Infernal faction showcase that was teased in the last newsletter is happening tomorrow:

Glad we're getting an update. I thought the Infernals were lookin snazzy in some of the screens and concept art and I'm very interested to see how they look in game, like isometric view and everything—how they're contrasting with Human.
It could be a little greedy but I'd also like an update on the Human faction, if poss. Like maybe some units we haven't seen, units that have changed, etc. : )))

Oh yeah, it'd also be cool if there were a way to refer to the demon faction in the singular. Like it's Terran/Zerg/Protoss...Human/Night Elf/Orc/Undead....
Currently the demons are "the Infernal Host" which is a bit of a mouthful. Would be nice if it were 1 word and singular. And obviously Demon doesn't work xD. Maybe something for the FGS team to think about eventually cuz otherwise it's hard to talk about the race tbh, and sits kind of incongruently with other factions that can be referred to in the singular.
It's a minor point but an important one imo. I put this right up there with the map editor and 1v1 ESPORTS in terms of things to nail KekW

That will develop naturally in time, I'm sure of it. Could imagine "Infernals" for example. We will see what people will do.

Imo they should put some thought into it to make sure nothing awkward emerges. I already don’t like certain first letters like ‘I’ because of abbreviations. TvZ PvZ TvP are such nice matchup abbreviations. Using an ‘I’ is not so great. Thinking in terms of an esports broadcast chyron or overlay, liquipedia, articles, and just chatting. Give us good terms and abbreviations, designed with purpose.

yeah exactly. Can't be havin IvI that's awful. Also Infernals is plural and wouldn't work the same as every other race in a sentence. I wouldn't even be too mad if it just came down to "Host". But then it could be the same first letter as Human and people could get confused. They also seem to be struggling with Human, and I think it should just be Human. If they're leaving design space open for another human-based faction by calling it Vanguard or so, I'd say that's a mistake. There should be only 1 human faction.
For the Infernal Host I'd honestly just pick a unique name that is fitting for a sci-fi/fantasy setting in the way that Khajit or Iksar were for RPG. Either that or a fun nickname the humans call them because they don't know what they're actually called, cuz the humans never sat down and had a formal introduction with the race that was attempting to mass murder them. I'd say the reason either of these haven't happened yet is the same reason Frost Giant is opting for a marvel-esque tone for the campaign. Just trying to cast a safe, wide net. I feel like this is also a mistake. Put your foot down, Frost Giant. Make your game with unwavering confidence.
Imagine someone in a Starcraft 1 design meeting saying “what about hydralisk?” and his team members going “OH PLEASE, THAT'S STUPID, NO ONE'S GONNA GET IT. LET'S JUST CALL IT A BONE-RAPTOR.” Then everyone roars with applause.
Don't leave the 40 year-old metalheads/OG Star Wars fans in the dust with Stormgate: Far From Home. Make the people happy whose favorite movie is Place Beyond the Pines. Who walked out of The Witch feeling like a million bucks. Only half kidding.
When I was a kid I didn't want to be young Jake Lloyd Darth Vader, just cuz he was close to my age, I wanted to be fuckin Darth himself. When I was 9 I wanted to be Robert Patrick, the T-1000. Not John Connor. Trust me, younger people like more mature content. I bet every single zoomer loved Dune. And there's no sex or blood in it, it just took on a more mature tone and was respectful to its audience. You don't need to have a chest-burster scene in the opening cinematic followed by an 8 year-old child crying for 10 minutes to achieve this.
The zoomer's love for Dune will age like wine while their love for Thor II: Electric Bugaloo will age like 2% milk.
(I wrote this before coffee or tea so plz don't judge me too hard)

The game’s vibe is like it’s made for people who collect funko pops
Not a dealbreaker for me but I’m not into it
For competitive multiplayer, we could adjust the mood to our liking with skins. But then if we are forced to see our opponents cutesy skin collections, that doesn’t help

Honestly... I just don't like the marketing. Showing 2-3 minute snippets every few months just... seems weird to me. Especially the trailer at the Gamescom opening ceremony even looked weird. At this point, I just hope we're gonna see a full game anytime soon.

It's a truly Blizzard-esque rate of development.
Definitely doesn't help that ZeroSpace just dropped a very action-packed trailer within the last week. Obviously the comparison is unfair, but fairness ain't got nothing to do with Stormgate's progress feeling extremely frustrating.

Expectations vs reality is always going to be a bitch. I think too many people, including myself, want this game to be more than it can be. It's just a game. Games and the markets for them are so much different from what they used to be. I can't be too hard on Frost Giant for making certain decisions.
I will say that if any ultimate frugality in polish makes the game run smoothly on worse machines, that's a plus. I think the gore is cool. I'm definitely getting an orc vibe from the Infernals, which is neat.
Keeping an open mind and going to be patient, but still have no idea how it's all going to shake out. Like Swisslink said, it's kinda hard to judge things based on very small snippets of info. We could literally be years away from release.
Next to all the other crap that was splashed on that stream, I'm totes with Stormgate. Partially cuz this community is so good and tight but also because I'm genuinely optimistic.

no you'd love it Ok that’s fair
Heard some criticisms of how the select workers/building works, seen some instances of the complaints and I must say I’d agree with them

they're already leaning hard into the old "guys we don't have much money ... so please feel sorry for us" and it looks like they are getting a few sympathy votes. LOL. 'member those 6 foot tall Jim Raynor cardboard cutouts at GameStop//EB Games when SC2 came out in JUly 2010? damn.... that was cool. i'm glad i had a chance to see , feel , and touch those moments in RTS history .... because they ain't never happenin' again.

all the cool kids wanted to be Scott Stevens because he put people in the hospital ... and ended careers no one wanted to be Wayne Gretzky. He was known as "Wayne The Whiner".

The more I find out about this, the more it feels like they're stuck in the early 2000's. It feels so generic and bland. Color schemes don't get me going either. It's partly why I do not enjoy watching DOTA(2) or SCII. They're going to need great mechanics to make this a winner.
