It's a game I played a lot around.. 15 years ago? haha. Anyway it's a game where you can pick out of like 8 robot classes and you basically have to fight other robots in a 2D style in a small arena.

With key combinations you could make funky moves. There was this big robot (who raped every other robot, totally imba) who could lift another robot up and smash him on the wall if that helps.

After every fight you could upgrade your endurance, speed and vitality (iirc). I thought of it because of the fighting game video topic and I was wondering if anyone knows what I'm talking about.

Hahaha yeah it's One Must Fall: 2097 for sure! That looks totally like it. My memory is a bit vague but I recognize the robot on the left.

DOSBox is a program used to play old dos games on a Windows environment the way you would have played them back in the day:

One must fall is one of my favorite games :D. I played this soo much when I was around 8. I'm playing this now (with DOSBOX), lots of replay value. The Nova (big bot you were referring to) actually isn't very strong. The highest tier bots are the gargoyle and shredder, jaguar too.
When you do tournament mode always choose hardest difficulty...I can't really tell the difference between the levels anyway, and you can get enhancements and stuff from beating unranked challengers.

omfg yes one must fall
this was the first game I mastered
I knew a fucking 18 hit combo with shredder which would take like 65% of opponents hitpoints with fully upgraded robots omgggg
crystal and shadow could both pull off like 22 hit combos but they were much weaker

also this game was so cool because theres a HUGE amount of easter eggs. there are secret settings which improve the game, there are addon weapons for some of the bots that you can only get through fighting secret characters which you can only get through doing secret "scrap" and "destruction" moves after winning, some only on certain arenas and some only against certain opponents in tournament mode
i loved this game so much haha

nova isnt the worst to play against if fully upgraded, but the first time you play through tournament mode he is usually the hardest cuz hes significantly more upgraded than everyone else.

fully enhanced katana with 5 hit rolling blade or whatever it was called and fireball enhancement is prolly the bet bot I think, or shredder. I dont think jaguar or gargoyle are all that good, althrough gargoyle rapes the computer like no other cause it just sucks at defending against the "throw into wall" trick. :p

chronos is one of the coolest characters ever, as is shadow. theres just incredible creativity in designing the fighters in this game

im playing it now
when I slowed down speed to the lowest possible level it became perfect hehe

also, one of the most important things, when you do play this, you should like, while you are in the main menu, hold down the keys "2097" at the same time
afterwards to to the "gameplay" setting and suddenly you can edit "advanced" settings. this is important because it allows you to select "rehit mode" which really enhances the game a lot.

rofl I think its like 10 years since I even touched this game and I still remember jaguars scrap and all his tricks I think I played this too much back in the day
