sk beats nip, loses to astrails, goes down to the lower bracket and gets knocked out again by grayhound

The format looks pretty good, all matches are BO3 except the initial match and there is double elimination groupstage and seeding for playoffs <3

Sharks are such a good team, They need more LAN experience minus nak.

wish FURIA qualified instead them tho, really wanted to see yuurih and ksc playing against big boys.

Is there any english restreams on twitch/YouTube or somewhere in general that works? I want to watch on mobile but cannot get the stream working. I so hope the backlash makes esl step away from facebook as soon as the deal allows..

On the positive we get to see (i mean if the stream opens i might also get to see >·<) liquid play with taco and practised setups and strategies
I play children's card games and watch a lot of dota, CS and HS

It looks like OpTic are going to get 16-0'd by Astralis D:

group stages have been a little weird the last few tournaments. look at iem sydney: tyloo and renegades going 1 and 2 in their group, sk getting eliminated by grayhounds. now we have heroic and sharks taking maps off teams they really shouldn't. it seems to sort itself out by the playoff bracket. let's see how things play out today!

Well, TyLoo and Renegades did overperform in Sydney, and it wasn't just in Bo1, so I'd attribute this more to the teams themselves.

Other than that, I think we're potentially seeing the effects of the lack of practice for the teams that have a LAN every other week or so. But yeah, I don't think there's been a better time to be an underdog, in recent years.

Heroic is actually playing extremely good as a team wtf. hard to call them a mix team.

Both Heroic and OpTic are delivering more than what could be expected from them (OpTic being least surprising).

At this point I'd like to see North being dismantled and the best players sent to these teams to improve them. I.e. Kjaerbye / valde to either Optic / Heroic.

I dont know about that, its a bit to much of a flash in the pan for me to say they are up there yet.

Even if it isnt, Optics roster is solid enough roster with the additions, maybe you could add a Valde for a gade.

Heroic has always had upset potential and one could argue the reason they are doing as well as they are is precisely because of the personel they have and adding a Valde/Kjaerbye may upset the balance

Dunno if we can say much about Heroic compared to their history, as there aren't many players left from their stable rosters. JUGi, valde and Snappi aren't there anymore.

Also true that all this might just be a flash in the pan, though I'd believe it's not and it won't just be a fluke.

Yes this Heroic is basically just a mix team. But that was my point, the mix team is working probably because theyve lucked into a nice balanced lineup that might get upset if you added something to it

And on the flipside, Karrigan is outskilling SK players.

And Rain pretty much solo wrecking SK every other round.

The teams are pretty evenly matched otherwise. But every play he has made has been electric.

And frankly even if you took Rain out of the equation, SK is just getting out dueled more often than the should be at critical points.

Fer and Cold shouldnt be losing advantageous duels to Xist and Karrigan as often as they are.

nothing super tactical going on here.

Ez 2-0 for Faze

I dont even know if its that great.. its a very flawed CT side. There's been some lack of attention to detail and sloppiness. From both teams really.

SK have been offering up space on A easy and a drilled team should be able to overwhelm overpass after bathrooms control with no losses and minimal utility usage. They've been unaware or disregarded alot of T boost attempts even when there isn't really anything else or even presense to worry about on B.

Try that against Astralis and they will tear you an asshole over and over again (which they did)

Not a great game. And yeah, a sloppy round to end it aswell. I wouldnt even say it has anything to do with the side.

Unless you can point to something specific that they are doing better on CT side compared to T side.

I think its more a fail on Faze's part that the game went this long. SK didnt look good even on some of the rounds they won. Which I suppose is Kudo's to some of the individual plays. Not convincing though.

fallen, cold and fer trio are just not they used to be. fer is still having his moments but the other two are just the shadow of former selves. you’d expect fallen to perform better after giving up being igl.

Yeah Astralis got cocky at Sydney, if anything that might actually have been the best thing that couldve happened to them because now they are basically as sharp as you can get. Getting Magisk has been a revelation for them. Thanks Kjab

Glaive has hit a rather high spell of form again which was their key to dominance end of 16 early 17. A cerebral ingame leader that is that good at his main role and that can frag hasnt been a thing since Fallen lost form.

Edit: I mean they only won a map so far but vs this Astralis it feels like they won the fricking tournament.

oh well. GG Astralis. The best team right now.

Good showing by Liquid, they had the chances to win a second map on both nuke and inferno. A shame that it did not work out.

They have a good shot at Starseries 5 next week. With only 5 Top10-Teams attending (Navi, NIP, SK, Mouse and Liquid), they are one of the favourites to win it.

I can't rule out SK. Normally I wouldgive a new team 30-40 days and after that I don't expect much improvement. However, the sum of the parts based on long-term data of the five players is very high plus they have showed they can play well as a team (previously) and win tournaments.

At last, the language switch may take 3-5 months to fully be implemented and it's also clear that the team roles don't function naturally on the team- but the "if everything clicks" potential is there.

If we think about coldzera he went from "best in the world" just some months ago and now he looks like the 80th best player in the world (before IGL changes)... How? While I don't think he will just return to be a top 3-5 player over the next 2 months, it does seem reasoanble to expect that his performance could return closer to his mean performance in the future (at least on the maps he isn't IGL).

And on maps he isn't IGL, fallen should/could perform as a top 5-7 AWPer in the world.

On top of that, I also don't think they have been playing that bad. Still a top 7 team in my book.

With regards to mouz, unless Oskar returns to form and/or they replace styko, I don't see them as a top 3 team. I felt for the past 40-50 days that they were signficantly overrated by the community (esp when some people thought they were favourites going into Marseille).

Thus I am much more inclined to put the top 4 as astralis, faze, navi and tl. Don't even think Faze is a clear #2 - felt they were a bit overrated as well going into ESL Pro league dallas. Surprised me a lot when bookies opened with similar odds on Faze to win as Astralis - cus I consider the difference between Astralis and everyone else to similar to the difference between #2 and #10 in the world.

SK has some potential to break into the top 4 over the next 2'ish months.

Judging by odds on Starseries, SK is also rated as a stronger team than Mousesports and is the secnd favourite to win (after Navi).

My outside candidate is NiP who I thought had a lot of potential going into ESL Pro League Dallas but definitely dissapointed me somewhat. With that said, they didn't look "that much worse than SK" throughout the tournament. Lost in OT and then to optic in a bo3 (a team SK was also close to lose to).

Until I see more lan performances from them, I can't rule out the possiblility of them just having "one bad tournament" given that they have come off a pretty succesful online season and on a paper has a strong roster. Plus, NiP has always been a hit-and-miss team. Either they suck or they win. For that reason, I am inclined to rate NiP with a higher chance to win than Mousesports.
