Maybe post your opinion too, because 3 lines aren't acceptable here for an OP. so mean BUT TRUE!

No... If anything, it's his sucky PC or the servers. No, I think Ustream just has inferior connectivity to the internet. Maybe they use a cheaper blend of backbone providers but it's true that much more people complain about lag issues, especially those who don't like in the United States.

I definitely prefer livestream. ustream's lag makes me rage.

I prefer livestream, only because my computer seems to not like ustream. There are certan streams (specificly mystlord and roffles) where it displayes "off air" despite the fact that other people in the stream are talking about the match. I have yet to experience anything like that on livestream.
|
Livestream. uStream always goes off air so I can't even watch anything, which is annoying because most have converted to uStream.
|
i dont even watch streams that are on livestream because it lags soooo bad both ustream and justin.tv are solid imo
|
I normally prefer ustream, but recently a number of the streamers using ustream appear off-air when they most certainly are not (I can see other people commenting on the games and I've had friends pull up the stream while its off-air for me). Its quite frustrating, and has led to me watching far fewer matches than I used to

ustream for a few reasons. 1) Managing Livestream sucked. With large numbers of viewers the stream will crash every 12 seconds (I'm talking about ICCup.TV and Day[9] numbers here). On ustream, every few hours the stream will rack up a couple minutes of delay.
2) Chat is easier. ustream uses IRC as its backbone, which makes moderating soooo much easier. Plus, I can disable the chat and run it from my IRC client. On my old PC, popout video + third party chat client is the best combination.
3) Stream quality - ustream is just so much better.

From a consumer (watcher) perspective, I have had better quality and connectivity experiences with live casts on ustream.
|
Livestream for me because: a) uStream bug doesn't allow me to watch uStream streams half the time. Needless to say, this is ridiculously stupid. b) Livestream is a lot easier to use and manage as the streamer. c) You can go over the 500kbps limit using Procaster. People saying you can't are simply wrong. d) uStream fps seems to bottleneck a lot when I stream with it and watch other uStream streams. Not always, but a lot. e) I like Livestream chat better.
|
Livestream with Procaster can make iPhone compatible streams (no app required, works in browser) so this wins for me. A few restreamers use this setup making it possible for me to watch live SCII on my iPhone.
The Ustream app only lets you watch a few featured streams, none of which cover live SCII tournaments.

As an American JTv is just too good. I don't expect it to ever catch on for TL due to a very disperse player base from around the world. For Americans though... JTV is as good as it gets.
|
do u have to have a cam for justin tv and ustream? cuz i would use those rather than livestream but it seems i need a cam whihc h i dont have so i just use procaster with livestream
|
my only beef with ustream is the logo covers unit pop, and chat login is buggy as hell.
|
Ustram has been a huge letdown lately anything works better than that, Justin being the best by far.

livestream is the best, usstream sucks

For streaming Livestream just makes life so much easier. I tried both JTV and Ustream but shit was so complicated even when I got it set up and running. I like pressing "Go live" and not having to worry about anything else, with music playing along with game sound AND with my microphone working without me having to listen to my microphone repeat itself in my earphones. Setting up that without buying a proper mixer for ustream/JTV is horrible and just not practical, so livestream is preferred for me.
On the other hand, I much prefer watching Ustream and JTV because there's less risk for lag and in general (I guess the more techsavy tends to lean towards the two) the quality is superior.
Edit: I realize it's an old thread but I remember searching a lot when I started streaming for this type of thread so figured I'd just add my own take. Not to mention that it was already bumped!

livestream, cause zeroboy is great :D i hope there is something like that for ustream
|
I always use UStream. Whenever I use Livestream I end up butting up against the 500kbps cap, which causes issues. I'd much rather stream at HQ with UStream, even if FMLE likes to crash my PC -_-.
FMLE/UStream is pretty easy to use once you've done it once or twice.

livestream 1:0 ustream duh..
wait tho, has ustream woken up and made an installable stream program yet? or did they always have one and i didn't look properly and might of missed it?
