Plants vs. Zombies is an epic "tower defense" style game, with a lot of features and amazing art.
Basically the game can last 10+ hours if you don't play it out all in one day.
It has tons of features (including a "zen garden" which you work on every day for rewards). And a ton of minigames.
I've been playing it a lot lately and beat it last night, i wondered if anyone else here had played it. You can download a free trial from the site here: http://www.popcap.com/games/pvz/#?hasFlash=true&
I encourage you to buy the full game. Support independent developers.
This is a really fun game! I played it in between my studies a month or so ago, and it's lots of fun. Only problem I have with it is that the adventure mode is ridiculously easy. The minigames are much more challenging and fun though.
It's also a nice game to give to people who don't really play games. I've gotten everyone from my sister and gf to my six year old cousins to play this game, and they've all enjoyed it
i really like the humor and the art. the game sometimes feels a bit repetitive if you've found a way to win, but it's fun nonetheless. must go now, i think i heard something in the backyard.

You should play all the minigames then. "Last Stand" is HARD, right now i've only got 3 minigames left to beat and then all i'll have left is the zen garden.
loool i played it like nonstop when i got it then like got 214124 plants in mhy garden and like collected 10milion suns then decided i had better things to do >_<

Oh come one now. Last Stand can actually be done with much money to spare if you use splash damage and garlic wisely. Actually if you use an efficient setup with gloom shroom and garlic (magnets help too), you can fill the back columns with marigolds and farm mad moneys.
Does anyone have a save of like round 4 , I did all the levels up to that point at work earlier and don't wanna go back (and I forgot to email it T_T )

Bobsled bonanza is fairly easy if you use lots of spikeweeds, spikerocks and chillis.

I just used pea-shooters, repeaters, torchweed, tall nuts, and lots and lots of chili pepper+squash
I can't believe I spent almost 2 hours playing this game x_x. I'm at level 2 right now and I have to say, those little shrooms are better than sunflowers. They have a supersize effect from mario when they turn into a big shroom. Will definitely play moar when I rage quit other games.

To fill up your zen garden, give snaily some chocolate, and afk for an hour. With a filled up zen garden you get about $15,000 per hour. Unfortunately you can't alt-tab and let it go in the background, so you actually do need to afk.
If you really want to gather cash in game, I would say something like unlimited survival with one or two gold magnets. The number of zombies approaching gets so huge at some point, that there's constantly gold lying around.
On July 31 2009 17:56 Adeny wrote: How'd you unlock the zen garden? It's starting to get repetitive so I'm only at 5-3, do I have to finish adventure first?
yes, zen garden is unlocked after beating the adventure mode, iirc. but 5-3 is already the rooftop level, isn't it? that's the last stage.

They definitely let you power way too much sunflowers
Yeah, it's kind of boring that the start of every level is spamming sunflowers on half the squares. I've tried lots of stupid combinations of plants to handicap myself into making the scenarios challenging, but I think you have to try to lose (or just play with max 2 sunflowers or so).
Speaking of powering, what build do you guys usually go for (daylight/night) Mine goes something like this (at least it has been for a lont time, I'm on 5-6 now) : steps 1-5 SFs (sunflower ofc) 6Squash , 7SF 8SF 9DSF 10SF 11Squash 12SF 13SF 14Chomper 15SF 16DSF (flower pots as needed)
I basically just mass SF on 3 rows and repel the singular zombies as cheap as possible, Squashes, Chompers, Tamales, Tall-Nuts are all pretty good at buying more time. And then my prime range is 3peater. This build nets me like 600-700 before the 5th or 6th zombie and usually before any waves begin.
For night, I'm not sure what build is better now that I have DSFs, I was going like: steps 1-4SS (sunshroom) / GS (gloom shroom) 5Water Shroom steps 6-8 SS/GS (same deal here but only the back 2 or 2 1/2 rows because fungus is cheaper ) prime damage is scaredey shrooms and those fat splash shrooms.
Also, Not 100% on this, but I think SS are better than SF, I think SF produce slower at night? and they produce half their cost (25 sun from 50). SS cost 25 and produce a little more than half their cost (15) and then when they grow larger they produce 100% (25, not sure how many small sun they give before they morph 6-10?). SS are more cost effective but you are pretty weak early/mid game and rely heavily on the free shrooms. Then once econ kicks in you usually have to do some shovel work to place harder hitters.

