If you had to chose between two very similar games, one done by Valve, with probally a lot more money and infra-structure involved and another one done by a random company, Dota 2 would be ahead. By going with the F2P route, they remove themselfs from a straight competition with Valve, one that even if they didn't lose, would still result in a lot of lost sales. If you are in doubt, you go with what's free. That assuming Dota 2 goes with a pay now get everything for free model (except hats). | ||

But it sucks that you can´t buy normal accounts anymore and just get all the heroes for 10$. Kinda annoying that they are adapting the shitty LoL system but I guess that earns more money. But if you are new to Hon starting with 15 heroes and then just buying the ones you´re interested in with silver coins shouldn´t be a problem either. All in all I´m happy with the change if it succeds to grow the scene. | ||

Get what money while they can. i am a veteran dota player too :D i gave HoN a try and i am kinda hooked(so many imba sh!t in hon i must say)! i bought it when it is on sales (10$) and i think it is a good purchase since i am waiting for dota2 anyway. I did give LoL a try too, couldnt even finish the first game >_< i sincerely dont (wanna) believe that LoL will become something bigger than dota/2. that game blows. | ||

Fast-forward to today and the whole thing goes F2P. I go on and check my smurf account and it's a fucking Legacy account. tl;dr - if you signed up using the IGN Prime promotion, you basically got a free Legacy account. | ||
