when i watch music videos i take it holistically; if im listening to the album im just listening to the music
urbandictioanry 2nd definition for legit:
1. (adj.) A modern synonym for words such as "cool," "ill," "tight," or "dope." Used to describe a noun that is of a particularly excellent quality. The slang use of this term is slowly but steadily increasing in popularity.
like this is clearly legit + Show Spoiler +

so "legit" here means just "good"? >_>
|
yea my generation isnt that legit or somethin
it kinda carries the connotation of the word "legitimate" without actually requiring it to be technically legitimate
if that doesnt make sense its fine

you have higher standards for art than me
in my mind i can interpret anything as art, it really depends on my own frame of mind more than anything else
like there are quite a few interesting shots in that miley cyrus video
again though you probably just have a higher standard for interesting
i mean i definitely think the director, diane martel apparently, was aiming higher than "we really need a music video, 'cuz else we'll get less views on YouTube and MTV will broadcast us less, so let's film some random stuff" considering there's even a directors cut that slightly differs, but clearly she failed in your eyes

The conversation going from building a gigantic mountain of poop to miley cirus music's feels kinda legit for me

Would it be apt to compare the modern-day state of Israel to the Crusader states of the Mediterranean in the 11th-13th centuries?
I don't have any strong opinions one way or the other on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, I've just been reading a lot about the Crusades this year and there are some striking similarities between the Outremer and Israel.
|
There are quite a few differences too though. The Zionism of Israel is a nativist ideology rooted in historical tribalism, while the Outremer of the Crusades is more directly imperialist, rooted deeply in the twinned foundations of Catholic religious triumphalism and the universal Roman empire.

It depends on the context but I doubt it's ever worth to use that comparison unless you're sure the conversation is about history and not about the clash of cultures. Saying someting like that in a discussion about modern politics is just asking for a flame war.

Am I going senile if I think the 90s were fucking long ago but year 2000 was just around the corner?

I am quite sure I saw it around when the new TL website came out, but I can't find it, and don't wanna create a post for it just yet: I do not see any tweet posted on TL, I always have to guess that there is one, then 'quote' the post to copy-paste the URL. Is that a known problem, and/or is there a fix?

Otherwise go to tech support subforum.

Yes you are, and sadly I am 2. I think it has to do with time speeding up after high school and the whole getting old but not feeling old thing. I have grey in my beard now! WTF? Edit: and so far no magical powers, double WTF?? If you become a canadian wizard does that mean you can make Molson's and Maple Syrup appear or something?

Is that a known problem, and/or is there a fix? Same problem here (using FireFox), I asked for help some time ago without results. I also found out that this applied to other embedded tweets - on LeMonde.fr, for example - while it works on other browsers, like Chrome.