You can run PvZ in windows mode, i've done it for days

Potato Mine is much better early game compared to squash (25 cost vs 50). Time it takes mines to set up is approximately 4 walking squares distance, easily enough warning time. Mine recharges fast enough so that your sunflowers won't get attacked until multiple zombies appear at same time.
For night, I'm not sure what build is better now that I have DSFs, I was going like: steps 1-4SS (sunshroom) / GS (gloom shroom) 5Water Shroom steps 6-8 SS/GS (same deal here but only the back 2 or 2 1/2 rows because fungus is cheaper ) prime damage is scaredey shrooms and those fat splash shrooms.
imo, best build is to abuse sunshroom/puff shroom/sea shroom, replace puff shroom with 3 rows of fume-shroom. puff shroom is free and although it's range is limited, it's fast enough to kill one zombie. before 1st zombie dies, u can place 4 puff shrooms. the lane with the 1st zombie can have 2 puff shrooms hit the zombie without getting hit

yah, GameFAQs people tested that the tenth Sun-shroom can be planted at around 1:30 versus 2:20 for the tenth Sunflower.

fill them with marigolds
two garlics for jumpers, you can also fill the lanes with spikes 0_0

Haha, that's a very cute build. I also used garlics, but I used it on the side lanes to get them into the middle lanes, where I had a tallnut at the front, and a spikerock, and then I just bounded them when they bundled up with melons. Used a similar build on endless survival and I got to 26 flags, but I only tried once, so I don't know if that's the best the build can do.
Hey what is the zombie that goes next to the pogo zombie in the almanac? I've beaten adventure mode, puzzle, and almost done with survival apparently I Haven't seen him yet.
btw, with the imitator seed, does that help out a lot when setting up SF/DSF for your econ powering?
The key to help with this game, is not a straight-forward go here, go there, like with Hidden Object-games or Adventure-games. Instead, I'll give you some helpful strategy basics, the pros and cons of of your plants, a strategy against the different zombies, and tips on the extra puzzles and mini-games.
The times in this walkthrough are given in patches, which stand for the amount of patches an average zombie walks; this comes down to about 5 seconds per patch.
Besides Gamezebo wisdom, at the end of the walkthrough, you will find tips and tricks from the Tree of Wisdom.
Easter Eggs – funny extras
Type in the following codes during gameplay to activate them. Type them in again, to de-activate them. For some of the Easter eggs, your tree of wisdom needs to be a certain height, but often (not always, sorry if you are unlucky), you will be able to turn the Easter eggs on at any point.
* ”future” - the zombies wear retro sunglasses * ”mustache” - the zombies get a mustache * ”trickedout” - a visual upgrade of the lawnmowers * "sukhbir" - toggles the zombie's call for brains sound * ”pinata” - a shower of candy when a zombie dies (tree of wisdom at 500 feet) * ”daisies” - flowers sprout from fallen zombies (tree of wisdom at 100 feet) * "dance" - makes the zombies dance (tree of wisdom at 1,000 feet)
Basic strategy – timing your gardening
It may come as a shock, but zombies do not play nice. When you think you're almost save, and have a decent defense on 3 of your 5 lanes, suddenly two zombies appear on the other two. How are you going to stop them both!?
Timing is essential in this game. The above situation might make you feel helpless, but if one zombie is much slower then the other, that gives you the chance to tackle them both. That's why I've made a little chart below, with the average time (in distance covered by a zombie) it takes the most common plants to kill a normal zombie, and how long it takes to kill a Conehead zombie. Plant Time to kill a normal zombie Time to kill a conehead zombie Peashooter 2.5 patches 6 patches Snow Pea 1.5 patches 3.5 patches Repeater 1.25 patches 3 patches Threepeater 2 patches 4 patches Spikeweed 2 patches 4 patches Cactus 2 patches 4 patches Split Pea 2. 5 patches forward 6 patches 1.25 patches backward 3 patches backward Cabbage-pult 2 patches 3.5 patches Melon-pult 1.5 patches 3.5 patche
* Shooting a pea through Torchwood will kill zombies twice as fast as normal. * A Potato Mine takes 3 patches to arm itself, but will be eaten by zombies if not armed. It recharges in 30 seconds (6 patches). * The Wall-nut will stall zombies for 35 seconds (7 patches), and recharges in 25 seconds (5 patches). * The Tall-nut will stall zombies for 70 seconds (14 patches), and recharges in 25 seconds (5 patches). * It takes a Chomper 40 seconds (8 patches) to digest a zombie, during which time it is vulnerable to attacks. * It takes a Grave buster 5 seconds (1 patch) to clear a grave, and it recharges in 7.5 seconds (1.5 patch). * It takes a Squash 30 seconds (6 patches) to recharge. * It takes a Tangle kelp 30 seconds (6 patches) to recharge. * It takes a Jalapeno 50 seconds (10 patches) to recharge.
The Kernel-pult randomly fires either kernels, which take out a normal zombie in 5 patches (12 for coneheads), or butter, which will immobilize the zombie and takes out a normal zombie in 3 hits (7 hits for a conehead).
The Sunflower and Sun-shroom produce their first sun in 7 seconds (1.5 patch), but then take 20 seconds (4 patches) for every next sun. Recharging takes 25 seconds (5 patches).
Plant strategies
The game has a very nifty Suburban Almanac, which can be found in the main menu, that shows you a description of all the plants you have unlocked. In this section, I will give some additional hints on how to maximize the use of some of the plants.
