The only accepted pronunciation I have encountered in any dictionary resource is "zel" - vowel sound as in "pet" - and "uht" - as in the initial vowel sound of "about". I have always pronounced it in that way. I do not believe there are any generally accepted distinctions between American and British English with regard to this particular word.
Nevertheless, pronunciations can be fluid. Just consider the many differences between British and American pronunciation.

Zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-lot

I started by saying Z-LOT instead of zealot, but after I found out it was wrong I changed it. I still think Z-LOT sounds better/cooler, but why speak incorrect english for no reason?

Ze-lit is lame. say: ziiiiiilot
|
"see-a-lot" would make sense, cause speed-lots go around the whole map and see a lot
|
exactly, its not like you say that speedlits are running across the maps. its speedlots.

The "O" can be pronounced properly as the bold letters in any of these words. about, item, edible, gallop, circus.
I like to think it's Zea- lot, though, just because that's what it looks like.
EDIT: I bolded all of about by mistake.

I pronounce it zea-lot too
