC2 Plat or higher. Day9 fanboy for life , maybe even gotten casted in a daily once ( god knows you`ve tried!). You fucking LOVE eggs and bacon ! You work in an office ? a company that does something tech-related ? probably married.
You torrent alot. You wish your desktop was more organized but everytime you tidy it up it goes to hell again with more programs and files. You have a decent understanding of how computers work, and may even make a living, or aspire to make a living from that knowledge. Your music tastes range from Kpop to rap, mostly mainstream; but you also enjoy some electronica based stuff. You play a lot of different games to pass time, not at the most competitive level, and you play protoss.

You're very organised and you like to have a desktop that makes sense. I like the touch of putting the computer on the desk . Can't really get much more from your desktop.
Here would be mine, a bit lacking on stuff as I just recently upgraded to 64bit, but.. nevertheless, most important stuffs are there already. Do me, do me. + Show Spoiler +

I play nearly only RTS(CoH, wc3, Medieval 2, empire and shogun 2 and of course Broodwar ) games but not alot (but some CS and now Rainbow Six Vegas) Wanna play competitive/alot Starcraft 2 but got to work atm. So no time for competitive Starcraft 2 >.<

You're flirty and friendly. You have a decent job but you spend it all being a womaniser. You're very outgoing and don't have much time to do schoolwork (probably around college level). You're more tech savvy than the average TLer but you have problems with your RAM! + Show Spoiler +
It's not like I know you or anything... *coughcough

Yup, upon second glance their is definitely structure to your shortcuts. I think that was my OCD jumping to conclusions. lol
I guess if I dont use the application frequently i'd rather go through the start button. =P I'm glad the rest of what I guessed was slightly accurate. I think a career is an excusable reason not to play competitively. Desktops like yours makes me wish I had a job that meant something lol. Thanks for sharing
