Yeah, there's a lot of things in DotA that are just fucking stupid. It's incredibly depressing that he doesn't understand possibly the simplest concept with regards to game balance: anything without a counter is inherently imbalanced.
From now on I'm only picking heroes with permastun, permaslow, or those that can innately run faster than all other heroes. Then I'll just buy an SnY.
(Actually I do this in pubs. I actually just leave once I get bored of being so unfair to the other team. I wouldn't dare try it in a TL IH, though, as I'd get destroyed for not farming as well as some of you.)
Oh, by the way: why is it that I see SnY on sand king all of a sudden? Seriously; what the fuck.
|
What's funnier is broodmother with SnY and Tiny with... (drumroll) bashers!
|
Hereos rpf hates with every fiber of his being (speaking of which, I need to eat more bananas):
NA BH SA Brood NS SB BS Luna Geo
|
it's amusing when a vendetta'd na is walking toward you as viper
and you rape it before it gets close cos you have sentries pre-placed : D
|
I love nothing more than having sentries well-placed and completely fucking up some NA/BH/SA's day.
Oh, something I've been meaning to ask: when you choose items for your hero, obviously it's based on your hero, your team, and your opponents' heroes and their team as a whole, but do you prefer to buy items that "stack" with your abilities, or do you prefer to buy items that help deal with your heroes' weakness, or do you prefer items that synergize well??
I ask because I was reading a guide that was suggesting Midas, obviously a farming item, on heroes that already farm well, much in the way I see mael/mjoll on heroes like razor and potm who already have good farming abilities, as opposed to getting either item on a hero who farms like shit.
|
i like mael on potm cos starfall doesn't kill the ranged creeps in one hit :3
ONLY REASON OBVIOUSLY!111

Don't you hate morph, too? He has an AoE damage blink and can transfer agi in str resulting in 152 hp/sec heal. I love to pub bash with him.
|
in pub -em games whenever i randomed morph i would always stack 5 gauntlets asap and use my first skill point in the transfer stat ability, then transfer all str to agi for lulz (the +str from gauntlets doesn't transfer). i told a friend to try this build once, then he walked around the map at lvl 9 with 180hp (he missed the part where you're supposed to buy the +str items) wondering why every hero was 1-shotting him

k i just discovered i can not play war3 on my computer cuz it freezes up every couple of seconds and makes it unplayable, i dont know whats wrong with my computer but its certainly beyond shit

I don't really hate morph, simply because he has obvious weaknesses. If he wants to hit like a truck with auto-attacks, and hit really high adaptives, he has to sacrifice his HP, which leaves him open to nukes. Obviously the transfer of str to agi means he'll have a lot of armor, so even though he mitigates more physical damage, he's still quite open to magic damage.
Then tack on his atrocious base move speed, and you have a hero with some good strengths, but also some really big weaknesses.
Heroes like NA, BH, and SA all share the same weakness: wind walk is easily countered by 200 gold wards placed properly, necro3, and gem (on heroes that aren't susceptible to their bullshit chain nukes). Heroes like NS and SB you need to be able to chain disable, which means you can't be alone. While it's a team game, I despise heroes that are countered by teams and not by individual abilities. So unless I can farm a guin, a stun, and all sorts of other disables by the time SB earns his ult, I'm pretty much fucked.
It's not so much that they aren't counterable as it is that it's unrealistically difficult to effectively and efficiently counter them.
What if my hero doesn't have a stun? I can't buy an item with a stun to interact charge. Or what if NS is chasing me at night? I can't run. So I have to disable him or stun him somehow. Rarely can I actually go toe to toe with him, as if he's chasing me, he knows he's already won, otherwise he wouldn't be chasing me.
I just think the heroes I listed have too few counters for them to be conducive to a balanced game. I also really despise how IceFrog has turned DotA into a large scale rock-paper-scissors game.
I think the introduction of a few new items is desperately needed.
How about a generic int item, like HoT for str heroes and bfly for agi heroes? How about more items with actives, like an item with a stun, or a cheaper item with a disable? It sucks paying 5k gold or more to counter a hero who innately has an ability they take at L6.
What about more stat items? I can't be the only person that hates buying items that give me direct bonuses, such as +HP, +armor, or +dmg. I prefer to get my damage, armor, HP, MP and so forth from stats. How about L2/3/4 items that can use my bracers as a component?
How about items that are made from the least used items in the game? What if I could make a L1 item out of branches other than a mek?
Keep in mind my complaints are vastly outnumbered by the number of things I like about DotA. I just tend not to sit around and praise things; I'd rather criticize them so they can be improved.

Does it produce some sort of "tick" sound every few seconds, too? There were 2 PCs that did that in the local PC bang ^_^

If you can't run away from NS, then you won't be able to run away from morph, too and that aplies both during the day and night I prefer morph over NS to pub stomp, although morph is more mana dependant, but 3 bands + a bottle are more than enough to land a kill and escape. His recent +15 base damage buff allows him to farm much better and a low range is still better than being melee. Also, transfering stats + waveforming away means he'll rarely die.
|
imbalanced is really the last word I would use to describe nightstalker, he's a pretty poor hero
|
Well, I shouldn't have described him as such. Aside from him being really fast and having a slow on top of that, he really can't do much else. Half the time, he sucks. The other half of the time he's okay. That right there just sucks.

Why would you need more space? This leaves 1 slot for boots and 1 for TP. After that you get BoT, and you're left with 1 free slot, which is enough for the typical items.
For Butterfly you get the eaglehorn in the empty slot and then buy the 2 remaining pieces at once, since the quarter staff is weaker than a band(12 stats compared to an effective 10 agility, without the armor).
For Manta you buy the +10 agility blade and then the other 2 pieces at once. The booster + manta recipe can also be bought at once, since a booster is effecitvely +13 str, barely an improvement over +12 stats.
For Mjolnir you get the hammer first, then the other 2 pieces, and finish up with the eaglehorn.
Radiance also requires just one slot for the relic.
So you'll have to sell one band(or the bottle if you feel like it) when you're going for your second tier 4 item, and it would have repaid it's value long ago. I generally don't buy S&Y or Linkens for him, but they would require 1 band less. Also, if you prefer buying every single piece as soon as you have the money, in order to save some $ if you get killed right after buying - just get a chicken.
|
Ah, I just noticed this pattern in a bunch of replays I've watched recently where it was either bottle/2 bracers/bands/talismans or 3 bracers/bands/talismans.
Anyone else think there should be a bottle upgrade for late game? A 200/100 heal late game is pretty, well, insignificant. Sure, it'll let you use your spells again, but meh. I'd like to see buying another bottle autocombine to another level of the same item.
L1: 200/100 L2: 400/200 etc.
|
Having a high level hero run away at 5 hp and reapear 10-15 seconds later with full hp and mana, because of an upgraded bottle is not... nice Even the unupgraded bottle is pretty overpowered.
|
Bottle needs no buff, period.
|
i think the cd on bottle is such an artificial nerf -__-
there are better ways to hitting it with the nerf stick like reducing the hp/mp boost, raising the cost, etc.
