I know this is a bit random but I'm curious to know what your favorite food is. If you have any, share the wealth and post it here! You could say that it'll be a good cultural experience even though some of us may never get a chance to try them.
Some of my favorite Korean dishes are (too many to name so I'm posting 2 for now):
삼겹살 - Sam Gyup Sal (Pork meat, sometimes 갈비 - beef ribs, where you cook it on top of the grill and once cooked, dip it on salt or bean pepper paste(쌈장 or 고추장), wrap it with lettuce and put rice and kimchi [for those who likes it] on top of it and devour it! Ahhhhh~ so tasty!)
떡복이 - Spicy Rice Cakes (The name of the food pretty much summarizes it. The sauce is what makes it spicy (or not). Some people likes to put egg, carrot, rameon 라면, and/or other vegetables in it to add flavor! *mouth is drooling*)
Buffalo Chicken Pizza has been my shit lately. And none of that pizza hut bs I'm talking real NY pizza.
When it's not BCP I go for any italian dish, preferably created from scratch. Baked Ziti, Penne a la Vodka, standard pasta and red sauce, pastina baby. You can't make a good sauce with "Ragu"
Good THE BEST food consists of three things: -Grains -Tomato (however you make it, its always good) -Lots of Cheese. The more types of cheese the better!
I'm going for our local delicacy which is KARE - KARE
ingredients are: peanuts for the sauce, then some vegetables, for the meat ox tail and some beef chunks and the most important part is the fermented little shrimpys
My favorite is prime rib but specifically from a place called Lawry's Steak House in Las Vegas. It is by far the best prime rib I have ever tasted in my life combined with mashed potatoes.
I hate this thread with all the tasty food that I can't currently buy
Morcon, you first stuff the beef with eggs, carrots, sausage then after that roll the beef which would look like a big hard poop! this spanish delicacy is so awesome it's making my mouth water
Fuckers!!!! I'm going for a blood test, and I have to fast for 12 hours before I go. 1 and a half excruciating hours left....Why did I even click on this thread?!

not exactly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maultasche pasta bags with some ingredients inside and baked with tomato sauce. cosy with baguettes and a decent salad =)

Bah Kut Teh - a dish of Pig meat mostly consisting of ribs, stomach, etc etc (all the good stuff) Cooked for hours on end with tons of herb. yum yum. I believe it originated from taiwan

Had two of my favorite foods today. Awesome gyro with amazing french fries from this great Greek place down the street. And then went across the street to Marie Calendar's and got a slice of chocolate cheesecake.

I've been to Lawry's twice and I can attest to the sheer awesome of it. Medium-rare prime rib + scotch = total win.

its underrated cause its so easy to make so u make it 3 times a week ^^
Way to much asian food in here... And to much Kebap... Wtf Kebap is an average fast food, nothing special about it?
lol
There is no pic of my favorite food in the entire google world O_o...
Zitronen Filet (it's Filet which gets cooked with little lemon pieces stuck into it and a cremesauce, served with noodles).
In second comes my *hangover* menu (we eat this when we go out and are still up around 6-8 a.m., our bakery opens then and serves this ^^). Swiss Cheese Fondue - You never have a headache the next morning/after sleeping and don't need to eat for at least 15 hours :
More weight watchers point than most countries BPI while eating this we drink:
Kroppkakor, no idea how to translate it. I admit they don't look like much, but I would easily pick these as a last meal without a doubt. Pressed potato, flour and some basic stuff for the outer layer. The inner "core" is pork, onion and a bunch of spices. Eat with melted butter, cowberry jam (lingonsylt) and, if you want, regular non whipped cream.
Poutine. French Fries, Beef Gravy, and cheese curd. Possibly the only way to make this less healthy is the addition of Bacon, which sometimes happens, but it's still by far the best food I've ever eaten.

