Extracting .nrg files onto harddrive

I recently got .nrg final fantasy 7 files, and I want to extract them to my harddrive so I can obviously play the game. I've tried Nero Burning Rom, which was recommended by some forums that I googled, but the only way it can burn them is onto a CD, and I was wondering if there was some kind of alternate program that can do this (free or shareware but able to do this for free).

does alchol 120% do it? i'm not sure..i use hte full version of nero..

these are cd image files (exact copies of a cd in file format) made with nero burning rom. in order to use them you have to either burn them back onto a cd or mount them with a program. there are a lot of progs which install a "virtual" cd drive that enables you to access the files in the same way as if you had burned them. look for "alcohol 120%" or "demon tools".

You should go download daemon-tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/portal/portal.php) and install it, after that you just go virtual cd-dvd-rom / device [0] / mount image, then u simply mount that images you got. Daemon-tools makes the computer think that u actually have the cd in.

Use Nero Image Drive. That Should Do It. Is Just Like Any Other Virtual Cds Maker !

Thanks for your help guys. I'll try Daemon tools and if that doesn't work I'll try the other stuff you suggested.

Nero Image Drive isn't free though, right?

Okay, the files basically are 4 cds, 1 install and 1/2/3 disks. I extracted the install using isobuster (thanks silence, this one was most userfriendly and intuitive), but I also have Daemon Tools installed (i think i'll need this). When I run ff7, it says, please insert 1/2/3, and obviously since its not in the cdrom drive I'm half-fux0red. How do you trick the program into searching elsewhere? Aka I extracted disk 1 to my harddisk, and I would like the program to search there for the files.

Using Daemon-Tools, i mounted the other disk nrg files, and I can see them in My Computer, but it can't find it. I know that ff7 is an old game, might it only check the primary cd rom or something? Is there any way to make the mounter the primary if this is the case?

dude.. mount image1, launch setup from there (virtual drive), mount image 2 when requested by the setup and so on. do not extract the files contained in the image to your harddrive. it won't work.

Right, but when you load the game itself, it just says "put in disc 1/2/3, then try again", there is no "search for files option like there are for say, drivers".

I'd also suggest using daemon tools. That way you'll install from the same virtual drive which whill hold your game discs later on so probably that would solve the problem.