* Chompers devour a zombie in one bite, but then take a long time to digest them. This makes them less effective in levels with many zombies. An effective way to work with them still, is to plant two chompers behind eachother, so when the first one is still digesting, the second one can eat the next zombie. You can also plant a wall-nut or tall-nut in front of them, who can protect the chomper for nearly the entire time it's digesting. * Puff-shrooms are only used at night (waking them up with a coffee bean costs 75 sun, you can get better for that money), but they are free! It takes them 1.5 patch (7.5 seconds) to recharge. Their range is 3 patches, which is just enough to kill a single zombie before it starts chomping its head off. Be carefull not to place them closer to a zombie if you can help it. * Fume-shrooms, another nocturnal plant, are your best attack against those Screen Door zombies. Luckily they have an added advantage of hurting multiple zombies at the same time. The Gloom-shroom you can put on top of it, limits its forward attack to 2 patches, but offer an extra 2 patch range to all other sides as well. However, planting them on the outside of the lawn, is quite a waste of money. * Grave buster is a bigger help then you would firstly expect. During the final wave, most zombies come from the graves, yet if you clear the graves with this fearsome looking plant, the final waves will actually be a piece of cake. Take your time clearing the graves, you have the entire level to do so, so just send them out when you have suns left to spare. * Hypno-shrooms take over a zombie when eaten and have them turn around and fight the other zombies, so naturally they are best used on the bigger zombies, like Football zombies. * Scaredy-shroom is a cheap plant which works well in the back of your defensive lines, but cower and hide as soon as a zombie comes within 1 patch of them, leaving them wide open to a chomp-fest. * Doom-shrooms are like the attomic bombs of the plant world. When they explode, they take out every zombie on 3 patches in each direction; a 25-patch area. They do leave a crater that can not be used for planting anymore though, but in time the patch will heal. * Squashes are a good final defense, for whatever you really don't want to lose. They stomp every zombie on their patch, and the first patch to their left and their right. * Threepeaters can be quite usefull in protecting a big area, and also do a little more damage with each single pea. Since they cover three lanes at ones, it'd be a waste to plant them on the sides. * Spikeweed may not seem very useful on it's own, but in combination with other spikeweed, or other plants, it will get the zombie down eventually. One walk across a spikeweed takes about half of a normal zombie's health. * Torchwood doubles the strength of any pea shooten through it. They also drive away fog in 3 patches in every direction. * Sea-shrooms are the aquatic equivalent of the puff-shroom. * Planterns light up an area covered in fog. As long as they are not eaten by zombies, they will clear 3 lanes of fog. * Split peas are especially effective when dealing with Digging zombies, who try to attack from behind. * Pumpkins are placed over other plants, and offer them an extra layer of protection against zombie gnawing. * Kernel-pults can be either very effective, or very useless, because of their random attacks. If you're in bad luck and they only shoot kernels, you won't live very long. They work best in combination with another pult, that backs them up when they're shooting the weak ammo. * Garlic can be extremely usefull, essentially completely protecting parts of the level. If you put one on the first, third and fifth lane, you basically have only got 2 lanes left to protect. You can put them next to eachother, but as the zombies change lanes, they also go forward half a patch, so they will eventually get through. * Marigolds give you coins throughout the entire level, but certainly in the harder levels, are not really worth the risk of planting them instead of an attack plant. * Cattails are planted on lily pads, but can attack any lane, giving them a very wide range of attack. They also take down Balloon zombies. * Cobcannons are the most expensive plants available, but have a huge impact of 3 patches in each direction from the point of impact. Plant two kernel-pults behind eachother to be able to plant one of these big guys. Be careful for the time they take recharging between shots though: a hefty 25 seconds (5 patches). * Imitator makes it possible to fill 2 slots with the same plant, meaning you won't have to wait as long for some plants to recharge.
Winning strat for Last Stand
Tree of Wisdom's Tips and Tricks
* Chompers and Wall-nuts work exceedingly well together. * You want two columns of sunflowers. * Snorkel Zombies... are best dealt with, with Wall-nuts on Lilypads. * Have you heard of the elusive Yeti Zombie? Some say he likes hiding where it's pitch black. * How many cherry bombs does it take to take down a Gargantuar? Here's a hint: more than one, fewer than three. Here's a more explicit hint: Two. * If you're looking for mushroom plants for your Zen Garden, you'll have better luck playing on levels where it's night time. * I wouldn't worry about permanently damaging your lawn with Doom-shrooms. In time the earth heals itself. * Have you tried clicking on the flowers on the main menu? Give it a shot! I'll wait here. * Legend has it that frozen zombies eat slower. I'm here to tell that legend has its facts straight. * Pssst! Try typing 'future' while playing to experiences zombies... from the FUTURE!. * What's cheaper than free? Nothing! That's why