New Australian venue called the "Mana Bar," a reference to drinking potions to restore your mana in games, or possibly a reference to games like WoW in which drinking any liquid will replenish your mana.
The place looks amazing, and on their drinks page you can see a whole list of really cool looking drinks that are gaming-themed to sip on while playing games with fellow gamers :D
I think we need tons of places like this to spring up elsewhere in the world as well, what do you guys think?
I would love a bar like this to death, but I doubt it will manage to stay open for very long since it's essentially only catering to gamers. It's also very likely going to turn into a sausage-party with a few girlfriends sprinkled in here and there, not very good hunting grounds unless you swing the other way.
I suppose they could do a "girls 50% off on drinks" type of magnet, but then I fear men would start coming in drag to play games and get cheap drinks.
Wow, I want to go there. The place looks pretty awesome. Although, there is a guy chatting up a lady at the bottom-left of the photo. That is such a lie, if they were games (which I am guessing is why they would be there), they would not be chatting a lady up in public. Photoshopped!
In all seriousness, those drinks look amazing, especially Ocarina of Lime.
They released some information a few weeks back that there are plans in action to get another one opened in Sydney and Melbourne. They're planning on bigger venues for these two new places too I believe.
yeah, I'm so fuckin annoyed that they opened in brizzie. I mean, there are a few studios there, but melbourne is totally the soul of games and design in australia. I'm a tee-totaler but I would totally go out and hang some overpriced drinks there every week if a place as slick as that opened in melbourne, especially if they did all the cool stuff that that one does like tourneys and trivia and shit.
Rage rage against the dying of the light. I so hope that rumor is a good one LionsFist.
edit: rumor is legit. Places in syndey and melbourne before the end of the year according to their press. I just came buckets.
I heard about this from my friend when they were first building the place, I don't know if it would be cool to go there or if I would be ashamed, haha.
I have a feeling the price of drinks will be a bit high. They may not be outrageously expensive, but they may be higher then norm for aesthetic reasons.
It's been open for ages now. It's owned by Ben Croshaw aka yahtzee aka fullyramblomatic.com aka dude who made zero punctuation and the 5 days a stranger series.

Oh no shit!? Yeah I heard about it from a mate but never knew it was going to be this epic. Originally I heard it was just going to be a small pub thing.
Not really a place to meet womenz (or men, really) for sure, but hey, a place where you can drink alcohol and meet up with other gamers in-person? Why not?
Don't see why people are saying this is not a place to meet women. Sure taking a quick glance at the stereotypes then there wont be as many women in this place as a normal bar. But then again there ARE girl gamers, and I would say it is more likely for the average girl gamer to check this out than the average guy gamer. Then you have to take into account though, that (Again, following the stereo type) there is likely to less competiton here than other places. Not to mention that I am sure that the majority of TL's clientele would preffer meeting somewhat of a "gamer" type of woman.
