The worst part is these people genuinely believe they're doing something to make themselves better at a video game (by throwing money at it). Either that or they're in some kind of "bigger gamer then thou" contest with other retards. In 10 years time these people will be the new yuppies. The champions of idiotic over-consumerism.

I wouldn't mind picking up a pair of these in prescription. I wonder if they would interfere with my vision if I used them for non-gaming vision.

![]() I'm very sensitive to light, which is a problem when you're staring at 56 cloaked interceptors and colossus beams on a 26 inch monitor.

I'll try to explain how these yellow filters work: The Amber filter that these glasses use reduces the Blue radiation that is the more common in the ambience visible light specter , and majority of LCD screens (in LED screens its a different story!) , but at the same time our eyes are the less prepared to see in normal conditions of lighting. The Human Eye has the best color-sharpness at around 500-550 nm wavelenght which is exactly the ones that this filter lets through (this is noticeable by how you need best conditions on the lighting in a room to make a difference between 2 tones of blue in comparison to two tones of yellow or red.) of course this is not suitable for a designer or people who need to see colors correctly as they modify color vision. These kinds of filters exist since so long ago , my grandfather has a pair of "driving glasses" with this filter that were made long long ago , they only switched the use. Of course they add Antireflective coatings and hardcoatings , just as all the high performance lenses today , and a curved lens can avoid evaporation of the tear a little bit so the product is not bad thought at all. The thing that i find quite good is the price for the "normal" package ,but if you want to put your prescription inside there it could get rather expensive to make a lab lens with all these "extras" (filter+coatings+curved lenses). Sorry about my spelling this was actually hard to pull for me ; apologies if i did not get clear at some point! ![]()

I thought this was all bullshit too, until I tried them. And not just wearing them for a few hours... I'm talking like a few weeks. Now I wear them nearly 12 hours a day. Why? Cause I work in IT and stare at 4 screens all day... then I wanna come home and play SC2 or whatever, and my fucking brain wants to explode cause my eyes hurt so bad. I get migraines/headaches, eye twitches, temple pressure/pain - and it's because we stare at this shit all day. Basically because of these glasses (I actually have the Gunnar Wi-Five's) I don't feel like shit anymore when I'm doing extended gaming or work related activities. And yes mine are prescription since I do wear glasses normally. It's kinda funny because I'm one of those guys who was like, "WHY IN THE FUCK WOULD ANYONE WEAR SUNGLASSES? Especially a $400 pair". People are ready to "protect their eyes from the sun" for $400 Oakley's - and then they end up wearing them for maybe an hour a day. Well when people are ready to "protect their eyes from technology"... they'll buy Gunnars. And probably pay less than a pair of Oakleys. PS I'm happy to answer any questions about the Gunnars as a USER. I don't know all the technical blah blah behind them, but I can tell you how they feel, what they do, and the results I get. UPDATE: Someone in this thread said that anyone who buys these are an idiot. Well i think he misunderstands. I don't feel like I play BETTER cause I'm wearing some glasses. No one should. While they may offer some benefit in clarity and sharpness OBVIOUSLY YOUR FUCKING APM ISN'T GOING TO SKYROCKET if you wear them. But just like people say, "Play StarCraft when you're at your mental best". My personal "Mental Best" is not with headaches and eye strain. Therefore, they can help you play at your BEST... which is much different than BETTER.

Just wondering if this is something new, or if it's just another thing where they just try to trick you ![]() Would rather buy some better quality ones that arent specifically made for gamers if i could :D

I do still think the price will skyrocket when you try to put prescription inside them , but its best to know this from the store directly ![]() You could always mount this kind of filters in any frame prepared to put prescripition lenses inside , besides the curve you could reproduce this "Gunnars" with any model that you would like , but as I said before , its not cheap because its an Order Lens in most of cases.

You buy them and then realise that the exact same thing is available without the "for gamers" tag, and 20% cheaper ![]()
