are you sure that you want your first car to be a rear-wheel drive that has its engine in the center?these cars have tricky behavior and you have to be extra cautious! if you are referring to the latest version of MR2 just buy it because it's newer and more reliable although it's much slower!and keep in mind that if you buy the RX-7 you will have to buy one more car since when it's raining you will have to leave your RX-7 in your garage ![]()

There's three different generations of RX-7; same with MR-2. Each generation is completely different from each other, not to mention the turbo/non-turbo models, etc. If this is your first car, I recommend against any of the turbo models because it's really easy to do something stupid will all that horsepower. Are you a hardcore car-person? Will you be doing your own work? If not, do you have money to pay for a mechanic who's willing to work on a somewhat exotic car? Keep all of these questions in mind. I don't know the situation in Thailand, but it may be hard to get parts/good mechanics for these cars. Both of these vehicles are awesome at the autocross or the track, but keep in mind that you may want to go for something more mild if this is going to be your daily driver.

I would get a MR2. When you're in uni you need something dependable.

by the way, i'm sure you already know this but these are really old cars and you'll have a lot of trouble finding one with under 100k mi (MR2s at least) and there's going to invariably be something wrong about the car. i would just get a newer, more reliable, and most importantly safer car for a daily driver.

Sure rotaries consume oil daily, but considering how much shops are going to charge you for labor on an mr2 (MR engine is PITA worse than VQ motors in nissans) the tradeoff would be the same pricewise plus rx7 look, perform, ride better than mr2 unless you are looking at mpg, then go toyota