Puff-shrooms are essential on all night levels! * Are you hoping to find water plants for your Zen Garden? I bet my phloem you'll have the most luck searching in pool levels. * Have you noticed that Gargantuars sometimes use OTHER ZOMBIES to bash your plants? Whatever works, I guess. * Stinky the Snail sure loves his chocolate. Maybe loves it a little too much, you know? He won't sit still for an hour after he's had some. * If you think playing survival 'endless' mode only drops pool-style plants for your Zen Garden, think again! It drops everything-style. * Often the question is asked: where do you find chocolate? A better question would be: where DON'T you find chocolate? It drops in every game mode. * Grave busters, eh? Pick 'em only when you can see graves on the right side of the screen along with the zombies. That's what I do. * I've heard that Buckethead zombies take five times as many hits as regular ones. * The number of coins you receive in Wall-nut bowling is proportional to how cool you are as measure by how many ricochets per nut you can pull off. * Do multiple Snow-peas in a row slow zombies down more than just one? The sad but truthful answer is 'Nay.' * You know that zombies emerge from gravestones, right? So what's stopping you from using gravebusters to get rid of them in Survival night? Is it pride? * If you're looking for the inside info on how long a level's going to be, count the flags on the level meter. That'll set you up real nice. * Roof cleaners. Classic items. Can't recomment them highly enough. Best thing about them? They give you a shot at beating Pogo Party. * If you're wondering if feeding a Hypno-shroom to a dancer zombie compels him to summon backup dancers for you, bet it all on 'Yes.' * Make Money Fast! By Playing Survival Endless! Then E-mail Me Your Bank Account Number! * You'd think Torchwoods would douse snow peas. And you'd be correct, because you, my friend, are one smart cookie. * Those hateful Zombotany zombies! Who do they think they are, shooting at your plants? It's a good thing Wall-nuts stop 'em cold. * The Pogo Party and Bobsled Bonanza mini-games are really, really, really difficult. Wanna drop one of those 'reallys' off that description? Use the Squash. * Just when you thought jalapenos couldn't be any more useful, a Tree of Widowm lets you know that they also destroy the Zomboni's ice trails! Bam! * Once you buy the Imitater, try clicking the little drawing in the upper left corner of your Almanac to access the entry on that sucker. * I hear that typing 'mustache' brings about a terrifying transformation in the undead! * Please do not tap on the glass! Or actually, go ahead, right-click on your Aquarium Garden or during Zombiquarium to deafen your underwater creatures. * When I was just an acorn my grampa told me, 'Son, Vasebreaker puzzles are much easier if you break the vases on the right side first.' * Dancers in I, Zombie may seem expensive, but in the right situation they're worth every penny. * I had a dream. In it, cattail spikes popped balloons and dropped zombies to the ground. I don't know what it means. * Growing aquatic plants in your zen garden is pretty much impossible without the zen aquarium. Just saying. * Digger zombies violate the natural order with their subterranean ways. It's only fair to use Magnet-shrooms to steal their mining picks. * Every day brings new challenges and opportunities. Oh, and new Marigolds in Crazy Dave's Shop. * Mushroom Garden! Huh! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing'! Except growing mushrooms, that is. * Tired? Depressed? Ladders on Tall-nuts getting you down? A quick Magnet-shroom will whisk your cares away! * The tallness of Tall-nuts earns widespread acclaim due to their effectiveness vs. Dolphin Riders and Pogo Zombies. * The explosive force of a Cherry Bomb is more than capable of disloging a ladder from a wall-nut. * It's tempting to feed all your chocolate to Stinky the Snail. He's such a chocolate hog. But remember: zen garden plants like chocolate too! * Torchwood fire is hotter than rage, but Zombonis, screen doors, ladders and catapults can take the heat. * If you rely on upgrade plants in Survival endless, be acutely aware that they get more expensive the more you have on your lawn. * The Imps in I, Zombie seem weak. But they're speedy and great for fetching that last brain when you've cleared the rest of the opposition. * If you type 'tricked out,' don't be surprised if you see something wacky happen to your lawnmowers.
YETI: PS-
Zomboni is a zombie on a zamboni, and very tough because of that. Even worse, he crushes your plants and leaves a trail of ice behind him, which opens the way to the Zombie Bob Sled Team and the Zombie Yeti. Take him out as fast as possible, with a Jalapeno or Squash. A Jalapeno will also melt the ice trail he left.
Have you heard of the elusive Yeti Zombie? Some say he likes hiding where it's pitch black.
finally I found him at Adventure, level 4-10. You can meet him only when you've already finished Adventure mode one time and then play it again And sometimes he also appears on Survival Endless.
Super fast way to make money in last stand courtesy of google. Finally got my 10 slot with this build after a few runs . The game isn't thaaat short if you play through adventure twice and try to get 20+ on vasebreaker/I zombie or get to 70+ on survival endless. It might get a little frustrating on the way though .
Step 1: Download a Hex editor. I use HxD. Step 2: Open User1.dat in your Plants vs Zombies -> UserData folder. Step 3: Change the 25th - 32nd digit on the first line to " FF FF 00 00 ". Step 4: Save and open your game. Step 5: Profit (literally)

