Big enough to throw in gyms or take down gyms just fine. Thanks! Yeah I wanted a double dragon dragonite as an attacking generalist. I don't think it would make my top 6 for any of my raids but I need to check pokebattler. I don't know if I will ever power-up another Dragonite as I would rather spend the stardust on my other pokemon and the candy powering up my 2 DT/H Dragonites. I try to put throw away pokemon in gyms but sometimes I will put my dragonite in there. I would appreciate any other advice too ![]()

Anyways there is a new game being developed called Fishbank with fishing and battling in addition to public "fish sales". I'm going to reserve my judgement on the game until alpha comes out but in case it does turn into something big I recommend signing up for an account at http://my.fishbank.io/go/11937 The free fish you get for signing up could become quite valuable if the game catches on. I don't recommend anyone put any large amounts of their money in to a game like this, just thought the pokemon go community could understand the potential of a game like this. I started to play this game this week and I've been having fun overall. Best part is, it gives me something to do outside while I aimlessly wander around town. It made me even get my bike to a repair shop after 15 years of not using it :p In about 5 days playtime I got to level 15 just doing pokestop quests, daily quests from the professor and capturing pokes. On my first night I captured a ninetails which got me pretty excited, and just today I caught a shiny kabuto! It's power level is shit (157CP) but its shiny! If I evolve my shiny kabuto, will the kabutops be shiny as well? I'm a bit afraid to do it :o I also ran into 2 problems: I ran out of pokeballs, so today I had to use greatballs. Kinda sucks to catch kabutos and pidgeys with them... I'm planning to do the bicycle laps around the nearest park to farm balls this week like evanthebouncy!'s blog suggested. I was practicing my curved ball throws and missed a lot... My inventory swelled up very quickly, and I couldn't pick up more items from pokestops. I had to destroy normal heal potions, around 50 of them. They only healed for 20, and I had more of better potions anyway. Anything else I should be deleting to get more inventory space? Or is there a way to get coins without paying real money to buy bag upgrades? Lastly, what do I do with my pokemon. I went to a few gyms but I'd get my ass kicked if I went in for a battle. People in my town are around level 20-36, and leave shit like 1776CP Charizards and 1878CP Vaporeons and over 2000CP Gardevoirs to guard gyms. They'd destroy my ~1000CP guys. I did Beat 1 gym where a guy only left a 987CP Vaporeon with my 990CP Umbreon, but I didn't leave any of my pokes behind. Felt it would've been useless, since they are so low CP. Should I even consider going into a raid? I checked 1 out and it had a 6789CP Nosepass... I have no idea if I could win, and there wasn't anyone else in the raid so I just left to look around for more pidgeys, eevees and other crap. Anyway, any newcomer tips would be very appreciated, I tried to look some up online but the sites were super clickbait'y and didn't really explain shit. edit: another thing - when should I evolve my pokes? There's an obvious difference in power when you evolve a 10CP eevee and a 500CP eevee. I probably catch eevees now in the ranger of 350-400CP thanks to my character level, but will these wild eevees rise in CP infinitely? or do they cap at around 500-600 for example? What do I do with my starter Charmander. It's at a measely 10CP compared to my 1100CP Lairon. Obviously, as a starter its rare and I can't farm candy for it. Should I buddy up with it and put time and effort into it to get a Charizard or forget it ever existed and stick to my eevees and arons and kabutos?

The daily cap is 50 coins Lastly, what do I do with my pokemon. I went to a few gyms but I'd get my ass kicked if I went in for a battle. Level 3 can also be done solo if you have the right pokemon for the job (I took down a Lv3 once, don't remember which one it was though) Also, one important things to remember is that CP is far from everything that matter. I have a couple of Tangelas that are fairly decent fighters even though they have less than 2000 CP. edit: another thing - when should I evolve my pokes? Why do people say character level 20 is a breakpoint? Are the pokemon I catch now (level 17,5) somehow worse than the pokemon I'll be able to catch post level 20? Obviously CP differences probably, but being called "non-viable" ? Why are raid pokemon considered better than what I catch myself and evolve? I evolve pokemon that my appraisal master calls "best stats I've ever seen!" etc. but what exactly does that mean? Is it related to IVs or what? Lets say I have 2 eevees. One CP10 and the other CP450. When I evolve both of them into Jolteons, will their "max CP possible" be the same? Is the difference only that the Jolteon from the CP10 Eevee will require a metric fuckton more candy to max? Is there a site somewhere where I can see how high my Jolteon and Umbreon can go, CP-wise? I just did a bunch of evolves with a lucky egg for XP and it boosted me 1.5 levels, I did them mainly for pokedex entries. Also I caught a ditto. The little blob was masquerading as a Kabuto and I'm in the process of extrminating all kabutos in my city and making them into paste to feed the shiny Kaubtops. Apparently a ditto is very rare? It's only CP135, what do I do with it?

