Plenty of great figures in history have had epilepsy and they were able to do extraordinary things. The kite-flowing, honestly, is not... extraordinary at all.
Yeah, jesus christ, this.
Two people, one of which is VERY VERY VERY close to me have epilepsy. It doesn't make you retarded or socially inept. Hell, it doesn't really prevent them from doing much of anything, especially with the medicine you can take for it nowadays. Yes, there are certain times it will get to them... but really? Portraying it as some sort've debilitating disease that he has to 'overcome' to fly a fucking kite? What the fucking christ?
Nothing against the kid himself, he's just doing what he likes, but fuck the exploitative people who put together and watch the show for this type of thing.
in times like this, its easy to find the person to blame

Other countries must be laughing so hard at us right now. This show is pathetic imo
I have nothing but love for the US for doing their part to keep Piers Morgan off British television as much as possible. On behalf of a nation, I thank you.
Sorry, but IMO this show is just so bad compared to Britain's Got Talent. Plus it doesn't have Simon, although it does have Piers. It just doesn't have as many good acts IMO.
But my main point with this post is about the general public. How retarded are they? There's some kid who talks all weird and stuff and plays on the emotions of people who want to believe that they're seeing something beautiful when they're not. It's a kid flying a kite. I have to agree with the posters above me that say this is in no way exceptional.
Go learn how to fly an indoor Kite, and then tell me how much 'talent' it takes compared to many of the other acts that have been on this show's history. Not only that, singing GOOD requires more talent than this, and I can already say I've seen way too many singers and dancers on these shows.
Give me more amazing acts like the quick change artists please.
i hate the camera work. i don't give a damn how the guy on the side of the stage feels, and i dont need to see the gaping mouths of audience members. its like they are trying to tell me how to feel about certain acts, instead of just showing the act and letting the audience decide for themselves. also, sometimes i can barely even see whats going on because they move it around so much >_<

Engineers ftw !
Probably because it has been done like a billion times.
Seriously, like really old.
oh come on. Ive seen those japanese guys years ago too but this was still really cool and very different. Japanese thingy was incredibly funny, this was pure awesome because it was a very good musical/dancing performance. Plus in this one you dont actually see the dudes in black which makes it a lot better.

It wasn't really different. It's essentially the same type of act. The only difference is that in the Japanese version the lights are on since it's like a variety show whereas in AGT they just turned the lights off and used black lights. It's still cute, but unoriginal and really not that great or impressive...
I think you're letting yourself be impressed a bit too easily. There was nothing challenging at all about the act be it the "dancing" or the choreography. Pretty much any group of people could get together and organize the same thing within a day or two so long as you give them the equipment. I don't see why this kind of act has any place in a talent competition. It requires little to no talent at all. But then again, that seems to be the case with a lot of the acts featured on America's Got Talent...
I stopped watching this show pretty much for this reason. It's way more about entertainment value and exploiting sob stories than actually focusing on difficulty, creativity, or legitimate skill. I suppose that's what it comes down to in any popularity contest, though... especially when you're trying to compare so many different types of acts. I would watch Idol or ABDC over this show any day...
I don't like Michael Grimm, he strikes me as fake.
And that hat annoyed me as well, it just seemed fake too. I was kinda surprised and glad at the same time when the woman in the jury asked him to take the hat off.

Apparently they are dirt poor and dance in the streets, but somehow they are able to come up with a custom mix of Lady Gaga's "Telephone". Plus, they are filmed in streets that are implied to be the streets that they dance in.
Sometimes I think posters bring up some conspiracy theory and stick them into a thread.
Really, unless all these guys are great actors and act amazingly emotional, you can see that this means a lot to them, and that's what sealed the deal of them being poor.
i dont think those two girls were really good. They were ok. But I hate it when they talk about what problems they have and get sympathy. Same with the kite kid. No offense, it gets boring but after playing the pity card, you seem like an asshole buzzing them. I thought fighting gravity was really good though.
It's a known fact that producers do this sort of thing on some reality shows. The one that really sticks out in my mind is Last Comic Standing. Now I'm not saying that dance group was planted there, but we got to be weary. I've participated in several reality shows and really, it's not all what it seems to be.

Oh I see, I'm impressed too easily lolol. I happened to like the choreography, I guess I'm kinda stupid because of that huh? You say you need no talent at all... performing it might not be hard but you gotta think of it first. You could compare that to music, most of the beatles songs (or > 90% of all music you hear on the radio really) are pretty easy to play/perform, but writing it and having the idea - that's the hard part. You say that it's essentially the same type of act... Uhm not really, one is a parody/comedy act, the other is a "dancing" act. Just because they use the same technique doesnt make it the same. Otherwise you might as well say that a musical is the same as an Opera. Also The Beatles and Metallica both use essentially the same equipment. And they might just use the same exact finger picking technique in some songs!! Guess there's nothing creative about them then.
The fact of the matter is it's been done countless times. Other than that the beat was awfully slow and that makes it much easier to get the timings right and coordinate it. There was nothing mind blowing about what they did. They kept the act fairly simple and it worked. Good for them. The thing is what are they going to do next round, and the round after that? They said it themselves, they aren't dancers, but engineers. They know the physics and math, but at the end of the day can they really mix up the pot more? Guess we'll have to find out.
If I were a judge I would move them to Vegas, but I would tell them "You guys will have to turn up the heat and show us something absolutely mind blowing."
