It's not a real drug, but I keep having these emotional relapses about my ex. It's gotten a lot better, I mean... it's been 6 fucking months, but I still think about her a whole lot and like twice a month I get these really intense feelings of sadness and stuff. I think it's some kind of addiction, since my brain tells me that I can't live without her, when I clearly have no trouble doing so.

It has, however, made me like MMOs, so I have been playing Runes of Magic with my brother lately...the only upside is that it's free.

If smothing pot once every 4-6 months is an addiction then I guess you caught me you stupid fuck. I haven't been to a dealer in 4 years. If you only smoked once every 4-6 months you myswell say "I don't smoke pot" ![]()

And yea i've played WoW and it was awesome, was i addicted? I don't know because one day my payment subscription ran out and i just never renewed it again. I felt no withdrawal effects or the urge to return after that.

And I smoke pot, but wouldn't say I'm addicted. I enjoy it a lot, but if I need to pass a drug test or don't have any money I have no issues going without it. I don't like it, but I don't start fiending for it either.

I don't want to get into my own story. I won't use up the remainder of this page to talk about the causes of non-chemical addictions either. I'll just try to stop you from installing wow. You obviously know that we can't reach in through our computer screens and close the download for you. The power to do this comes from yourself. You have to be able to control yourself. If you don't you'll just fall back into that cycle of yours, playing all day, If you're like me, you're probably just skimming everything I'm writing and browsing something else, because you're jittery from wanting to play. Don't skim, take some time to read. Now to quit an addiction, you obviously have to want to do it. You have to admit to yourself that you are addicted, and that you will not be able to help yourself if you install the game or get near it. Playing wow for a long time can only make your life worse, you must understand that, and so you have to stop your download right now. If you haven't already, get a friend to delete all your characters. Another step to quitting your addiction is to know what it is, and to find its cause. Your addiction isn't chemical, your body has no chemical imbalance that would make you more susceptible to playing games for a long time (unless you are fatigued). It's simply a large number of neurons holding your fond memories of the game. It's obvious that your memories were formed by playing the game, but for what reason? Well wow is simply something that demands your attention, therefore the memories formed are stronger. If you used the same attention you used in wow, for reading your ninth grade history book, I bet you'd be able to recite to me all of the dates of Napoleon's battles lol. Ok so wow focuses your attention towards the game, and lets you escape from other things. Now I think it's commonly accepted amongst addicts, that computer addictions in general are formed by a fear (usually of not living up to one's expectations). So your addiction to wow is probably caused by a fear of not living up to your expectations. However, after you're done with wow, your expectations will still be there, and your work will have grown along with your fears, leading you to want to procrastinate again. This is the danger of the cycle. So how do you quit the addiction? You can't, you'll have urges to play for the rest of your life. People heavily addicted to alcohol, who've stopped drinking, haven't quit their addiction, because if they ever drink again, they'll get addicted again. Your addiction will always be there just like theirs. Only they can get rid of all the alcohol in their house, you will always have access to a computer. You can try to focus on other things, and get your mind off wow whenever you think about it, this will decrease the frequency of the urges to play. You've proven that you alone are not able to manage yourself near a game. So go somewhere where there can be people that will stop you from installing wow. Whew...that was a lot. Good luck!
