Actually, I found this really nice combo you can use ^^ If you use Whirlwind while you have equipped a Bow/Crossbow, then you can attack the enemy regardless of the distance. It's ridiculously fast, especially for non-tournament. O_o
My recommendation is to get 10 Magicka asap to use this combo. It's like hax ~_~
For the best sword, the damage is a little over 1000 (same damage) and for the best bow, it's 795.

I discovered the bow/whirlwind trick too, at level 35 or so when the computer hit me with it. I kept a gale and teleport in for tourneys though to be extra safe since whirlwind can miss. I wouldn't want to play again with any other build, the emperor has a 200-800 damage sword
My extra cha points were from random events.
You win this game by surviving, and agi builds are by far the best at avoiding lethal critical shots. A lot of things have to go wrong for the computer to kill you:
1) they have to have a super melee weapon 2) they have to behave aggressively enough to get close (often they switch to ranged and/or jump around pointlessly) 3) they have to be persistent and fast enough to stay close against gale/ww/teleport 4) they have to beat your defence 5) they have to crit 6) they have to roll damage well enough on the crit to take all your hp
I'm not replaying, I don't think any other build has a good chance of success without saving, but I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

I just went 66-0, the some random guy 2nd round in the tournament used the quick sandals, and charged me and critted / beheaded me.
WTF.

so i guess one more tourney huh?
|
^I was planning on going that route since the agi build was done already. I failed pretty badly, but glad to see it can be done...unless you lost in the last tourney.
|
So did you win it with a str build or what ?
|
The problem with a strenght build is that you still need to commit a few points on agility pretty early on. Which is crucial if you could've rather spent those points on either strenght, atk/def or vitality. I think you have to get lucky with a strenght build, unfortunately that was not the case when I tried it.
Agi remains the most viable strat.

I didnt get the agi build at all i tried it couple of times and died to the first guy of the first tourney .

Agil build rely on good weapon to win. My personal BO: 3 agil 1 def 3 atk 1 def 3 agil 1 sta 3 atk 1 def 3 agil 1 sta repeat_ Add magicka for WW or w/e but I never got that far, got abit unlucky and got psyched cuz I fell asleep.

I was playing yesterday, and i had 66 cha and 1 everything else, and I accidently clicked charge once and I hit the guy for the same amount of damage I would do when I taunted, so I did it again, and every time I would attack it would hit him for the damage. Unfortionetly I fell victim to a super massive crazy over nine thousand damage crit and got owned. =/

i regret to inform yall that my gladiator met with extreme bad luck on the last tournament where he faced two armor disablement magic spells and died. fucker cast two anti armor magic in the beginning one after another, and my gladiator was left with 100~ armor. nothing you can really do about that. but i think i've proved the strength build is indeed possible and is truly the race of men. the end.

I tried both charisma and agi build. I would have to say that the agi build is alot better:
Charisma build just took so fucking long cause most of the time you taunt, the opponent just falls down or runs around.
Agi build with whirl wind attack (at 10 magic) is very strong. The build I used is 8agi,1 att,1 def then 1agi, 2 attk, 1def. Basically upgrade to slingshot the first 2500, so you can just win the duels. then get the second sword and work your way up from there. Be smart about getting agi and make sure you will have enough for the best weapon before each tourney after the 1st rounds. Then when you can spare it, get 10 magic and get whirlwind. Whirlwind + armed with crossbow = mad damage.
After awhile, it was very repetitive with agi as well, but the game went along MUCH faster than charisma with taunt.

I got to lvl ~35 without more than ONE agil or chr point.
Then I didn't put enough defence in and go owned.

Unlucky ItchReliever. I always read your name like ItchReaver lol.

the char build is just so fucking random..... I remember myself playing with the same guy for 5min just making him come charging at me then go back again.

the game gets pretty dumb when you play for like 4 hours, then die due to the corner bug over and over. i guess agi builds are more suseptible as 1 jump = you're in the corner. this time i was up to the tournament 13 boss. of course when you try to use spells it does nothing except waste the spell (but not actually perform it), and it takes about 5-10 nothing moves for you to gain the ability to at least attack. this stupid bug has got me the last 3 times i've lasted the distance. i am confident i could win this game if it were not for the bug, as i'm really kicking the shit out of the comp when i'm not compromised by the bug =/ tbh i'm sick of it.

The corner bug is definitely annoying - but happens much more if you are on the far left of the screen rather than the far right. If you have a choice you should always jump forward. If the opponent walks past or near you - you can whirlwind or power attack and pin them in the corner. Then as long as you do not make power attacks, they will be stuck.
It would work great as an overall strat if it wasn't for the rare occasion when you get pinned instead of them.

honestly, I don't think it's a bug when you get "stuck". I think you're basically reaching the limits of the map. ie, you're trying to walk backwards, but there's nowhere to go. As though you';ve hit the wall. I think that's pretty realistic
