Well north are getting their pants pulled down by SK here! 12-3 half time lead on cobble.
Ok so Cobble was picked by North and they got beat 16-5, then for some reason SK picked Train who in turn lost 16-8. Luckily SK got Inferno as map 3!
Ok SK look lost CT on Inferno? Need a huge T side to win this now. 10-2 down

North is looking very good in this iteration, let's see if they can keep going. Last time wasn't very conclusive.

Na'Vi Astralis now and I can't watch.

We should have actual LR in here!

We do! I'll probably be able to see more of the second map than the first. Really curious to see how Na'vi perform now that they have Zeus.

Not sure anyone rightly knows, maybe he just wanted a new challenge, but the new Faze squad is just strange, personally with kicking Kio i hope they struggle for a long time

Yeah haha left Fnatic xD

Onto todays action, slow start from SK on train but much better than yesterday's performance! C9 9-6 the half playing CT on train!
SK take map 1 16-13! Which was c9 pick, map 2 is cobble!
C9 went 3-0 up on Cobble as CT now just fell apart. 9-3 SK at the moment
C9 comeback! 8-11
SK take control and 16-9
SK WIN 2-0!

Yeah I would so wish all those Zeus fanboys would stop with this meme... Gambit won their major due to incredible play from Adren, Hobbit and Mou, the Zeus mastermind-meme is made by casters and solely for entertainment. Not saying he didn't contribute or he is a bad IGL, but it wasn't Zeus who gifted them their major title. Stop taking away from their achievement, focus your imagination on twisting why your beloved mastermindgod played so awfully this tourney and why his team is out despite his superior leadership. Don't try to put the person you adore above others by trying to drag them down...

I remember how everyone was thinking Zeus did some miracle speech while standing in T-spawn against Astralis in semifinals. Well actually he didn't say/do much there, he was mostly frustrated, and said regular things like focus, we can win and shit. Nevertheless Zeus was the MVP in that match, not because IGLing, but killing dupreeh twice in that popdog. However overall Gambit's success was mostly due to Adren/Hobbit/Mou trio clicking and Dosia/Zeus bringing their best when it mattered. Zeus did play a role in that run, but not significant as people think.

I think Zeus gave Gambit a lot of structure and tactics, that can't be denied.

But that wouldn't had work without AdreN, H0bbit and Mou (in that Overpass game) going full robot.

If you don't hit your shots tactics can only get you so long

By the time the next major, which is in like 4 months, Gambit will end up like old NaVi. All skilled players but no tactical depth. They are fine as it stands since they have a solid structure but once the problems kick in along with the new update/meta/maps , we will see what Gambit made of. Still think they wont keep that legends spot at next major

Again, I didn’t mean said that Zeus didn't contribute to anything just that this meme was blown way out of proportion. Gambit was improving before he got there, those CIS teams with some exceptions are just seen in too few non-CIS tourneys so it is hard to keep track of them. That they might be less successful later on is also a pretty bad argument, look at the scene right now. We experience upsets and huge shifts at almost every big event right now, saying they won't keep their legend spot (what that is supposed to mean I am unsure anyways... winning the next major / being finalist?) is probably like saying I think it’s going to rain within the next week: Not a very bold nor meaningful prediction, the competition is just too tough at the moment.
It is also hard to give Zeus that amount of credit (again, it is not hard to give him credit, but keep it realistic) when NaVi with him wasn't really successful, no matter the players. Listen, I like Zeus too. Just because he is from 1.6 NaVi I will probably overrate him a bit but then I look at the results and well... even with my nostalgia for him and NaVi I can't really defend it. And you can't deny that the Zeus mastermind and "his" major storyline got heavily pushed because that’s how you can make sports more exciting. And it is fine to some extend but when Zeus winning a major is such a focus that it diminishes the work of the rest of the team, that’s just feels wrong to me. I don't really care about Gambit, in case you mistake me for a fanboy, I didn't really had them on my radar and only started to look in to them because how they played at the major. Instead of getting with the hype I rather checked them out myself and watched some games from before the major and Zeus because they really impressed me on an individual level.
I will admit that I can't really tell how much Gambit developed in terms of strategy and team cohesion since I only looked at their history close before their major and didn’t went full analyst so I won't deny improvements through Zeus that might still be relevant, but it is also impossible to deny that they were already improving greatly before he joined.

What part of saying Gambit wont be as successful as a now in the future because they dont have a quality igl is being a dick? not even going to answer the rest because you wrote loads of bollocks like NaVi was not succesful under Zeus lol.

you need to go out more often.

Sorry, I didn't clarify. They weren’t noticeable successful in GO under Zeus, not counting 1.6 which is a different game. Not being successful is also maybe a bit harsh since major titles aren’t everything but in comparison to other teams that are generally considered successful, they mostly fall short or feed of wins from the earlier days of GO when the scene was less competitive then now. They are also a CIS team that we see regularly in EU / NA competition, so the excuse of their results just being lesser known other teams of that region can use doesn’t really apply to them.

The not being a dick part was more generally addressed since we had a few HLTV-level postings/signatures in the last major thread, though answering a proper post with just a yawn emote doesn’t seem all that nice, just like calling IGLs a waste. Plus throwing out baseless accusations like lack of tactical depth. Now I can add telling people they need to go more out because you disagree with them and answers like "not going to answer" while in the same sentence saying what was said was wrong. "Lol your wrong, I am not telling you where though, that would require me to engage in an actual discussion". And since we are already offtopic, going out more often seems to be the last thing I would have to do, if my perception of NaVi is so wrong, I should rather stay inside and watch them, right?

Calling one of the best IGLs of all time "the Zeus mastermind-meme is made by casters and solely for entertainment." doesnt seem all nice either

its just no use talking with you, see you at next major when Gambit wont make top 8

And I apologize for not being clear enough again, even though I feel that my post made pretty clear that I was adressing that people where acting like their major title was only/mainly because of Zeus, which was definitely because that was the best story to sell. In GO I would probably even argue about best IGL of all times.

I also conceded that they might fail to deliver similar results in the near future because of the state of the competition and it is also hardly a great argument. As a fan of Virtus.pro, I know too much about upset in both directions for that . Again, I don’t really care about Gambit, I just don’t like when stupid hype takes away well deserved credit. And parroting casters is generally a bad idea, I feel like GO is much worse than SC2 in that regard.

You once again didn't really address anything I said with proper arguments, so unfortunately I guess we are done here.

EDIT: What a crazy game : D

Yay G2.

I think it's not really a coincidence that teams like G2 and NiP perform so well at a tournament with more talk time for the coach. Hmm.

Smithzzz is a good coach? I thought it was just a role for him to still be part of the boys?

I don't know what you encompass in "good coach", but he can definitely help the team. He's seen it all in CS, and he actually helped Ex6TenZ lead during the VG days. Plus he knows pretty much all these players by heart now, having played with all of these (except bodyy, altough they still played a year or so together).

And he's been given praises by the players themselves, not just as a standard, empty "yeah our coach helps us" that you see quite often, but with specifics. None other than yesterday, kennyS was mentioning how he won them cobble by taking a pause a calling exactly what's needed to be called for G2 to completely flip the match.

Aside from that, he's also the guy that many players in the scene wanted in their team, no matter his actual form, because he's a positive and motivating force.