Fish and chips are sooooo good! If it's done right.
Tried them out a couple of times when i was in the UK a good few years back. Most places in London only had pretty mediocre stuff, but this one place in Scarborough (where we spent most of the trip) was REALLY awesome. Came wrapped in newspaper and everything (just like in the movies!), and it tasted so awesome I literally licked my fingers clean afterwards.
I FUCKING LOVE THIS THREAD!
EDIT: I also had Tacos earlier today. Not my number 1, but it's definitely in the top 5.

the one on the picture looks burned fish and chips is pretty nasty overall. Too much grease( both fish and fries). But it could be decent pick when youre broke and/or hungry as fuck

Hehe, I have no idea what fish and chips are supposed to look like. Haven't seen a single place that sells it here in Sweden.
And I guess our taste differs then :D I love grease, can't have too much of it. I prefer the fatter milk, my food drowns in sauces, and anything fried is eatable.

Oh man, kroppkakor is so fucking good. And then you go into a semi-come after eating them. I HAVE to make some this weekend
I would actually murder someone to eat quiche again. We just can't get it in Korea ;_;
Also I recently found microwave lasagna in E-Mart in Wangshimni and I've not eaten it in over two years so I was really happy My Mum was pretty lucky. As a child and now I'm not a picky eater really. I love 99% of fruits and vegetables.
This one is not as amazing as the one my dad and mum make for christmas but this is some paella which is definitely one of my favorites, there's spicy sausages, chicken, shrimp, scallops, rice and some spices. the greatest.
Then there's:
Beef stir fry ugh my mouth waters even thinking about it, put some of this on rice but I like it with a bit more juice but this is still awesome.

okay
Your initial complaint expressed by the yawn was that the "meat and potatoes" formula was bland and dull. However, objectively seen, without assumptions of cultural prejudice, it's clear than Oriental cooking is far more bland and dull than that of Europe.
It's inadmissible for the prosecution to change charges in the middle of a trial, you know.
But since you mention taste, I'll take the opportunity to point out that most oriental meats put into stir-fry concoctions have a hard, rubbery quality. The effort of eating them often overwhelms the teeth as well as table manners.

You implied that Roulade with Blaukraut and Kloß was dull. While Kloß is bland, you have peas in your screenshot, and therefore have no right to yawn.

When I´m away from Denmark, this is the only food I miss:
You don't become hungry again for a long time, after eating that bread.
Here is what the catering business makes with it:
Edit: found a picture with more common day style, this is what millions of Danes eat every day:
Notice the bread+eggs, its so incredible superior to white bread and eggs, that I don't understand why rye bread isn't more common. The dark taste doesn't fit well with sweet stuff as jam, peanutbutter etc. but rule with meat, fish and eggs.
Last night this thread gave me huge, huge cravings for a good asian noodle soup. So today for lunch I went on a quest for authentic asian food (not chicken balls tyvm) in Sackville, New Brunswick! After a whole 2 minutes of investigation, I found a place called Vinh's Wok, whose claim to fame was a Chinese buffet. Now, Vinh is clearly not a Chinese name, so I was hoping that this would be the common situation of a Vietnamese family opening a Chinese/Asian restaurant in some place that would never be able to sustain a real ethnic restaurant. Usually these places have some element of their own culture's food on the menu... and I was right! Hidden between the lists of chop suey and chicken balls, I found me some bun bo and different pho. Needless to say, I am now a very happy man, because there's very little I like more than bun bo. I'll be going back to have pho next time I read through this thread :D.
I'm not going to post my favorite food but this is food related so whatever. If you've ever read one of those "Where should I go in Tokyo?" threads, you might've noticed that one common suggestion was to try out small restaurants which turn out to be really good. I discovered a really really good small restaurant like 5 minutes away from my house which was pretty cool. And then I found another place even closer to my house which i've never noticed before. It turns out that it has a Michelin star. So I did some research... There are 10 Michelin Star restaurants within like... a 10 minute walking range of my house and one of them actually has 3 stars! Time to start saving up...
Poutine. French Fries, Beef Gravy, and cheese curd. Possibly the only way to make this less healthy is the addition of Bacon, which sometimes happens, but it's still by far the best food I've ever eaten.