yah, GameFAQs people tested that the tenth Sun-shroom can be planted at around 1:30 versus 2:20 for the tenth Sunflower.
I never addressed this post, About the potato mine thing. The cooldown is pretty long (5 squares of a zombie walking), you can use it twice maybe 3 times before you gotta start making some de. Also it takes 2.5/3 squares of zombie advanced placement. You can't clutch it.
With a squash, the cooldown is shorter, you can use it last second (even when the guy passes the square it has a little backwards range), and it is still useful later on for clutch moments if you need it. (diggers sneaking in, or a huge pile of zombies that just needs to be flattened ^_- )
In combination you can power really hard, and this is what I have been doing. But with limited slots and a choice i'd always pick the squash. It's just better all around.
About the SS vs SF thing, I think maybe a build with starting out with strictly SS and building SF when money allows (also gives two cooldowns for econ building if you don't have the imitator yet). A combo build would be best, but obviously it takes more precious slots. And if you are using that many plants you'll definitely need DSF (actually its called TSF, but whatever) to save space later.
PS- Does anyone know if there is a way to keep the game running in window mode when you are doing other shit online? Would be cool for farming gold and zen gardening.

This build utilizes the most space and the most minimalist of defense/offense. It also reduce the amount of micro on collecting coins and rebuilding garlics, pumpkins, etc.
It will probably make it a bit easier to setup if you choose the seeds in this order: Marigold, Lilypad, Gold magnet, Magnet, Coffee Bean, Tallnut, Fume Shroom, Gloom Shroom, Pumpkin, Garlic (which I didn't actually do lawl). If you only have 9 slots You can skip the Tall Nuts and just use pumpkins. If you only have 8, I dunno, you lose with this builld.

