God I love this game but what the fuck =_= it seems so corny . . . I'll still watch it though just cuz I can't resist Tekken.
Information from IMDB
Plot Summary:
A Young Man Who seeks revenge of his mothers death. He finds his grand-father, Heihachi Mishima, and pleas to be trained. When the Mishima leader announces a "King of Iron Fist" tournament. He finds out that his mother's killer, OGRE, will be participating in the tournament. He must fight against the worlds top competitors to achieve his goal with no interference.
In the year of 2039, after World Wars destroy much of civilization as we know it, territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations; the mightiest of which is the Mishima Zaibatsu. In order to placate the seething masses of this dystopia, Mishima sponsors the King of Iron Fist Tournament, or Tekken, in which fighters battle until one is left standing, who in turn will receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth. We are introduced to this violent world through the eyes of Jin Kazama, a rebellious teenage street fighter who enters the tournament in order to avenge the death of his mother that he blames upon the Mishima Zaibatsu's most powerful and controlling chairman – Heihachi Mishima. He knows that the only way to get close enough to Mishima to kill him is to win the tournament, but in doing so, he begins to uncover his own past and inner demons as well as exposing a dark underbelly to Tekken that threatens the very existence of humanity.[3]
Actors (just a few of them for the key characters):
Hyun-kyoon Lee ... Hwoarang Jon Foo ... Jin Kazama Ian Anthony Dale ... Kazuya Lateef Crowder ... Eddy Gordo Anton Kasabov ... Sergei Dragunov
Notes:: - The movie refers to T5:DR - Release Date: 5 August 2010 (USA)
This movie is probably going to suck like most game based movies (especially from the fighting genre). They're going to destroy my favourite fighting game T_T. I don't have any expectations to be honest, and I doubt I'll go to the cinema to see this. Tekken's story line is kind of screwed up anyway.
Movie looks like crap from the trailer and does no justice to the actual game ... but I'd still probably end up watching it when it comes out in theaters just for the sake of it being a Tekken movie.
- Release Date: 5 August 2010 (USA) and I have just seen this trailer. wow.
The reason there wasn't a Tekken Movie before was cuz of the buttload of characters. But seeing the trailer there are still butt load of chars. lol. I hope there is a Kuma, how sick would that be.

Same here. I can already feel how the movie is going to be such a piece and I'll fucking convulsing when the characters say stupid shit about "honor" or "I fight cuz of ..." But yeah fucking love the game.

LOL a man vs. bear scene where the bear hugs and does a shitload of damage.
My inner Tekken fan weeps. If it's as bad as the DOA movie it'll be hilariously awful, but still. I....actually enjoyed the first Mortal Kombat movie though. It was pretty lulzy.

I agree with this... hopefully it's like the first MK movie.
I don't give a rip about story (to an extent *cough* avatar TLA *cough*) but as long as the action is good and the characters fit their game themes, I'll call it a win.
Awww, this could be awesome, but it could just as easily suck. My favorite, of course, is Jin.
The only real reason I'm going to see this movie, other then the fact that I'm a Tekken fan, is to see if Jin turns into a demon like he did at the end of Tekken 3, was in Tekken Tag, and appeared in Tekken 4.
Regardles, would still like to see it.
Ps. Where is King? Wheres Hworang and that log guy?
I'll probably watch this just for the fight scenes, turn my brain off and throw all the dialogue and plot out the window. Seems like the only way to enjoy it
There better be some electric wind fists in this. I didn't know Dragonuv was going to be in this (he's effing awesome). I guess he won't have any lines because we doesn't talk in the game hahaha

Is this some sort of joke saying that street fighter the movie was terrible? Sarcasm doesn't come across on the interwebs very well...
Well the movie looks cool but I doubt its worth buying a ticket and watching it in the cinemas... I'll just rent it on DvD

Dude its pretty damn obvious in this case -_-;;
See I thought so but I was just making sure, since I didn't know anything about the Streat Fighter Movie

I doubt a punch from a 175 pound man would be able to lift and juggle like a 250 pound guy lolol if they actually have it in the movie it's going to be considered a comedy.

If Bruce Lee were alive, there wouldn't be a Bruce Lee tribute character in the game in the first place.
Edit: Zerg_Russian beat me to it, lol. And yea, Legend of Chun Li was awful. I think Ryu or Ken was like played by a black guy or something and Gen (the old ass man dying of terminal cancer) was played by like a 25 year old. So ridiculous.
The trailer looks corny as hell, but I'm going to watch it anyway. Also, a good amount of the cast are actual martial artists, so who knows, maybe the fights well actually be good.
The main character is different, the revenge and RAGE drives him... is Idra the main character? I will watch the movie. Hell i will even smoke up for it after long time - gonna be fun
Looks bad. They're actually doing the tournament? That's quite difficult to do without making it lame. They should have made it a dark meaningful spin-off.
I feel like this is one of those be careful what you wish for scenarios in that its pisses me off that every time a movie is made off of a game or animated series in which the main character is asian, a white guy is always cast in the movie version. Well I got my asian, he just appears to be the biggest fucking twinkie in existence.
if only this was based around lei and we could watch another drunken master movie
what's with that axe and the huge chain? And a staff? THAT'S JUST NOT REALISTIC IN TEKKEN
and where the funk is mokujin? A 2000 year old oak training dummy thing has to come and battle the evil. I'm sure it's acting will be just as wooden as the rest of the cast
dunno what you guys problem is. as long as it has decent fighting scenes it will be ok. its not like the story or anything matters in anyway. cause we all know that the story in tekken games was a) minimal and b) absolutely retarded.
other then that i dont even know most of the guys in the OP. after playing a bit of tekken 4 i never bothered again with any of em. tag tournament was best.

