This thing sounds so awesome, my girlfriend uses a Sennheiser HD598, but sorry to say.
The philips X1 tops this one easy, open headphone with bass o.0, and a mid and treble.
I am getting totally crazy, best buy 2014 for sure.

im not really a huge audiophile, but i want a pair of headphones because i'm a little tired of listening to my music with gaming headphones or earbuds. im pretty much down to two choices - Sennheiser HD280 Sony MDR7506 I'm not comfortable spending more than $100 on headphones. I'll use them daily, but probably only for a few hours. I'm also not sure what info you need. I listen to RnB and Rap most of the time, so I want to be able to enjoy the beat. I looked at some reviews online, but especially on Head-fi I don't really understand the jargon, and a lot of it doesn't help me make a decision. I won't be getting an amp, I'd like to be able to take it outside of my room when needed (for long trips, or relaxing. I guess it'd be nice if one of them was easier to lie down with. I was also considering the AT ATH-M50 but the extra $40 might not be worth it for me.

Think about this one, if your are willing to spend maybe $40 more, try and look for the Sennheiser HD558, becuase it's a great headset and it's a little bit cheaper then then AT-ATH-M50. Ive listened to both and I think for gamers the 558 is a little bit better. Overall the HD Sennheiser 558 also has a little bit more bass, and I think it's a little bit more clear. Can't say the the AT-ATH-M50 is bad, I would choose the HD558 over it. Just wanted to say this ![]() Cheers

Definitely worth it. | ||

I also find it quite a hassle having to disconnect the cable every single time I put them back in their case. I want new cans for ~*both*~ everyday use and DJing, and seeing the popularity of the senns, I'm considering them. Any input, guys? Or other suggestions? I own the HD25-1 II. They're not DJ cans though. That being said, they're very suitable for everyday use. The sounds is decent, even by today's standards - slightly overemphasized bass, about as detailed as you'd expect for headphones in this price range. Obviously there are modern headphones that sound way better at this price point. They also have good isolation if you want to take them outside. Oh and their best quality? They're freaking indestructible. I'm not kidding. I've had headphones more than twice as expensive show significant signs of wear and tear over the years. I don't even take particularly good care of them and they look like the day I bought them.

I currently use Beyerdynamic headphones with an amp and it's really good but I'm looking for a pair of headphones to listen to music with alot of bass and high sound quality. I don't really have a budget, I can pay 3-400 euro or more if it's worth it, basically I'm looking for the best ones. We had a discussion in the previous page on orthos. CorsairHero likes any of LCD-XC, HE500, and HE560. I've not listened to them myself but they fit the signature you're looking for. Also, which Beyer are you using right now? T1? If so, I don't know how good your amp and source are but probably not going to get too noticeable an upgrade over those those without changing other parts of your audio chain.

I'd add those to the list of cans to check out < 2000 USD. My advice is to go to a high end store and hear them for yourself. Make a note of the source/DAC/amp and take that into consideration. I haven't heard a Beyerdynamic headphone that I've liked to be honest.

The 880 is really harsh... massive spike at around 8kHz or sommat. Gave me tinnitus after about 15 minutes listening. I've put them up for sale. The 770 is a much more enjoyable headphone, although there's a notable midrange dip. So give them a go if you have a shop where you can try them. Im very sensitive to upper-mids so the frequency response of the DT770s really suits my ears and the bass response is really nice. Good clarity right down to the 40-50 Hz range but not too pumped to be overpowering. These also came highly recommended : http://www.head-direct.com/Products/?act=detail&id=115 But don't know how likely you are to find them somewhere for testing. depends where you live i guess ![]()

![]() Most retailers have stopped selling the HE-400 as it has been replaced with the HE-400i. It maybe hard to find ones to demo.

A lot of people also mentioned they don't think it's worth the sound quality for the price so YMMV, looks sexy though not as sexy in person
