But it doesn't have a mic right? I keep looking and the $80 logitech did look like the best deal even though there might be minor issues with it. So I guess you guys are right, $80 is pretty cheap for a pair of decent headsets. Now if I wanted to spend $200, should I be looking at something else though? People mentioned Audio Technica but do they sell gaming headsets with a mic? The M50s don't seem to have one.

Easily best sounding + headset you will spend on. I bought a turtle beach p22 from bestbuy last week and returned it within 3 days. The thing was a piece of shit made squealing noises when u listen to anything, mic was mediocre too. Anyhow get the kingston, it looks great etc but most importantly you get rich sound from bass and trebles, comfortable headset, and impeccable microphone.Just youtube the reviews. It also comes with travel bag, extensions and wires for planes and next gen consoles. Anyhow ive only had headset for 1 day, but im confident its the best headset under 100$

I'm reading some of the reviews and they said the mic picks up way too much surrounding noise. Is this a mic that you use? Does it need a mic muff so it doesnt pick up breathing and stuff? Or just sensitive enough to pick up noise from another room or the tv?

So i just brought my self a schiit modi + vali stack awhile ago, its pretty good but not great for sensitive headphones (such as ad-700/900) because the vali is noisy. So anyone who wants to buy the vali but have sensitive headphones go for the magni but if you have some less sensitive headphones like some hifiman he-400 its very good...

It goes great with 600 ohm Beyerdynamic DT-880s too. I've had a Vali/Modi combo for a few months now and I adore it. I can see it being quite noisy with certain headphones though, for sure. My weird special edition 32 Ohm DT-770s didn't take too well to the amp, but they were designed specifically to be used unamped so that isn't a huge shock.

I just bought a Phase x64 USB audio interface. I can plug my guitar into its HiZ instrument input. If I then record it directly with Audacity of FL Studio, it's very quiet but that's okay because I then also run amp simulation software (like Peavey Revalver Mk. III) that amplifies the signal and it sounds great. But now I'm plugging my SM57 into the Mic input (standard XLR connection) and it's way too quiet. The interface has a mic preamp obviously but it's almost like it's not working. There's dip switches on the device which are set to Mic level (as opposed to Line level) but it's barely recording anything. If I scream into the mic it records at about -32db, and that's with the Mic/Line gain knob at max. Way too quiet. Am I misunderstanding anything? I've checked that my Windows mixer recording levels setting is at 100% for the device, I've tried it with Audacity and FL Studio, I've even tried phantom power and setting it to Line level instead of Mic. Nothing helps. The correct input is selected (Mic/Line/HiZ) in the driver control panel and it seems there's nothing else I can do. Is my interface broken or am I doing something wrong?

Yeah headphones that don't require a lot of amping certainly throw up a hissy fit about it with the vali. But with that being said, the vali preforms way above its price in terms of audio quality as long as the headphone isn't sensitive such as your dt880's or my he-400's. The vali modi is a great little combo for anyone on a budget or looking to get into the audiophile world. The only 2 problems i really have had with the vali is 1. hates low independace and senseitive headphones and 2. Tubes and soldered in so no tube rolling and replacing them can be a big hassle once the time comes. But if the tubes ever go bad, you can send them back or just solder some new ones in. I'd personally solder them my self, its no biggie but for the less experienced i could see why that would be a hassle to have to send it back.

Super comfy, folds up nicely. The only thing is I need to up the quality of some of my audio files because I get some static one some sounds that I don't know how to describe. It's a bit annoying switching back to my steelseries siberias for gaming though, so maybe I should just buy a desk/clip mic and be done with it.
