But these are the guitars I own-

Hyundai Acoustic, I own steel stings for it

Fender Strat, Red and black, it's a garbage 80 dollar guitar I got for only 10 bucks.

Fender Strat, Ruby red, hand crafted with a carving knife, special ordered cost me $1,300

Hyundai Acoustic Bass.

YES, someone bumped my thread!

It is so awesome that you are making your own guitars, even more that you are making one specially for TL. Could you post the pics of your progress on this thread (or send some to me, if you want it to be a surprise)?

3 year guitarist here

Ibanez i think is best for price/quality.
But Fender/ esp Gibson beat IBanez if you have a lotta money.

Yep, Fenders are nice, but expensive. I have a black American stratocaster, which I've had for 7 or so years now. Ironically, usually whenever I find enough time to play for a while I tend to pick up my cheap Yamaha acoustic, mostly for fingerpicked stuff.

OP: I think your explorer is the shit! :D

yeah i'll post pics, but it has a lot to do with my blog, if you take a read, about once a week im going to post on how i'm going to change my life and in about post 3-4 i'm going to discuss my music and what I want to do, and while at teh same time, help others, so I recently bought some wood, not gonna tell what other then it's similar to oak, but it's not oak. and I recently jsut cut out the body and I'm going to take a hand file to it tomorrow, rather then a power-sander, to give it a bit more of an authentic feel.

I've had a guitar for 15 years and I've never quite gotten off the ground with learning. When I first got it I was like "I WANNA PLAY ONE BY METALLICA!" and quickly found out that ends in some crashing and burning when you literally have no idea what you're doing. At the time my dad got me some lessons at a music store (anyone remember Mars Music?) that proceeded to go out of business before I ever got the lessons and he couldn't get the money back. Gave it up for a while, lent my guitar to a friend who had it for years and didn't take the greatest care of it. A year or two two ago I got it back and took it in to get cleaned up and tried to start learning again. This time trying to learn the theory behind stuff. That all went decent but it was quite boring and my practice sort of slipped off since it all felt so robotic.

Which brings me to why I'm here. If anyone is looking to get back into playing or learn seriously do yourself a favor and check out Rocksmith, it's sick as hell. Starts off assuming you're a complete moron and it grows with you. Sure it doesn't teach you the theory but it goes over technique and has some fun little minigames to help build skills. Before you know it you're thinking "holy shit! I'm sort of playing this song!" and it keeps layering stuff on. Your "practice" time flies by since you think you're playing a game but you're building mechanics, muscle memory, and skills. I'm seriously beyond thrilled with the game and how much I've come in a few days. It's completely dope.

Not sure an advanced player will get the same thing out of the game as a beginner/intermediate player. Also to be fair its really less of a game than a learning tool IMO. It looks like GH/RB but you're not really playing for points at the end of the day you're doing it to learn. It just happens to be in a more fun way than looking at tabs or reading a book or whatever. Apparently they have the game set up at Best Buys and Guitar Centers, so if you don't have an issue with looking like a complete jackass as you fumble through songs in public check it out!

PS: I have an Epiphone Les Paul, never seen one thats colors looked as nice.

ya i got rocksmith this week. pretty cool for beginners. there really isn't much there for experienced players though. in fact, it's probably pretty annoying for experienced players since most probably already have the mechanics to play these songs but the fact that you have to sight read these colored blocks instead of music or tablature (which most are used to) will mess them up.

but the reason i'm here is because i want to ask...
i see a lot of pro guitar players do a power chord (one using only 2 strings) with their first and fourth fingers. i've always used my first and third fingers because it seems more natural since they're typically only 2 frets apart... is there any advantage of using the 4th finger instead of the 3rd finger? or just personal preference?

Interesting. I typically use my third finger as well, I imagine the distinction is just preference, or maybe situationally beneficial.

firstly i need to say your current guitar, ESP LTD KH202 is...................same guitar i have :D however i have a left handed version.. but your the first person i have seen with the same guitar awesomeness! I would love another Metallica guitar (James Hetfield ESP Truckster would be mad) but they don't make any others left handed

You have the exact same music taste as me, and can play all the songs i play! metallica is without a doubt my favourite band, love all kind of rock/metal though. Saw Metallica live 4 times in Australia last year, best concerts i have ever been too.

OP whats your favourite song to play? mine are Blackened, One, Fade to Black, The Four Horsemen \m/\m/

Edwards ESP. Made in Japan. My brother bought it this summer, then we tried to have kind of a band, but failed.
It has a very deep and powerful sound, if an amp is powerful enough. Playing it with a slider is just sick. Totally badass.
Trust me, if you have a good electric guitar, try playing it with a slider just for once. You will shit bricks. Feels like being a cowboy somewhere in a wild west with hawks gliding in the sunset.
But still I prefer to play some classical shit on my acoustic, whenever I feel like playing.

It's all about Fender,

Personally I own a nice shiny red Fender Jaguar - with matching headstock.
For me, Jaguars have the trebble/versitility of a Strat with the base and mid range of a Tele/Jazzmaster. Only with a Jaguar all posibilities are intachangable, sound sculpting is very easy.
I plan on aquiring a Custom Tele at some point in the near future.

Also, effects - Electro Harmonix (Memory Boy Deluxe is my favourite)

I used to use 3rd finger, but found that the 4th makes a more natural barre without locking at the joint like the 3rd does. Basically you put much less stress on your hand using your 4th then your 3rd. Unless I need the finger for something else though I mostly use 3rd and 4th with no barre for power chords because you can get a natural feeling curve going on the fingers.

Just got myself a lefty Shecter Blackjack ATX c1 FR, was super close to getting the cherry Hellraiser c1 fr but couldn't stand the shiny binding/inlays.

Must say that hellraiser special looks pretty nice with the yellowy binding.

Guitars are for pussies. Post your amp.

1974 Sunn Model T through a 1970 Sunn 412L.
And I use a ProCo deucetone Rat for distortion/overdrive.