I baptised it "le vomi de clochard" I leave you google translators gessing the meaning.
@ BlackJack No, you are not supposed to eat the peel. If its fish on top, it comes with lemons+ peel, but don't eat the peel, lol. I guess its just there for looks. All the other stuff is eatable as it is.

It doesn't look like much but it causes severe addiction! Best of all is the ingredients are cheap as fuck (milk, egg, flour, raisins), only the preparation of it is pretty hard and requires some experience.

Wow that looks like a good way to destroy my diet T_T. Looks amazing to me!
Good ole American Cheeseburgers.. = A... + bacon for A+
Breakfast, one of the most important and indeed, delicious meals of the day! Good w/ Hashbrowns, scrambled eggs and sausage of course!
Hot wings!! Didn't really used to like these awhile ago, before moving to Mississippi. I guess because I never tried them and always thought they were too 'messy', gettin' sauce all over ur hands etc.. Then I tried some from "wing stop" and they were awesome! so ya, i'm all about some hot-wings =)
Lo-mein ! + Hunan beef = pretty tasty dish. Not a huge fan of the beef, cause it's normally real chewy and takes several minutes to mince it up enough to swallow it well enough not to choke :O but lo-mein is awesome with almost any other chinese side
Red beans + rice.... yes!!
p.s. Been a lot of oriental style dishes in this thread.. Not hating though ^ ^ Good thread.. Makes me hungry and want to try some of these things.
Filet mignon -.- Real men would never eat a "cute fillet" Why would you eat anything softer than a New York or a Rib eye?. With the right preparation those 2 can be as soft as beef on a stock (kinda disgusting).
God I'd kill for a Helles (Augustiner preferably) right now, and some schweinshaxn or a halbeshaendl or a ganzes for that matter x). Or some obatzda with red onions and a breze... Bayerish cuisine kicks ass )
Or some proper gado gado or some Bali style sateh.
Slow cooked meat of any kind or some good cous cous... Sushi with lots of ginger and wasabi... Or just a fresh hering with some onions or other pickled stuff. Grilled rabbit, including liver... Getting hungry here...
How the fuck did you guys manage to chose below ten dishes??

firecracker sushi roll. it's like an orgasm in your mouth, literally... no need for soy sauce/ginger/wasabi
milk boba tea of course, and..
of course, sesame balls for a snack are the best.
chicken feet (dim sum style). unbelievably tasty, and it's not that gross as it sounds, trust me. you suck the skin/meat off the bones basically, it's just a shitload of GOOD flavor
its a vietnamese dish i ate a lot growing up, it's called banh xeo. you don't have to eat it with the mint leaves if you don't want to, but usually you pour nuoc mam (fish sauce) over it and eat it. its also known as "vietnamese pizza". its fucking awesome
and with any full-course meal, a couple of these for each man at the table will do the job to make it as enjoyable as can be
holy crap theres such a wide variety of dishes presented here.. however, 70% of them would totally not be for me =[ like the kalamari pancake balls.. or the asian pancakes with mayo over them? I mean, to each his own and all but wowzers..
Nice to see some regular items be a super delight of some people, liek someone loving everything to do with potatoes.. or good ole fashioned chocolate milk shakes being the best desert, for one person. Someone else that also loved french fries... ^ ^
good thread though! interesting to see such diverse tastes..

I would actually absolutely LOVE to try rabbit sometime. I've also heard that wild boar is supposed to be REHEHEALLY awesome, but alas it's very rare to come upon a restaurant that serves boar here :'( Also I've heard lots of good things about snake, supposed to be fairly common in the middle eastern areas if my memory's correct. Would be pretty cool to try it out.
I'm really sad that I don't like seafood though. I like a few types of fish, like cod, tuna and sammon. However the rest I can't stand. Lobster, crayfish, shrimp, oysters, caviar and stuff like that all kinda disgust me, my stomach turns just by looking at it. So it kinda saddens me, because... I mean, pretty much everyone thinks that most of these are some kind of delicacies. So they must be awesome, right?
Hello! Mango with black glutinous rice and coconut milk. Awesome Thai(?) dessert!
This is amazing. Though the Thai restaurant here I fell in love with it at serves it as slices of mango with coconut ice cream, and white rice (not sure what type) with the coconut milk mixed in already.

