I just started playing Hon with a bunch of my friends as I am losing interest in BW because FBH and Bisu keep failing. I use the panda guy like 99% of the time. The other 1 % I use pebbles. I love to tank even though I get owned most of the time as I am new. Some of my friends take Hon pretty seriously and get really pissed when they lose and they freaked out when I died in a 5 v 5 within 4 minutes. So I am trying to get better to a) beat them and piss them off, b) not get blamed every time we lose a 5 v 5.

My biggest problems is I do not know how to deal with abilites with panda, especially ones that freeze you. Like the moment I am about to start a combo against electrician, he does some zappy shit and pretty much cancels my attack or that guy who teleports away right before death, or that bitch who keeps on making clones of me/herself, freezing me with some dark voodo shit, and killing me while invisible and I am focused on the clone.

I guess I should just use more characters to fix that, but can someone recommend me some good build orders with panda? I know the initial build of that creep killing axe, some talismens, and potions, but how and when do I transition into the next tier.

The most important thing you can do is learn all the heroes and items. Use the website or go into a practice game and play around with them. Knowing what your opponents can do is the first step to staying alive in lane. As for panda items, I don't play him much, but I think powersupply -> ghost marchers -> shrunken head is the norm past your lane items. If you could combo your spells without ever getting stunned, panda would be pretty damn imba, which is why you want shrunken head ASAP to make the best of your skills.

Actually, does anyone wanna start a practice/pubstomp team? I'm tired of playing with retarded setups in pubs, maybe we could get a few guys playing together consistently with similar heroes/roles and try to improve and actually have proper teamplay. If we actually are dedicated we can do scrims and all the other good stuff that teams do. I dunno, I just wanna get a feel for how "real" teamplay would feel, where you are comfortable with all your allies etc.

That's all fine and dandy until you start losing and then all shit breaks lose, testie's rage isn't all that exaggerated or unwarranted.

Like I said, get 5, start scrims or higher level pugs, that's the best way to go. Otherwise you'll just do the same dumbshit that regular pubbies do just at a higher level.

Contrary to popular belief, not 100% of DotA/HoN players rage or blame their teammates when they lose. I myself rarely do it.. I honestly don't have a problem with losing games. Ideally we would be able to take our losses constructively and improve upon our mistakes.

ggc was created a long time ago to address the problem of delay and playing internationally.

it has had lots of improvement since the first versions but there is still lag when playing from USA to EUR.

as for cd, u never needed a cd after some patch. and before that they had cuteworm (i know this sounds like a bug) which made ur warcraft not require a cd anyways. i actually preferred cuteworm since u could load multiple instances of wc3 using it.

in high level competitive games this usually doesn't happen. i think it happens at least 10x more often in tda's/pubs/hlr's etc

it's reasonable for people with less experience to rage whenever they lose since they probably invested a frustrating 30 min or more into the game. people who have played thousands of games usually get over it unless the person to blame is really just that bad

I guess... but especially if you're with people you play with a lot or just happened to play badly, it's just stupid to be so counterproductive.

it isnt blaming for it's own sake.
if for example someone fails a role and that failure contributes heavily to our loss, and he realizes he was one of the major reasons we lost he will improve, simply because human beings are self correcting systems. if he notices exactly what is wrong with his play, his improvement will be faster.

say I lose a game.
i played support and there were a lot of ganks on our team, I didn't deny as well as i should have, i didnt position myself correctly most of the time with an emphasis on my laning phase positioning, also i didn't use my skills effectively. If i don't notice all of these mistakes, and chalk most of it up to other people's play, say my laning partner was also badly positioned.
if no one points anything out, it will take long for me to fix all those problems simply because as a new player i will be able to blame other players, or simply don't realize these problems are even elements of the game.

NOW let's say same game, and testie is there and he says FUCKING RETARD WTF BUY SOME FUCKING WARDS FIVE TIMES I WAS GANKED WITHOUT WARNING BECAUSE UR CUNT ASS CAN'T AFFORD 2 HUNDRED FUCKING GOLD!!! FUCK!!!
i now know i should really place wards next time.

i can respond: but there was another support hero.
if he says nothing i may feel justified, but if he says OMFG ARE YOU FUCKInG SERIOUS??!!
I DONT CARE IF THERE WERE FIVE SUPPORT HEROES. EVERYONE IS GETTING GANKED AND YOU HAVE NO WARDS FUCKING BUY THEM YOU INITIATIVE-LESS PIECE OF SHIT.

now i know i should have bought regardless of the presence of other support heroes.

pretty sure your rage threshold is lower than five ganks with no wards

lololol.

Rage comes when someone doesn't learn or when I think someone isn't thinking (well).

I don't recall myself raging before I adviced someone to do a particular thing. The most common example I can think of is in ganking standard 2v2 side lanes. Say you are arachna coming from mid.

Usually it's possible to get both kills. Arachna ults one and starts webbing the other (and webbing the ult'd target when needed for the stack) while your teamate beats on the ultied target. More often than not, teammates start just auto attacking the lower-hp one when clearly will die and let the other one escape on low hp.

Such examples continue throughout the game and you get frustrated and eventually rage.

On the subject of a pubstomp team, why not just make a scrim team? I find a good scrim much more satisfying than a pubstomp, regardless of loss. It's good to get the experience of a tense game and you'll learn from it. The enemies aren't idiots and from the start the pressure is on. The only problem is people I scrim with have a huge range in skill level so the game turns to be a rapefest for or against us. Maybe if poke got better If I find some people to scrim often it'll be fun.
Stuck.

Yeah, but I'm not quite sure why we can't be a bit more constructive and less rage-y. After the game, just go "hey, maybe you should work on X and X" and next game he'll be a bit better. Obviously there are larger problems that would need to be instantly corrected, but those should be eliminated by playing with the same people over and over. Especially for the lane positioning example, I think that's something that could be worked out a little more peacefully, especially if it's just a minor tactical change.

Your example is pretty minor. You lose a kill here and there, maybe you can just point it out after the game? I don't think it would be a game-changing mistake or something, especially not before the highest level. I only said pubstomp team because I don't really know anything about setting up scrims or getting that set up. Scrims would be the next step, but I think scrimming from the beginning could be a little ambitious, especially with some less experienced players. I'm not really looking for the best players, but the people I enjoy playing with the most.

You can't afford to tell them after the game because it will be lost.
You snap those mother fuckers back to reality while you're playing and get them to do their job.
If you're doing your job, they better fucking be doing theirs.

i would certainly like playing in a "fun" team... the problem is that getting four more people that are both mannered and willing to improve (=not braindead) is pretty much impossible. at least from the games i have played via the channel.