This is gonna be so good. Too many negative nancies. This will be superior to the original Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. It will claim it's title as the greatest fighting game movie of all time. Precariously perched atop the ultra competitive fighting game movie throne. King Movie imo.

Actually tekken already has a so so reputation. Or at least for several friends of mine who love fighting games ( "bla bla bla tekken is crap bla bla bla go play sf4/blaze blue/ah bla bla").
On a more serious note, it is strange that they are staring jun and in the meantime steve/dragunov... isnt she supposed to be dead? or is it asuka?
I hope they'll do something fun out of this license, adaptation of fighting games are all legends (even if it is always not for the good reasons).
Imo, this movie is going to be badass. For all of us that loves to play Tekken we only like to play Tekken because its an awesome FIGHTING game, not for the story or anything else like that. Even though this movie could have a terrible storyline and terrible acting, the FIGHTING is going to be bad ass. Most of the actors are professional martial artist and have tons of film fighting experience. They didn't just throw in unexperience fighters in the cast of Tekken just to make the acting and story great. Also the action coordinator and fight choreographer is a bad ass that most of you should know who he is when you see him.
Also heres a series from the show Stunt Stars they did on the movie Tekken
If you have the time I think you should check it out ^^
not gonna lie, this movie is not half-bad. 7.5/10 on IMDB and it exceeded my expectations. It reminds me of an old jackie chan movie with the so-so storyline, no crazy ass stunts, somewhat realistic fighting, and girls in tights.
officialy this movies is a utter crap... i spend 20 min to convince my GF to wacht it with me... now shes looking at me probably thinking im a retard :D
I actually saw it, and it was so bad it was good ... some good action but the plot was horrible it didn't make sense, I looked up the back story as i never played tekken and it was close to the story of the game but still made little sense.
I just finished watching this movie, I was so curious to see how it would be. It wasn't very good, as everyone has expected. The fight scenes were very average. The storyline was very shallow (as most fighting game movies are I suppose). I wish they could make a story where it didn't involve a tournament.
This movie is a cross between an A and B movie. Wouldn't recommend this honestly, I would rather you re-watch the first MK movie than watch this. I also lol'd when I first saw Heihachi. Some disappointments as well as what I thought was a little strange below + Show Spoiler +
- Jacks aren't the big ass military robots you remember them to be, they're black ninjas with kendo masks running around with FN P90s. At first I thought they were part of the Mishima Tekken Force but sadly they're Jacks - Law is slow and uncool and he gets defeated very early in the movie. - No electric windfists - Apparently the world is divided into several corps and the US corp is called Tekken...I thought this was so stupid. - Coffee, chocolate, and oranges (among many other things) are like drugs...they're scarce and you need to go to a dealer to get them for a high price. - Global dollars...this is worth more than what ever other currency was available except this works everywhere I'm guessing, like a Mastercard. - Costumes, although looked accurate to the game looked very tacky in real life :/ - Jin's voice was annoying and for some reason they announce everyone's full name but never his. He's just Jin.
I think asian movies have the best fight choreography (i like Donnie Yen's). Its fast and brutal, even with weapons. Makes other films' choreography look like molasses.
I never expect movies like these to be good. I love the tournament thingie, just a bunch of fight scenes basically. Since these types of movies never have good story etc. the fight scenes get really important.
This is REALLY disappointing. They could've atleast hired martial artists to play some minor roles instead of bad actors. The Martial artists would've atleast given us some nice moves, the bad actors fail at both spectacular fighting and acting.
The only cool thing about this movie is that Jun Kazama is played by the same girl who was Daniels girlfriend in the second Karate Kid movie, which brought back some nice memories, that's it.
I watched this movie some while ago. For normal fighting movie it would been ok,but as i know that is tekken movie i cant help thinking that whattheflux, story and characters are.... ><
It probably won't be that bad. Have some faith people. And if all else fails you can always watch the original tekken movie (cartoon) cuz I thought it was pretty decent.

Yeah it was pretty good imo, they could have made more tough.
Erm....Some games just aren't meant to be put into movie form. Tekken is one of those games. Besides, the cast for the movie just doesn't seem to do justice to the original characters =\
finished watching this. The whole cast list on OP was a lie, of course they cant fit that many people in a 1:27 movie.
At first it was okay, but in the mid fuckign Yoshimitsu showed up with a sword then it became a weapon deathmatch. They fought with weapon for a minute then they threw it away. wtf?
Yoshimitsu was actually only thing i looked forward to, i played tekken 1 on psx a lot as a kid and yoshimitsu/king/heihachi were the coolest characters, never used anyone else when playing versus with friends.
Oh and the movie sucked big time. Dont waste your pennies on this one.
Lol this movie was so horrible.... I love the tekken series and I think they definitnely could of squeezed more charecters in an there was so many oppurtunities but the added a story even though they knew how horrible it was going to be....
craig marduk doesnt even FIGHT in the movie he's just there as Jin's bar buddy or something, this movie was so freaking terrible. I'm so glad I didn't pay any money, heck I felt like they were laughing at me that I actually watched the whole thing.