Oooo coconut ice cream, I've never tried it with that! Yeah, normally when I order this dish the coconut milk is already mixed in. I like the black rice more than the white rice though.
I haven't found any good places here in Canada to eat it. The best I've had so far is in Hong Kong.

That is so good. Now I need to go get it. Although usually the ones I get, its just a blob of rice, and not neatly placed into bite sizes like that.
Potatoes. I eat more potatoes a year than all other TL-members combined. There are hundreds of different ways to serve them, and I like them all.
i would really like to hear more about this. you should make a new thread with some of the recipes with pictures of the simplest but tastiest ways you cook them. we'd really appreciate it :D a lot of people underrate potatoes and it seems like you can defy that. :D
2 of you post a kebab plate at the same time, and the next person posts a kebab pizza. The fourth one posts a regular mcdonalds hamburger. That's the kind of food culture we have in Sweden, tacky taste and junk food. Ridiculous

Wild boar is quite good and I have eaten it a few times. Tastes a little bit like normal pork but with a lot of "wild" flavour, kinda hard to discribe. They are also hard to hunt unfortunately.

Bump, this thread doesn't have enough justice. Let me contribute to my own. This is named Mountain Octopus (산낚지). It squirms and moves in the plate. You have to chew it very accordingly in order for the suction cups to be unable to function so it wouldn't kill you inside your throat. Very good, I loved it mainly because it was one of the most excuisite dishes that I've ever tried in my life (I'm white-washed Korean, and still it freaked me out) I came across this thread again because I just searched up food in the TL Search Function. Man I miss this so much. Food is such a strong universal language yum yum..

This is one of the best dishes there is. It's a traditional finnish dish made out of raindeer and mashed potatos. Although the secret to why it's so divine is the lingonberry jam you mix the mashed potatoes and raindeer.
I strongly recommend people to give this food a shot You simply cannot dislike it.

This is from Chunchon, South Korea, where I was born. It's still so amazing after all these years, and you put rice or noodles into the leftover sauce on the pan and you eat it. Next time you're in Korea, go to Chunchon just for ^.
Drinking a smoothie now on an empty-ish stomach. Seeing all this made me hungry, and now I feel sick.
But more on topic:
This is the best sandwich in existence. It's called Hell's Kitchen, from a chain sandwich called Heidi's Brooklyn Deli. If you ever have the opportunity to try it, I highly suggest you do. I eat it about once a week now, and it never gets old.
Egg salad, bacon, swiss, lettuce, onion, and a spicy cajun sauce all on awesome bread (I usually get sourdough.) Also comes with avocado and tomato normally, but I'm not the biggest fan of either.

That reminds me: things to try while in New York: Pastrami on Rye at Katz Deli. No other place does it like Katz
Halal carts are everywhere in New York. Taste varies from cart to cart slightly, but they're all so good.
Anything with Mole would probably be my favorite food in the world, the amount of flavor is just unbelievable, and it has a certain proustian quality to it for me due to my upbringing.
In the same vein, Tacos al Pastor are fucking amazing.
The best non-mexican food to my mind would have to be French onion soup.

