Time your FA(focusattack) when the first part of your special or ex move connects. hold the buttons and press forwardforward into the Dash then input the next special move you want to do (or ultra if you can)+ release buttons and Cancel the focus attack and get new move. FADC~~! Some moves dont have to be cancelled on the first one but I play Cammy and all hers have to so I don't know which they are. | ||

If you wanna do FADC's my way (it feels more like guilty gear this way) when your attack comes out tap mp+mk and forward at the same time, then tap forward again. It works a lot more consistently for me this way and it feels more natural, rather than dashing out of a cancel it feels like the inputs for a roman cancel. It shortens the inputs you have to worry about from 4 to 2 (save, tap tap, let go) to tap tap. Sorry if this was obvious to a lot of people but it works great for me. if people are still unclear on what FADC's are used for, the most obvious one is juggling into an ultra for Ryu and Sagat. You dragonpunch and as it hits, you FADC. As a result, you're free to move on the ground while your opponent's flying in the air. You use your ultra and your opponent will fall into it while in juggle state. Other uses are for getting out safely when you botch a shoryuken, chasing fireballs for a mix-up, setting up throws (Giefs out there should try Ban-flat FADC 360), extending combos with or without ultra. If anyone needs help learning the basics of their character I have a ton of free time at school now. edit: I figured out where I got SADC from, Focus Attacks are called Saving attacks in the Japanese version. I use Vega instead of Bison etc. cause I'm an idiot. | ||

On February 25 2009 04:30 zizou21 wrote: what is a dragonpunch =\ ? it's the english translation of shoryuken, also often referred as "uppercut" originally it was a move of ryu and ken in the street fighter games, but every move with similar characteristics is called shoryu or shoryuken. typical features of a shoryuken move: -invincible startup, it means that you can't get hit out of this move in the beginning, so it can be used as you are waking up etc. -high priority, so it beats out (almost) everything if you and your opponent attack at the same time (this is caused by the invincible startup mostly) -and it is highly punishable! a typical shoryuken move does a huge movement into the air into up-forward direction, in the case of a whiffed shoryu the opponent has a lot of time to punish it with the most damaging attacks of him/her In low level games, shoryuken is spammed a lot, because the opponents are bad at anticipating and punishing it. That's why that flow chart posted a bit earlier here is funny. | ||

Once you have bar you can do more stuff. Depends on how fancy you want to get or how confident you are, you can sometimes do like lvl2 focus, dash, whatever big combo. Ryu gets like lvl2 focus, dash, t+fierce, c.jab, c.fierce XX EX hurricane kick (or just lvl2 focus, dash, t+fierce XX DP for ez damage). | ||