lost a lily @ c5-r3, had to rebuild that and then I placed a pumpkin and a marigold below it. Saved the 50 sun here because most likely the ducky zombie will pop up and rape that lily again. And I can bank it in case a garlic dies. Money Gained=1580

yup he came back and ate the lily again, replaced it, pump'd it, gold'd it. Bank 100 because those garlic are in tears. Money Gained=1430 what an unlucky gold coin round >.<

replaced the garlics during the level (obviously) but in doing so I accidentally placed one in the wrong spot and had to shovel and place it properly so I lost 50 sun and pump took a beating (@ c8-r2) T_T. Added a lily and marigold on c1-r3. If I didn't screw up I could place another marigold below in c1-r4 but i need to bank the 125 in case vaulter gets at the weak pump or if the garlics die. Money Gained=1550

You can't tell here but the top magnet pump got smashed by a football team. I had to replace it. And I had to replace a garlic as well. Finally got down the marigold and lily in c1-r4. Money Gained=1640
Final
had to replace garlics. Money Gained =1960 Total Money Gained at End= 8160
Pro Tip #1: The gold magnets don't do their job 100% and sometimes miss a few coins. So what I do to minimize effort is just collect the coins that appear around the edges, the gold coins, and the zombie dropped coins if applicable.
Time i spent writing this out I probably lost 10-15k gold!
I just started playing this, because I saw the thread. I'm hooked, and it makes sense due to the fact that I always enjoyed playing games like lurker defense and turret defense.
I stopped playing mainly due to my eyes hurting, but I'm early in the game. I'm 2-2. Several people mentioned that the campaign is easy, so far is has been. Although, those jumper zombies sometimes give me a scare when I'm playing safe until I get some heavy shit.
Does the campaign get any harder, and are the mini games challenging?
In general the whole game is pretty easy compared to that war3 tower flash de or some UMS de games. But this game is designed for all ages so its got an easiness to it. It's like mario bros in fact, same kinda graphics and music. It's a pretty easy game.
The hardest levels imo are the bonus levels with the bowling or whatever, even the last level is pretty easy. You're playing for the experince anyways. The end game is the fun part mostly. (like WoW or GTA i guess).
PS- when you beat the adventure mode once, you can replay it where crazy dave picks 3 random seeds for you and you gotta work with less slots (if he picks crap). Think of it like nightmare on D2. But it's still pretty easy, if you got 10 slots.

be more effective? Your build has 28 marigolds and this one has 32. if you don't have guts you can replace the marigolds in pumpkins (on land) with tall nuts. dolphin riders will eat the marigolds on the 5th column, but you'll be able to replace them anyways
If you want money you do this: 1. Turn of Full Screen in options so you can do something else while you're farming 2. Go to your Zen garden. Water your plants as much as they want (3-4 times, also buy fertilizer) 3. Wake up your snail and give him some chocolate if you have it 4. Do whatever you want while your snail is collecting coins 5. After about 10-15 minutes plants will produce coins at much slower rate so change your date to tomorrow. You don't even have to exit game for this. All your plants will want water again and you will also be able to buy new plants. 6. Repeat 2.-5.
Perguvious, how do you deal with screen door, ladder, pole vault, fotball, bucket head zombies on rows 1 and 6 ?
Also, the conehead seaweed zombies will rape those pumpkins in the middle. And then the replacement MGs for the dolphins.
Have you used that build? add up the money for it.
Also, blah, Whenever I do something else while garden is open the game pauses. Is there a way to make it not do that? And btw, plants produce more when they are happy (glowing) and even faster when you give them chocolate too (not just the snail).

To me game only pauses if I play something, not in zen garden. When I have zen garden in windowed mode game doesn't pause. And yea, they do give more when they are glowing, that's when you give them water few times and then music or fertiliser. As for chocolate, imho it's too valuable to be given to plants.

Football zombies will get like three chomps before they die on rows 1 and 6, because there are three gloom-shrooms. everything else can't reach, so rows 1-6 aren't a problem. Conehead seaweed zombies won't have enough time to eat the pumpkin before they die. Replacement MGs... dolphins will eat the marigolds on column five but usually not the pond leaf before they die, so just replace them- you get 250 sun anyways each round, should be enough for both replacements garlics and marigolds
this one is perfectly safe though, if you want the tall-nuts for protection. You use exactly 5,000 sun. There's 30 marigolds + Show Spoiler +
maybe you don't get enough money because you use the coffee bean on the magnet-thing BEFORE you turn it into the gold-magnet? Maybe I'm missing something here >_>
ok my build starts out with 28 (or less than your builds) but it ends up with more. I have more space with my build.
What are you talking about not enough money? oh, I meant how much money you get from completing it. Not sun, if I meant sun i would say sun.
anyways, this would be better than your setup http://twitpic.com/4z1sb used a variation of this with 2 more marigolds in rows 1 and 6 (starting with less pumps) start =8100 r1 = 9960 (g 1860) r2= 11480 (g 1520) r3 =I lost due to non management here but i had netted 13380 (g1900) on this round.