Ecuador: Fanesca with slice avocados, Muchines de yuca and fried plantain.
Fanesca: Its a salted cod/salmon stew with mix vegetables, normally served with fried plantains and fresh slice avocados. Its components and preparation may vary from one region to other, this one however is from Ecuador's Coast Region.
Muchines de Yuca: As an appetizer they're made from grated yuca filled with cheese or ground pork.
I grew up in Southern California as a kid in the 70's and In-n-Out was only a block away. Now, the nearest one is 45 minutes away. I couldn't eat there everyday that's for sure, but oh man whenever I'm on the road, it's hard not to stop!
I'm glad this is not one of those nights that I'm struggling not to eat as I'm quite full from a delicious burger early in the evening, this thread needs more Greek food
Pastitsio , the more beschamel the better
and grilled sardines Not so much cause of their taste, but cause of the Ouzo and the good company that they are usually accompanied with and the good times this usually brings
Definitely going to try that Fanesca. I just hope I can find a recepie adapted to Swedish groceries. I also dislike avocado but hey you can probably switch them out no problem.
I don't have a strict favorite food, but one thing I can never get tired of eating (it isn't my favorite, but it is convenient to eat) is a Chicken Carbonara from Quiznos.
the food doesn´t matter if u have a german beer like Hacker-Pschorr to drink with it I´m kind of missing the wiener schnitzel though.

Jesus... the nurses are fine as hell. But I guarantee that they never touch that shit that they serve there. That's so disgusting watching that video. The guy was so full of shit too. You can eat unhealthy where ever you feel like it, considering the vast majority of what is served at restaurants is terrible for you, even the supposedly healthy food they serve. It's just another one of those moments that are so irritating and disgusting to me that I can't put all the thoughts together coherently. Whatever, let the fat fucks eat themselves to death, and have their families pay for double wide caskets.

this is Sichuan style 耗儿鱼 HaoEr Yu (a type of small fish with few bones) cooked in sizzling MaLa (numb spicy) soup. You can't see the fish fillets but they are in there underneath the spice.
Spice Breakdown: You can kinda see the three different materials floating on top, right? The top left is diced chilies, the top right is whole chilies (your night ends if you take a whole bite of one of those). On the bottom is the 花椒 Peppercorn which will completely numbify your face of all sensation except savoriness- salty delight. This sort of dish is ordered for everyone at the table to enjoy. In addition to MANY types of fish that are cooked this way one finds meats, raw vegetables, congealed duck blood, dofu, bullfrog, chicken wings, pig brain, goose liver, and more!
I don't know why, but I just can't bring myself to eat solids anymore. Though beverages they are my favourite. It bothers me when people call water tasteless now
ugh I hate all of you who posted pictures..why did i look at this thread at midnight when all my food except bread/cereal ran out ....fml everything looks so good
wow, this is the first american style pizza i've ever thought looked tasty, DAMN i want one of those now
Yeah, idk what it is, but some pizza purists have a thing against deep dish. Doesn't make sense to me. Higher Meat/Sauce/Cheese to Bread ratio is good, IMO. Chicago deep dish is delicious.

You definitely should be eating solid foods. It's probably not too healthy to have a diet of only fluids, unless there is no other option (medical condition).
And I love water, it's my second favorite drink. My first favorite is Lychee Sogu from Maru in 32nd & K-town (NYC Broadway) ^_^/
dong po rou - chinese braised pork belly xiao long bao - steamed dumplings grilled eel lamb skewers sold all over china as street food life really doesn't get much better than this

wow the dong po rou made me salivate so much. I wish I can find a good place in California to purchase it.
Truly there is nothing better than simple potatoes, carrots/broccoli/other root vegetables along with a few helpings (OR MORE) gravy with the most delicious moose you can imagine shot just recently by your grandfather and prepared by your grandmother. I haven't eaten a meal that good since I was a little kid, but the dish is still delicious.

