Lol I wasn't really planning to start something here, but I'm glad people are feeling the same way I do about this stuff. Thanks
To answer the other article, + Show Spoiler +This is actually a bit spoilerish about Game of Thrones this time so you're warned =D + Show Spoiler + I think it's a good article, and I think it raises the points that need to be raised. However I disagree with the conclusion. I don't think the writers missed a step, like it's suggested, I think that step will be provided when the backlash of her actions hits Daenerys, and that's where they have a possibility to fuck up (especially if they plan to try and make Daenerys a more sympathetic character than she is in ADWD in order to satisfy the audience).

+ Show Spoiler +Well I only encounter such things via links on social networking or here, and I like to vent. Articles in the vein of the one you originally linked are why I don't really bother seeking out blogs or anything anymore, because they vastly outnumber the decent stuff. I find them annoying because I would agree with the general idea of feminism in terms of evaluating and investigating, critiquing gender relations and representations in media. However it's so often done so haphazardly and badly, or so full of hyperbole, or on such topics of miniscule impact that I couldn't be fucked anymore. I do quite enjoy this one though - primarily I think because it's women taking the piss out of the magazines that are marketed at their gender and generally have content provided by women. It's nice to have a feminist take on things that are produced by and for women, which is an oft-neglected facet of the whole thing IMO

+ Show Spoiler +I'm not really mad about this, more just sad.
I was never a BW fan, I just wasn't into esports back then. I got into esports through SC2, after seeing a HuskyStarcraft video on youtube. I ran out and bought the game and fell in love with it instantly. I followed the scene very closely in 2010 and 2011, but in 2012 I slowly lost interest until the release of HOTS, when I got back into it hardcore and have been watching obsessively since then.
It's no secret that SC2 is losing it's popularity. The numbers we were hitting in now are so much lower than what we were hitting in 2011. And the fact of the matter is if this scene dies and the tournaments stop and I have no one to talk about the game with I don't know what I'll do with myself. I love this game so much and it honestly makes me depressed to see it bleed out like this. I think it's fantastic, I love it. Sure, some of the design choices were questionable (sentry, SH, ect.) but I still think it's miles better and more enjoyable than every other esport game out there.
I guess my point is that this game means so much to me and I pray that the scene never goes away. I hope that there are major changes in LOTV to bring it back but, let's be real, blizzard will never do enough to make it happen. I love the game, I love the community, and it breaks my heart to see it slowly wither away. Sorry to rant, but I didn't really know where else to post this. I really just want this whole thing to never die.
edit: did not mean for this to be so long, sorry everyone edit2: sorry, did not realize this was supposed to be in spoilers, im an idiot

+ Show Spoiler +I guess, but you have to understand why people are so frusterated with the game. It's been out for almost 4 years now and the balance is probably the worst its ever been right now. And blizz being so slow to make even minor changes... I just don't have much faith right now. It is just a hard time to be a fan at this point in time I guess. So far 2014 has sort of looked promising so I guess we'll just have to wait it out and see.

+ Show Spoiler +Other than the swarmhost, Blizzard's been doing a stellar job so far. They toss a bunch of ideas in the air, go with something both they and the community can accept, and throw it in there. Even when the community goes into chimpmode because it's the cool thing these days to hate Blizz no matter what they do, things turn out alright, one way or another.

+ Show Spoiler +I prefer slow methodical changes compared to LoL where there's a balance shift every other week, or so it seems. I understand it's harder to balance 119 champions against each other than three races, but it's leaving a lot of balance in neck-and-neck situations in the hands of Riot. I'd say the current wave of Protoss dominance has simply accreted over time, as favorable patches (namely the Oracle) coupled with better Protoss strategy across the board has led to a surge.

+ Show Spoiler +Balance is fine, it's not really the issue. It's a fun/fairness thing, at least for me (personal opinion). Plus Protoss is just absolutely maddening at times to play against and not fun at all.

+ Show Spoiler +I'm not saying there has to be a ton of balanc patches, but when the entire community is saying something needs to be fixed immediately (MSC vision, blink stalker allin) and it still takes them months to do it, there is a problem.

+ Show Spoiler +yes, this is kind of the true core issue with the game. i just isn't fun to play against protoss because it feels like they can punish you for even the slightest fuck up and can exploit you even when you don't fuck up at all.

The things they toss around make no sense - the Hydra buff that was planned is a recent example, and the Blink nerf too. They're trying to attack a specific Blink timing - the all-in, and so they make the ability worse for every application, not just the all-in. Instead of just making it more expensive or take longer to research, they give the cooldown an extra 50% on the top. And with the Swarm Host - and I'm going to ignore for a moment how they totally didn't see the turtle-style coming a mile off - they see that the turtle-style is a problem, and instead of addressing the problem - the Swarm Host - they give the Tempest a weird buff. It's like they're afraid of actually admitting when something's a fucking problem and attacking it head on, and will touch every unit but the Swarm Host when the SH is the problem. They beat around the bush with too many stupid changes. Also their rationale behind not making certain changes drives me up a wall - as does their method of answering the public's questions. If I wanted to shout - through my screen - at a bunch of idiots who are supposed to know what they're doing, I'd watch a news program featuring all our favorite politicians.

Warp gate is less of a problem, but the necessity for certain chokes to be force-fieldable and others not to be, and how powerful it is in general on the back of weaker gateway units means I usually have to stick to the accepted way of creating chokes and open spaces - can't play with that shit too much or Protoss breaks it in half, one way or the other. And if your main base is the wrong shape then Blink fucks that up too.
