Only good part is that there is a pretty decent chance that they will get caught. i doubt there's a good chance of them getting caught when they executed this so professionally.
This type of elaborate robberies happen a few times a year around here (and everywhere else I assume) The police finds them in about 50% of the cases, according to the professor on TV yesterday anyway.

The Swedish crime fighting-guru Leif GW Persson said that the robbers could've got away with as much as 1 billion SEK (~$146 million). They're even fearing a loss of cash for the atm's in the Stockholm region.
Question is if a helicopter can even carry that much money in cash. Especially since they had to get the robbers out aswell.
Regardless of the amount: Jönssonligan exists!

Swedish police really sucks -,- , also they have their helicopters in a really remote place instead of inside some kind of military area or whatever :> Too bad we wont have any cash left in Stockholm for payday

Yeah, Jönssonligan was my first thought when I heard about this. :D

I dont understand this. Ive always thought that there are AWACS planes that carry radars in the air, thus the 'flying low to omit radar' is sort of a myth. The second part is the 'unidentified helicopter over city' - as far as I know the military can shot them down, especially after 9/11...
There is not always an airborne AWACS in the vicinity. Actually, AWACS don't fly that often (at least in France, don't really know about Sweden). Someone suggested satellite spotting : IF Sweden has that in store, either they are lucky to have the satellite overfly Stockholm at that precise moment, or it would take way to long to position the satellite correctly. And I believe the cost would be huge. Otherwise, flying "under the radar" is pretty easy with a helicopter, especially around cities. Most radars are secondary surveillance radars (SSR) , meaning they only detect aircraft taht have a transponder which is on onborad. I believe thieves would leave that off. Civilian primary surveillance radars can detect aircraft without transponders but have a very limited range (a few Km at best), and their "sight" is easily blocked by buildings, trees, etc... Military primary radars have a good range, but their sight can be easily blocked too. With a skilled pilot in a helicopterflying near a city and around forests, it could easily go unnoticed for several minutes. By which times the robbers had escaped apparently.

Hehe, I'm well aware of that. What I don't understand is why they still ask him about his opinion. I mean the man was kicked off the police force because he didn't do anything except pull a fat "consultant" paycheck.
He was hilarious on Efterlyst though :D

If people would just stop using cash. We need to up the card usage percentage and this won't happen. Sure there's problems in using cards too but not as big and they're probably easier to resolve.
I find it odd that so many think this is "cool" or actually congratulate the criminals on getting away with it.

Though I admit the bomb-bag was very funny.

they didn't kill anyone 0_o
I did not say they did kill someone. I said that a cop was killed when the same type robbery went down in Norway.

Regardless of the amount: Jönssonligan exists! The lack of cash in circulation isn't caused by the lack of actual bills, but rather that the central is broken and work there has been disrupted. Also people tend to stock up on cash when they hear something like this, thus even worsening the situation. Also, if making wild speculations will make me cool, I'd say that they might have gotten away with 100 billion dollars.

And this, my friends, is why I want to become a professional thief.

I agree aswell, if they go through so much trouble to make a "awesome" robbery they deserve to get away with it LOL. Robbing people arent very awesome tho but fucking putting a bag labeled BOMB at the police station to slow them down is hilarious.

how did they get a briefcase marked bomb onto the police helipad. you'd thought a police helipad would be watched or at the very least guarded and not in open space
