![]() There were no survivors. 174 Dorfs, all dead. We didn't even injure a single demon. I don't know how you're supposed to mine adamantium. As soon as I even touched the *very top* of the shaft, the horrors below attacked. They burned everything. The once beautiful surface above our fortress is not nothing but ash. Everyone is dead, lol. Some goblins even showed up near the end, and were also horribly slaughtered by the numberless demons. | ||

Anyway, it's a fortress already! I settled between two huge rivers which converge on a peninsula. The terrain is all the defense I'll ever need. The plateau allows only one way in, and a huge wall will be erected along the entrance. All other approaches to the fort require flying! Bwahahaha! *AND* the lake at the bottom of both waterfalls is full of hippos! I'm going to SPPARRTAAA sooo many goblins off that cliff into the hippo lake, omg this is going to be awesome! ![]() What a sick embark site! Kekekeke | ||

I had a forgotten beast and a siege at the same time... 120 Z levels apart... They killed my cougar and my black bear ![]() My 1 handed female axedwarf now has 45 kills after entering a martial trance and slaughter 2 whole squads of crossbow wielding gobbos. | ||

- Do you guys recommend to use a tilset? or just the default ascii like real men? - Which utilities would you recommend? I downloaded the lazy newb thing but it seems a bit overkill with sooooo many things in it. The wiki seems to suggest that dwarf therapist is pretty much mandatory, and maybe StoneSense to take pretty pictures. Anything else? Using too much external tools kinda breaks the magic ![]() Anyways all this looks like lots of FUN :D | ||

I'd still use it all via the lazy newb pack though. | ||

How much do the additional sieges interfere with trading? Also how much clutter do the sieges generate. I'm looking to get a mod to have a few more enemy races, but I'm not really on board with having all my trade disrupted all the time. Likewise with the clutter, it's super annoying how long it takes to clear the battlefield after a goblin siege and if that's happening twice a month or something it's gonna be super annoying. Then again for the 2nd part maybe I'll just design a bridge based entryway where I can drop clothes (possibly still attached to the attackers) down a pit for easy collection. Are there any other mods that are clutter free that you'd recommend? I don't want to play something like Genesis because it just adds like 50 more things I don't want to deal with. I remember someone referring to some mod (or part of a mod) that helps to even out archers and melee units which could be interesting. EDIT: Also what about forgotten beasts? I still want to be able to enjoy them (even if most are cut down almost immediately). Prospector is worth using on embark your first few goes to make sure you have most of the minerals you need, it just makes things easier until you get the hang of it. I recommend the Ironhand tileset that comes with the LNP Also in general it's pretty useful. It's a pain in the ass when shallow metals + deep metals collectively mean nothing more than "A bunch of different types of silver and 1/2 of the materials needed to make bronze". | ||