We usually eat mutton here but I dont like it because of the really gamey taste. I rarely or never eat lamb.
Sweet n sour chicken. One, when it comes to sauce on chicken, I prefer sweet n sour sauce over any other. Two, when it comes to sauce on rice, there is simply no competition: sweet n sour sauce is simply the best on rice. Sweet n sour sauce + soy sauce just enhances the soy sauce. You can't go wrong.
None of those raw/slimy/soft fishfoods look delicious :/
Anyways my cents for the post would be borscht soup, doesnt look that great but it tastes real good when made right, strongly sour taste with lots of beet. Taste is usually riched with bacon, beef and smetana. mm-m.
Haven't had one of these for over a year. Makes me sad thinking about it, and hungry.
YES! This :D
Been well over 2 years since I've had it from a street vendor in Malaysia (those are the best), it's like heaven on a plate... (well, wrapped up in banana leaf and paper )
This paella looks really cheap, tasty and easy to eat, the three things i absolutely love in food.. wait, how the hell am i supposed to eat those shrimps ? can i eat them whole ? i freaking hate it when i try to eat something and i have to clean the food first
http://www.thaipepper.net/ not this particular dish, but it looks similar The pad thai chicken, comes with fried rice, salad, and fried wonton. #8 spicy on their 1-10 scale

Paella uses Saffron as one of the main ingredients. Costs like $17 for 3 little strands of it
Despite so many people favoring local food, I must say that I find most traditional Scandinavian food to be absolutely disgusting. Raw herring, smørrebrød, ludfisk and frikadeller just isn't that attractive IMHO.
Good stuff to me Pizza with Rucola, Parmesan and Parma Ham (good ham and parmesan, otherwise this quickly becomes inedible)
Döner Kebab
Minestrone (good thing about this is that is an excellent way to empty your fridge; nearly everything goes!)
As everyone uses the original name, here it is. My grandma makes the best one of course, no doubt there ! Get the chanterelle yourself from the mountains nearby, use old bun AND THERE YOU GO. Eierschwammerl mit Semmelknödel. chanterelle with bread dumpling

This thread is so good I had it opened in 3 different tabs without even noticing.
Döner Kebab I'm a little late but I practically live off these things since I moved to Germany... My favorite one is closed till the 14th and I actually went shopping today o.o
^ He beat me to the chase, although i have seen plenty of variations on this kind of meat so far in this thread...
These two are French-Canadian holiday dishes. We just finished off the leftovers, and now I'm sad that there are none left
Tourtière Canadienne-française No, this is not «just meat pie». I can't reveal our secret family recipe either Ragout de pattes de cochon Pork stew (practically gravy with *censored ingredient 1* and *censored ingredient 2* with beef meatballs. Usually served on mashed potatoes. De, fucking, licious.

Oh I do as a lot of the districts in vienna seem to hide their lamb kebap from me..
And I really think it is much worse. The taste is of course not the same but for me it is also worse.
Honestly, I've recently come to the conclusion that chicken is truly an inferior meat. It doesn't take anything away from dishes, but it doesn't add the flavor and texture that lamb, beef, veal, venison, duck etc. etc. can.

oh my GOD yes. i used to live in germany and every time i go back i have like 15 of these things. they are so fucking amazing. oh and it has to be lamb. dont kid yourself. doner = so fucking good.
oh and good call on those chinese street lamb kebabs. they are fantastic even if you sometimes get sick from them =P. my dad and his old childhood chinese friends get together every once in awhile and grill a whole bunch of these and like triple the chili seasoning and its fan-fucking-tastic. omg food porn making me hungry at work.
Delicious local food tradition where I come from. "Rhenish marinated beef with dumplings and red cabbage". It is in its traditional form no beef meat rather horse meat Very delicious!
I don't know ow to do the image shack thing All I have to say is that this is just FOOD PORN seriously this is really funny, but only because it's so fukcing sad that people take the time to turn life's necessities into commodities. lolz

