Here's a neat Chrome extension I ran into. It allows you to expand any Youtube video to the size of the window you are watching it in. This is useful when you have 2 monitors and want to watch something (like a BW VOD) on one screen and do something else on the other screen.

If you use Youtube's built-in maximize button, as soon as you click outside of that window, it goes back to regular size.

Window Expander For YouTube

In the video you can see the developer is an SC fan

This has the exact steps and I can verify 100% that it works. - Also doesn't require the downloading of any random software that might do other things to your computer besides a Hex Editor (I use Notepad++ with the Hex Editor Addon, but any hex editor will work)

FYI, where youtube is concerned, you can achieve similar results (at least on chrome) with the html5 optin. In html5 mode, fullscreen just fills the window, and then you can just hit F11 for true fullscreen, and it doesn't revert when you click away.

This is what I use, works for firefox aswell most likely every browser. Just DL that and replace it in the system folder and it should be good to go, just backup your default one just incase.
This works for any kind of video, youtube, livestream whatever

Just navigate to AppData -> Local -> Google -> Chrome -> Application -> (Your latest version of chrome) and replace the gcswf32.dll file there with this one: [url blocked] .

A reminder, every time you update chrome a new dll file will be written so remember to save this file and replace it when you do so.

Hope this helps =).

You, my friend, have given me reason to use my second monitor again.

Seriously, you don't understand how much the auto un-maximise annoyed me.

Thanks for this. I used to use the flash hack from :

http://lifehacker.com/5486698/flashhacker-keeps-flash-videos-in-full-screen-on-your-dual-monitors

which was working GREAT until one of the newest flash upgrades. I was able to watch youtube videos, movies, streams, etc. full screened on one monitor and still work on my other screen. (If anyone knows a place to get an updated 'hack' that works for the newest version of flash that would be excellent).

It requires a little technical know-how, but not a lot.

Has the locations for the mod on multiple versions.

It also works on things other than YouTube, basically for anything Flash Based.

That's nice. Wonder if you can get an expander that works for livestream, too? I like to watch my starcraft 2 while browsing. :D

Now just needs one for Livestream... All the times I tried to watch day9 daily full screen... T_T
Great work nonetheless... I might have to switch to chrome now lol
edit: Just kidding that hack exists...
Even though I'll probably know how to get a hex editor and then edit that line... I'll probably get fucked when flash updates

Re: everybody wanting the same for live streams, other flash video, etc.

That's what the full screen flash hack posted by thundertoss and AbyssV3 does. Again, the downside is that whenever there's a new flash version, the hack stops working (until everybody figures out the new address to change).

edit: everybody is editing lol, I guess I should assume people can read

I've only tried it on Chrome but most browsers have versions around that support html5 video. Works with most videos.

There's a program that'll do it for you, but I can't find the name of it. Should have it at work tomorrow, though.

[Edit]
Oh, it's Ignoflash.

The last update broke it for Chrome, but I fixed it by undoing the fix and then redoing it.

Can you elaborate on the utility of this?

It's the Chrome equivalent of modifying that bit in flash that tells flash to return to regular after losing focus.

It lets you have flash fullscreened while doing something else, e.g. on a second monitor.