Why are raid pokemon considered better than what I catch myself and evolve? Not quite sure what level 20 represents, but reaching level 30 allows wild pokemon to be caught up to level 30 (or level 35 if they're in the correct weather). You'll also see the "same" pokemon as everyone else (the species will always be the same but the IVs and level of the wild pokemon will be the same) that's level 30 or above. Raid Pokemon are "better" because they're naturally either level 20 (or if they're in the right weather, level 25). Also, their IVs are set to a minimum of 10/10/10. I evolve pokemon that my appraisal master calls "best stats I've ever seen!" etc. but what exactly does that mean? Is it related to IVs or what? Yes, there are two appraisal "types" so to speak. I think you're Instinct (correct choice ![]() This site lets you calculate the IVs based on the mon's CP, HP, Stardust required to level the mon up, and the appraisal: https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/pokemongo-iv-calculator#/ Lets say I have 2 eevees. One CP10 and the other CP450. When I evolve both of them into Jolteons, will their "max CP possible" be the same? Is the difference only that the Jolteon from the CP10 Eevee will require a metric fuckton more candy to max? The max CP of each will depend on the IVs. I don't think a CP10 Eevee can be too great, while a CP450 probably has a pretty wide range. But the candy and stardust costs are definitely much larger for the CP10 Eevee. Is there a site somewhere where I can see how high my Jolteon and Umbreon can go, CP-wise? The site I linked above has a search where you can search for the pokemon you want to see and then includes a huge table showcasing each level and the min and max CP. There's also a CP calculator that can show you how high they can get once you get their IVs from the IV calculator. The bunch of evolves is one of the better uses of lucky eggs, and right now during adventure week if you can find a large amount (40+ or so) pokestops you've never spun before, then spinning those with a lucky egg will also be a huge benefit. Dittos are pretty useless, they're generally harder to catch than the pokemon they're hiding as, as well.

Wild pokemon get stronger along with you up until you hit level 30. After 30 they cap out. The highest level pokemon you can catch is your current level, plus another 5 in favourable weather. Because of this, you should never ever spend dust, because levels are cheap until you hit 30. You’ll nearly always find something better in the wild by the time you get there, and post-30/35 you need all the dust you can get to keep your team levelled. Candy is a bit more complicated. What you really want to know is: if I spend my candies to evolve this thing now, how likely am I to catch a better one afterwards and wish I’d waited? This depends on: How quickly are you levelling? How good is the mon you have? How hard is it to find candy for? If you’re levelling up very quickly, wild pokemon levels will be increasing with you, so what looks good now will become obsolete quickly. This is why 20 is sometimes seen as a rough breakpoint. It’s not because pokemon get radically stronger at 20, but because 20-30 is where the XP grind starts to ramp up, so wild pokemon tend to stop racing ahead of the stuff you already have. As a general rule of thumb, go ahead and evolve if you have a good mon and you think you can get more candy by the time you find a better one. “Good” here probably means 60%+ IVs and weather-maxed level, or at least not lower than your account level (ie. near-full arc on its stats page). This obviously depends on candy availability. If you’ve got candy for that mon coming out your ears, go wild. Conversely, if getting enough candy has been a struggle, think twice, especially if you’ve lucked into a bunch of otherwise-difficult candy from a convenient nest or an event. Last, at your level, forget about evolving based on IV alone. It’s never going to be worth evolving a 99% IV mon if it’s 10CP, since you’d have to spend ludicrous amounts of dust to get it up and keep it relevant, all for an end-game benefit of like 50CP over a garden-variety 30+ 80%er. Finally, have a good look through the gamepress pages that are linked above. There’s a lot of good resources there. Also look up PokeGenie in your app store, it scans the stat pages in-game to tell you what levels and IVs your pokemon are, which is ridiculously useful.