its like work. if you make work fun and enjoyable you will be a much happier person. if you enjoy your food it adds alot of "unnecessary" happiness to your life. really the moral of this thread is get the fuck out there and try all the awesome tasty food there is.
I just made some brownies a couple of nights ago while I was simmering a massive pot of chili. They look kinda like this:
It's my favorite recipe. Basically, it's peanut-chocolate chip cookie dough for the "white" part of the brownie, and it's a dark chocolate brownie batter for the "black" part of the brownie.
my favorite is probably Flan. the only issue is that its really hard to make good flan, so most of the time its mediocre compared to some other desserts. but really good flan is just so amazing.
On January 22 2011 03:52 BlackJack wrote: ^ extremely disappointed because I thought that was one of the best desserts of all time: cream cheese brownies
While amazing as well, I can't find any pictures that look closer to what mine looks like.....
Still, can't go wrong with a big pot of chili.
Only obvious thing that chili has missing is chickpeas. Those are so fucking good in chili.
1. Chesapeake Blue Crab. Best F***ing Crab Ever. 2. Best with #4. Can be eaten hot or cold. 3. Clogged Arteries? Yes, probably. Happiness? Definitely. 4. Needed with all the above. Can susbstitute with your favorite. 5. The only actual 'meal' on here. Put #1 (meat, not the actual crab) on top for best taste.
Since everyone's already posted my main favorite foods, I'm going to put this up:
If you live in NYC and haven't had this yet, YOU ARE DEPRIVED GOOD SIR. I dislike hotdogs, but this IS FREAKING AMAZING. Hotdog + Bulgogi + Kimchi + Samchoo = ORGASM IN MY MOUTH. And this isn't low quality bulgogi or kimchi neither, this is the REAL STUFF.
If you are ever in Illinois, I DEMAND you go to your nearest portillos. You don't even need to get this, it's just my personal favorite. everything there is DELICIOUS (if somewhat heart attack inducing.)
This thread is EPIC! It's late as hell, but I gotta contribute. Prepare for a long post full with things you can get in Sweden. :D (not necessarily swedish food tho, lol). Big pics in spoilers, all pics found at Google.
Smörgåstårta. (Sandwich Cake) Already posted, but oh-so-awesome. Traditional swedish food at celebrations, particularly in summer. + Show Spoiler +
"Swedish" meatballs and mashed potato with ketchup and/or gravy+jam. Classic, cheap, delicious and easy to make. + Show Spoiler +
"Rice a la Malta". Dessert; basically cold rice porridge but with lots of cream and (often) raspberry or strawberry jam.
Christmas Ham (Julskinka). Swedish tradition. Big piece of ham that's first boiled for several hours, then coated with a mix of mustard, eggs and breadcrumbs, after which it's baked in the oven just long enough for the coating to become a nice golden crust. + Show Spoiler +
Steak. Particularly one at an all you can eat buffé at "The Knife" in Miami. I've only been to the US once, on vacation, and we actually came back to this place a second time because the meat was the best we've ever had. <3 It just melted in your mouth (swedish expression, dunno if it translates right in english, it means it was f-ing great). You pick your meat right of the grill, making it even more awesome.
Sushi. Personal favourite is the avocado-sushi.
Home-made tacos. It's not just the flavor that's great about this dish - when we eat it back home we all huddle close around a big table with everything put in separate bowls and we pass it all around as we each make a taco at a time. My favorite ingredient is my own guacamole, that's praised by friends and family who've tasted it. xD
Waffles. Oh they are so good, either with whipped cream and jam or with sourcream, rom(fisheggs) and a bit of lemonjuice. We even have a day in Sweden devoted to waffles: "The waffle-day". True story. It's coming up soon I think.
Kebab Roll (Kebabrulle). One of the few things that really fill me up. (I have a big appetite). The local place, Lötsjö Pizzeria, makes the best ones in Stockholm.
Then there's a few dishes that I don't have any pictures of since they're family recipes and we don't take many pictures of the food we eat. Anyway, among them are "the Canadian Bowl" (a recipie my dad got from a former girlfriend from Canada) with rice, minced meat, worcestershire sauce and soy sauce plus a killer spaghetti-sauce with mushrooms, onions and cream.
Now I'm hungry. But it's 2:30 am and I'm poor, so I don't have any food to eat right now. Gotta buy and make something delicious later today!!! D:

God this thread has made me salivate so much, lol
I just tried to find this place. Apparently, it's closed. It looks so good, and I'll never get to eat one...