I'll try your way and see . I've had a lot of success with the other build, so either way I guess
but survival endless first, to get zen garden stuff and money for wisdom tree fertilizer
edit: my survival endless build is more or less like this + Show Spoiler +
but it only gets me to around flag 40. I use blovers for balloons but the diggers always get all the way to the end and start eating my winter melons because there aren't enough magnets. soon there're too many zombonis and catapult zombies that my spikerocks die faster than I can plant them
giga-gargantuars aren't that much of a problem but it's annoying when they throw tons of imps and eventually eat one of my cob cannons

I've been using almost exactly that build, there's enough defense there that you can start it, go afk come back and replace the garlic, and do it again. The only thing you need to add is 2 more pumpkins in the water in the 5th column to stop the dolphins. I also put 2 magnet shrooms in the 4th column behind the gold magnets because otherwise footballers tear through the land pumpkins in the later levels. You only get 30 marigolds with the magnets, but it means you don't have to be watching and replacing the pumpkins all the time, which kinda defeats the purpose of just letting it run itself.
edit: also the english version is way better than the japanese version. "we are the undead" is a lot catchier than "zombie zombie zombie" (wtf)
Is there any value in saving sun points? I constantly find myself with way too many sun points after powering econ early in each level. From what I've seen, it gives me no bonuses.

in any mode except the survival modes, stocking sun gives you no bonus
but I like to play adventure and have 9990 sun at the end just for a quick lol :D
level 50 survival endless, tired of clicking will resume tomorrow
edit: for clarification- sun in survival just transfers over to the next flag, there still is no bonus or anything
wow, this game is so addicting! Just beat the single player part and am now on the survival modes, which are really fun. Post some of your defenses for the survival modes. Here's mine for the rooftop one: + Show Spoiler +
It looked a lot more organized but the gargantuars fucking ruined everything so I had to replace all my sunflowers with melon-pults..

Played this game earlier in the summer. It's awesome, but I wish there had been some more challenging parts. The only thing that gave me any problems was the minigame with the invisible zombies.
The best way to get money is by growing plants in the zen garden. Sell them after they're fully grown for mad cash.

when i sent my brother the folder through our network, it had my saved game in it.
I got unlucky around flag 150 because of five consecutive giga-gargantuar levels, plus some jacks killed my fume-shrooms. Thus my gold supply started going down
Another four consecutive giga-gargantuar levels came and eventually I ran out of gold

there's a user data folder. you can copy the stuff there. each user is assigned a file (i.e. user3). all saved games for that user would also be numbered the same way (i.e. game3_9). i used to copy these all the time in a flash drive and play in someone else's computer.
anyway, wow! i didn't know there was a PvZ thread in TL (anyone else gets confused with PvZ now?? lol)
Perguvious is awesome btw, getting to 179 flags in survival endless with no cob cannons.
i just got to 100 flags a few days back and haven't continued the game yet. been thinking of a setup that won't have any cob cannons. i'll try it now then post whether my setup works or not. cob cannons are fun though since you have to time when to use them.
I just wanna state that this game is awesome. I can't believe I didn't play this earlier on. My zerg macro mechanics really help me a lot in this game haha.
Sunflower has one of the best voices ive ever heard lol. I love this game. last christmas break, my friends and i all found it and played it, it was a great experience. "NomNomNom" - Piranha Plant
Just wanted to bump this (in light of PvZ2 which I have been waiting for pc announcement...fucking apple/android first >.< )
I bought the PvZ for my nephew on his DS a few months back, he loves it. He played the game on my computer a bit, that's why I got it for him since he doesn't get to come over very often anymore. The DS version is pretty cool.
Anyway, look at these skills:
(uses a macro to mass bungee glitch) Also curious, I know the first version for PC that I have has Michael Jackson Zombie, and the other versions (before he actually died) used disco zombie. Wonder why that was exactly.
