My friend has been doing stencils of various pictures and photos has a hobby, such as portraits. I asked him to try to do a Starcraft2 stencil, it came out pretty good.
Here is the original pic followed by pics of the stencil. You can see his hand in the lower left corner for scale.

Going to look good on my wall ! :D
If anyone is interested, here is a page where you can see some his early work.
By all means everyone who wishes to have a stencil made is welcome to send a quote to this email: sebstencils@gmail.com.
You can send any picture or photograph you would like to be stenciled for a good price and also discuss how you would like it stenciled. He doesn't only do videogame stencils but everything from portrait to the NSFW, in various sizes. Makes great gifts ! :D

That's awesome, I like the contrast the black and white gives the picture. Also, they images weren't loading for me, so I refreshed the page, and they are now working

Wow these are really impressive, where do you start when you decide to draw these? You should draw some sc2 units and submit them to Blizzard's fan art contest ^^. keep up the great work
|
Damn, you should do some more lol. Very high quality. Keep it up! :D

Very nice, you should put his info in the OP so that more people see it.

My first thought was something along the lines of, umm exactly what kind of flower is that supposed to be...?

Pretty cool, moved to general.

Ok I don't want to be mean but I hope you know that's called "Tracing" and it's an obvious feature in most art programs. He isn't making them himself he's just importing the original image into the program and letting it translate it to other colours.
If you do not use filters you can do it by hand... it's still not that advanced and shouldn't be classified as "art".
I've done it myself and it isn't hard. Example:
![[image loading]](http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/16663_374468705286_817515286_10263268_3483494_n.jpg) Stop calling it "art" when it's basically copying the same thing.
EDIT: More advanced example to show the principle.

edit: quote fail
I don't want to be mean but I hope you know it's called the cutout filter in Photoshop and a lot of people use it to make stencils.
The op never said it is art. It's not anywhere near the category of "fine arts" but it is in the category artworks. Some people just like to make some fan-art and simple artwork. Not all art has to be serious business and original

There is no magical demand on art to be difficult.
Art is probably one of the most subjective things on the planet, (perhaps following taste in food and music) and while I personally don't appreciate the examples of stenciling in this thread, it doesn't discount them from being 'art' because art is an extremely generalized term.
I've studied art and found that for the most part I don't care for 'masterpieces' at all. But being able to replicate a style or piece of work doesn't make it not art. I hate the notion that lots of people seem to have that somehow if the statement 'I could do that' is true, whatever they are looking at is bad art, or not art at all.

Knew someone would bring this up.
I'm not discussing the definition of art, but I do know that tracing and stenciling is the easiest ways to fool people into thinking oneself a great artist when this is not the case: Ergo my point is not the definition of art but the pride that comes behind the ones who consider it as such,
Let's not derail the topic anymore and if anyone wants a discussion then do it over pm or whatnot.
