Sorry I have to rain on your parade, but Contact was a bad movie, just badddd.
lol, hey don't worry if jake busey is a terrorist. There is some random rich dude who hid his identical billions dollar project in china and no one is aware.

guess you don't notice that the "debris" appears to go behind the tether(which if it did, would mean that the "debris" is multiple kilomoters across). not very sharp there charlie
now, the explanation of it just being translucent dust illuminated by the sun and very near to the camera is reasonable, and I had heard that before. your explanation sucks though and doesn't explain anything.
jello: I'd have to do some research into that. it's just a random youtube comment. lots of people attempt to post explanations that doesn't mean it's correct. you can't just hear something that sounds possible and go "there you go case closed", that's stupid.
why can't debris be below, above, behind, in front, to the side? Who said the debris has anything to do with the project itself? And all the objects of debris look much larger because the video is washed out and the light is reflecting. They did say that it is approaching sunrise.

I always wondered how the hell do you hide something like that? Did the US not used to take satellite photographs? Now wed just see it on google earth lol.

either the debris is translucent and close to the camera, or it is in reality huge and behind the tether.
it can't be one or the other. if it goes behind the tether, it must be huge, because if it is farther away than the tether, and the tether is huge... well.. obviously it is huge as well. (to give u an idea, the tether's length is in the kms, and it is like 90km away (or maybe more i can't remember)
the reason it can't be one or the other is that "large debris" does not turn invisible when it passes in front of objects, as far as I know. however small particles may.
This is a video of a directional nozzle being fired on a 3rd rocket stage or a decoupling satellite just out of view to the left; the video image has been cropped to hide it. The flash is the nozzles firing, the "ufo" changing direction is a piece of debris being hit by the nozzle exhaust, and the "missile" is yet another piece of debris caught in the exhaust off-screen to the left. no aliens here, sorry.
There you go.
ok, after doing research I have found multiple sources claiming unedited video and that video is the exact same
also, if u look at the video, the ufos have different trajectories and different sources from which they move. given that they are so far away, your explanation seems very unreasonable
after watching a video of expert analysis he goes to make a great point which pretty much ruins the explanation you give
"debris could not *stop*, wait for half a second, and THEN accelerate away. if it was being pushed it would accelerate away in the opposite direction immediately"

Why would it turn invisible, the shadow would be coming towards the camera (sort of) because it is approaching sunrise if that's what you mean. And the debris don't have to be miles long because even the smallest thing could be reflecting very brightly. And if they were a bunch of space craft why the hell is the audio of the people so uncaring, like it's just some standard space shit, which it is. I've seen other nasa footage where the astronauts were like "Wtf is that?" when they didn't know what something was.
Here is a diagram Sorry if it's reversed, can't really tell from the video. But even if it was it would be the same thing the other direction.
PS- the random debris could also just be spinning akwardly so that they seem to turn invisible at points because only 1 side has a bright reflection, or more correctly, one side doesn't have a bright reflection.
PPS- the tether may be miles long, but how thick is it? I doubt it's miles thick. Ever seen an aircraft shadow pass over you? They're pretty small and the shadow passes over so fast that you barely even notice anything. So imagine that for something traveling even faster ,90 miles away.
Guys stop being stupid. Lets first say that the chances of it being an ALIEN space craft is just so small. That video is hardly conclusive evidence that aliens exist and have visited us, and that the little spec you see in that video is actually a mother ship kilometers across.
Lets ignore the countless logical and more likely scenarios and focus on the aliens. Yeah great idea.

So, any1 wanna take a crack at it? Airplane size, two or four rocket engines in the back, by the looks of it none of the them running on conventional rocket fuel (liquid oxygen, liquid hydrogen).
P.S. Not sure if I'm getting this right, but there seem to be 3 or 4 different objects on the video above, 2 leaving yellow trails and one with a white'ish comet tail and the 4th one @ night with the lights.
wow i probably pressed play 50 times thinking my computer was lagging lol

argue that :/
yes it could. By the definition above about some rocket blast. The initial blast could stop or slow it, and the second stronger stage (which happens milliseconds later) could send the slowed object off flying.

well, maybe. i guess it's possible but this explanation seems even more far fetched than it just being ufos to me.

From the video itself
astronaut 1: you guys getting the image?
astronaut 2: franklin we see a long line a couple of star like things and a lot of things swimming in the foreground, can you describe what you're seeing?
astronaut 1: well the long line is the tether and umm there is a little bit of debri that flys with us and uhh its illuminated by the sun at such low angles etc
This doesn't sound like they saw anything, if there were kilometer long space ships flying by I think there would be some more investigation and they would have said something. Unless of course this is a conspiracy and all the video was edited out.
You you said what makes it so unlikely? I mean come on, I don't think I need to outline that to you, it really should be obvious. The whole traveling thousands of light years, finding the obscure planet earth etc etc.
This was taken in what 1995? So the camera quality is awful, I think its just debris which makes sense because it started right after the tether broke, or it could be artifacs or dust, or the fact they are filming directly into sunlight, which in space is incredibly bright.

really?
Not sayin the video looks real or that aliens are real, but this argument I hear all the time and it is bad. Who knows what the fuck they are doing when they are floating around and/or flashing lights. Are they studying and observing us? Is it just a robotic probe? Is the light actually some kind of power related thing?
Like seriously, if you assume they have the speed of light tech- then why assume that it's 'just a big flash light'?
i was just being cheek.
of course if its actually aliens i would have no idea what it is they are doing.
a shitty windows movie maker slideshow of a bunch of grainy pictures on youtube. Im obviously convinced.
