lol @ people talking of balance for a Dota game.

Reminds me of people who whine because their favourite fighting game with 50+ characters has tiers.

Yeah but in a fighting game the characters all come out at once.

Here the balance is changing and leaving beloved favourites behind. Not to mention the whole "early access" thing.


For me though it's not so much the balance as just the design. S2 is in like "never repeat anything EVER!" mode so they give every new hero 4 very complicated skills. Basically dictates how the hero must be played, instead of letting a hero's playstyle emerge naturally from the combination of their skills and interactions with others.

I mean there are already a shit ton of heros... they all will look the same if don't bring some new ridiculous abilities and stuff.

It's not as bad as that. Game is pretty balanced, though there's still some stuff that can be tweaked to be better, and of course the newer heroes still need some tweaking to be 100% balanced. I'm pretty sure that guy was just mad that another game could be as good as his beloved Dota 1.

Guys a noob dota question: If you turn on the pipe after venomancer or viper launched their ultimates will the -400 damage apply? I am not sure since its a damage over time. I am actually not sure will it work even if the pipe is turned on before the ultimates are launcher. So how it works?

If I recall correctly the damage reduction from activating pipe does negate veno ult damage even if it's already on you. Not 100% sure but pretty sure.

will negate the damage each tick. so if its doing 64 damage per second it will negate 64 damage per second, until the 400 damage is used up by whatever spells. the only catch is that pipe only lasts for a short time.

Matchmaking Rework
The "Average Wait Time" displayed when waiting for a match should now be much more accurate
Group leaders can now select whether they prefer to have a shorter queue time or a fairer match when queueing for matchmaking. This option can be changed without leaving the matchmaking queue
Introduced a "Provisional Ranking Period" for new players that will facilitate adjusting them to their true skill level (whether higher or lower) much faster than before
Players with team members who have been terminated should lose less points for a loss, and gain more points for a win
Made numerous changes to the way MMR is calculated such as how many points players gain or lose each match, how match predictions are calculated between two potential teams when searching for a matchup, and many other changes to the backend calculations that should make the MMR progression much more accurate in predicting and placing a player at their true MMR rating
Optimizations to the matchmaking algorithm that should reduce queue times across the board
The game lobby and hero select screens now show match gain/loss values with more precision as it is now possible to gain/lose fractional amounts of MMR
All players will have their Normal and Casual MMR compressed towards 1500. Take for example a player with Normal MMR of 1700, and Casual MMR of 1600. After the compression their Normal MMR would become become (1700 + 1500) / 2 = 1600) while their Casual MMR would become (1600 + 1500) / 2 = 1550
The minimum MMR has been increased from 750 to 1000

Can now join a friend's game in progress and watch from their point of view

No delay, your camera is locked to the view of the specific person you are watching

You must be approved by the person you are trying to watch before you can join and they can kick you out at any time

Mentoring

Join the game of another player and Mentor them to help them improve!

Your camera is locked to their camera, the same as Player Spectating

You still have to ask permission from the player to join their game and can be removed at any time

The Mentor has additional special functions available:

Holding Right Mouse Button will show your mouse to your Pupil (You can already see theirs)

CTRL+Enter will message your Pupil or Mentor

Holding X will let you have voice chat with only your Mentor or Pupil

You can also ping your Pupil's Minimap screen as a Mentor

Bindings can be changed

Currently, a player may only have 1 Player Spectator or Mentor and a limit of 4 on a server at any one time

Referral System has been updated

All of the people you have referred can now be seen in-game

they get around maphax by onyl allowing you to see your friends pov but i wish in spectate i could have some sort of free cam

I'm pretty sure we beat woot waffles man, you just don't remember. I definitely remember opening all of the gates at the top.. although I don't remember what happens after.


We have confirmed this already via your saves and screen shots. It's just not possible.

i'd agree that it is cheating, but im not going to deny the fact that ive tried it before to study - works wonders.

what about for gaming? you think its considered cheating?

also, you think a lot of top players are on something of the sort when gaming?

lol dude i dont do drugs except smoke an occasional blunt.

just from past experience on using adderall, it seems like it makes you focus better so i was just genuinely curious whether gamers use it. and it's a really interesting question as to whether or not it should be considered illegal.
