I sit on my ass a lot and the chair I use right now is pretty bad. I'd like to get something that has good back support, is comfortable & has adjustable arms/height. Anyone have any ideas?

I had one of these at work, it was actually the best chair I've ever sat in. The lumbar support was really different from all other chairs.

Really pricey though, but I think you can pick up a used one for 500-700.

That thing does look badass unfortunately I can only spend like $200 on a chair & I've had bad experiences sticking parts of my body in fruit.

I think it's best if you just go to an office-supply store and try out all the chairs that fit in your price range. Unless the chair is fully adjustable (and only very few are, aeron being one of them), different people will prefer different brands/models.

After you've determined the exact one you like, you can look for deals online.

I have this chair. Good for short periods, definitely not recommended for long periods of time. The upper back support is a joke.

MARKUS - chair from Ikea, Unfortunately not arm adjustable however height/tilt is and back support is phenominal. such a comfortable chair.

One of the lecture halls in my high school hadl ike 200 of those chairs in them, definitely one of the most comfortable chairs I've ever sat at (especially in school)

you probably didn't adjust it as you needed. and the reason that chair is so expensive is because you could have. for cheaper chairs, you have to try them out, and even then, anything more than 4 hours or so is kinda ehh

Did you read the manual and adjust the chair properly? It probably hurt your back because you didn't slide the lumbar support to the right location. If anything, you could have tried flipping it around or taking it out.

I've researched chairs exhaustively and have come to the conclusion that unless you're willing to pay $700 or more, you're best bet is scoping out your local Office Depot/Office Max, and testing out the chairs that most appeal to you; since everyone has different likes/dislikes.

I use a 50 dollar one I picked up at Staples, along with one of those stretchy cushions for the back that I found at Micro Center

i must side with ffdestiny. try it out yourself and think about what you need. if you're going to use it hours on end in a hot environtment leather for example can be quite a nuiscence.
and if you cant spend to much money it will turn in to a bit of hit and miss, as there are horrendous desk chairs out there in the lower price ranges.
definitely sit in a chair before buying.

I can't stand chairs that move around on wheels or turn--I feel like I have better posture and play better when I'm in a chair that is stationary.

I'm probably the only person on TL that doesn't use one of those fancy computer chairs

I used to use one of these as my computer chair until I scored a free office chair from Craigslist.

Any chair experts have a suggestion that meets these criteria?
- Mesh (no more sweat festival faux leather)
- Adjustable
- Good back support / posture
- Less than $200 ideally

Mine too, shit it sucks. We have a semi-comfortable chair at our family computer, but being that its a ~2001 budget E-Machine, and that other people always want to use it I just play on my laptop instead. On a shitty desk in my room. On a shitty chair. Not comfortable.

Do you have any idea how badly you hurt the next day after pulling an all nighter on the sofa? godamn sucks. You slump over and torque the spine so everything is thrown out of proportion. Not a fun feeling in PE the next day.

If you can afford it, you really can't get a better chair for long-term sitting at a computer.
You can adjust everything to the right height/ angle to fit you.

I got a Steelcase Think recently and I love it. The armrests are fully adjustable, up, down, forward, backward, in and out. The seat can be slid forward or back depending on your leg length. There is a 4 way knob for recline tension. The seat and back form to your shape with wire support so there are no pressure points. It's not cheap, but I found a floor model for about half price so it wasn't too bad. Also sat in an Aeron and Steelcase Leap when I was shopping, liked the Think the best.
