As long as working towards your goals in a way that makes you happy then you're winning. - My band does covers and I just finished mixing the backing track for "Ex's and Oh's." What do you think? I'll share another when our singer sings over it. (We had a little help from Ableton Live's warp function...) https://soundcloud.com/discodinosaur/exs-and-ohs-trash-pandas-sample-mix/s-rffmY - I was also nervous to post this because I sang on it and wrote it... Anyway here goes: https://soundcloud.com/discodinosaur/eleanor Fucking awesome. Seriously love the lyrics, great job!!! \m/

A riff that might be dropped by one instrument and picked up by another and might have some variation but was always present. I couldn't actually tell by ear if the top line was the same notes or if it was it's own thing back then. Sometimes the vocal really is just singing along with the guitar riff or whatever, with some rhythmic variation maybe. The bass might often also double the guitar, maybe skipping some of the notes. If you have a good riff the arrangement really only needs to show that off and a lot of great riffs or grooves don't get boring quick, at least to me.

i can hear latency-free my microphone but i cannot hear ANY system sounds nomatter what i do do i need to plug my audio interface into my computer using TWO 3.5mm to phono cables - one into the red socket in my PC and one into the green (speakers) socket in my PC? *i ordered the extra cables so will find out but i dont know if what im trying to do is even possible. i want to have system audio and microphone output come both out of my audio interface so they can both come into my headphones which are plugged into the audio interface and keep my microphone output latency free. i tried to send my PC system audio into my audio interface but getting no sound even though there is activity on the sound card (another possibility may also be that my sound card is VERY old and doesnt support such a thing....)* tonight = zero singing, its 11pm already and i done nothing but fuck around failing to find help on google for hours and hours ><

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Musical-Instruments-Focusrite-Scarlett-2i2-Computer-Interface/dp/B005OZE9SA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8 + Show Spoiler + i got the behinger xenyx 802 http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000J5XS3C?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 it looks like i was tricked and it is "just a mixer" not an audio interface? what does that mean for me? what can i do with this thing (the fuck is it for?), and what else do i need to buy now? there is no usb port, instead i am connecting it to the red socket on my pc soundcard with a cable into the Main Out large sockets on the mixer using this cable: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003SOSUX4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 i just ordered this cable coz there are 2x "2-track" sockets on the mixer and i thought this might let me connect into that red socket AND my pc's green speaker socket to get the system audio into the mixer at the same time: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001KEVSX8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 i did see a youtube video where the guy seemed to plug this thing into another thing and people were arguing about it, but you can't just figure out what the fuck all this random equipment is thanks i'm glad someone has an idea !!!! if i don't need this mixer thing i'll try to send it back, £50 is quite a lot for something i might not ever use in my life im guessing this is what i need... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Musical-Instruments-Focusrite-Scarlett-2i2-Computer-Interface/dp/B005OZE9SA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8 or this one... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lexicon-Alpha-Studio-Audio-Interface/dp/B000HVXMNE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1456561024&sr=8-1&keywords=Lexicon usb im using a xlr to 6mm cable for my microphone and plugging it into a 6mm mic/line in jack in the mixer, im guessing ill be able to do this with the audio interfaces and i wont need an xlr to xlr cable instead? i think thats the case for the 2nd one , the more expensive one looks like its sockets can fit multiple types of cable in one go? edit: yeah someone in comments says they are "they are combo XLR and Jack inputs" so i should be fine with my microphone 6mm cable and guitar 6mm cable both going in, then i guess you plug the other end to your PC and it sends system audio, microphone audio and guitar audio all directly to your headphones (no latency/processing by the microphone and guitar)

also the F she is playing is 133200 and the G is 23201x (well that's what i'm doing anyway) so 00000 is probably not too out of place given those crazy sounds! my hand felt pretty fast tonight so i recorded this . played like crap in reality but it still is cool to do IT LOOKS A LOT COOLER THAN IT SOUNDS ROFL

and the G is 23201x Uh that's not remotely close to a G chord, those notes are F#,C,E,G,C, while a G chord is made of G,B,D.