It's only CP135, what do I do with it? 20 is the Hatching breakpoint. Pokemon you get from eggs top out at level 20. 30 is the wild* breakpoint. Pokemon you catch in the wild will top out at your level or level 30 - whichever is lower. (This doesn't apply to weather boosted Pokemon, they can be higher) Pokemon have 2 factors that determine their CP; the level of the Pokemon, and its hidden stats, called IVs. Your two Eevees, one at 10CP and one at 450CP are obviously much different levels. You can estimate a Pokemon's level by looking at the little half circle behind its portrait. The further to the right the bar is filled, the higher the level. The right hand edge of the bar represents the highest level you'll be able to upgrade too, which is equal to your player level. Candy and Dust costs increase as the Pokemon levels up. So to answer your question, its not likely the two Eevee's have the same max CP because they probably have different IVs. In general, you're better off just evolving the higher level of your two pokemons because their are serious diminishing returns on dust and candy and the CP doesn't matter a whole lot. Ditto's aren't useful for anything other than dex entries and one quest.

I have been noticing the -so far- significant jumps in wild pokemon power every level so I haven't really powered up any of them, aside from the natural power ups from evolutions. And I did the evolutions mainly for the discovery XP bonus and pokedex entries. Only time I actually did a power-up was for a pokestop task that rewarded me with an encounter in return. I downloaded Pokemon Genie and can't have helped to feel that I was a little disappointed with my pokes that I prised and felt pride in so much so far. IV-wise, my best is a 289CP Grovyle, with a 91% Excellent IV. 12-15 Atk, 10-15 Def, 15/15 Sta, funny part is he came out of a 5km egg, him and his brother that I made into paste to evolve this one up ![]() The wild Ninetails that I caught on the first night is surprisingly good as well, compared to my other ones. 79% IV Range Too bad it's at only 408CP and the candy are hard to come by, by farming vulpixes and by walking (0.75km compared to Arons' or Geodudes' 0.25km) 1024CP Jolteon that I made from a 540 eevee is only above average and the 990CP Umbreon is just average. My 1311CP Aggron is 70% Good on the IV Scale and an 1258CP Armaldo with a 78% IV Rating. Oh yeah, I also have a Minun and a Plusle at 82% and 85% IV, but they're more cheerleaders rather than fighters. I keep them around because they make me smile. I also have a 1089CP Cradily that Pokemon Genie has no idea how to accurately measure (says 39% - 79% range which is a huge disparity) but the appraisal I do in-game with the Instinct Master says "He can battle with the best of them" and "its stats are the best I've ever seen" so I'll take his word for it that its probably closer to 79% rather than 39%. That's my rant, I guess its not all that bad. Hunting perfect IVs is probably part of the fun and I never expected to get perfect pokemon from the start =) I'll just quietly but surely advance on that level 20 and then aim for 30! Another question: does the time of the day matter to pokemon? Are some nocturnal? I know weather does. My point is even though I'm an adult male I'd rather not walk through parks at 1 am trying to hunt down ghastlys to get a gengar or the like.

The XP is real nice, but its thanks in large part to the bonuses from the special week. No way in hell could I have gone up 20 levels in exactly 7 days of playtime, 2-3h a day. I have also acquired a small army of kabutos, omanytes, geodudes and anoriths. I probably have enough to invade a small country. Although I haven't been so lucky with the field research from pokestops. Frankly, I'm missing 2: Evolve an Omanyte or Kabuto for an Aerodactyl, and Spin 2 PokeStops you haven't visited before for an Onix. The bad part is... there is literally nothing else in town except for those pokes. Even the eevee numbers in my local park and the pidgeys and rattatas numbers are put to shame when compared to the plague that is kabutos and omanytes. I was never a big fan of Hoenn pokemon because in gen 3 they started to look more... like objects I guess? And less like a mix of caricature animals compared to gen 1 and 2. I'm dying here to catch some charmanders, pikachus, gastlies or even gen 2 starters like totodile.

They'll rotate out for something else in a week or two. Parks are "nests" where each spawn point will have a 25% chance to spawn a specific nesting Pokemon - the species of which rotates every other Wednesday, so keep an eye on the park, it'll change soon.

On your cradily, PokeGenie can read the appraisal things and use them to improve its guess. It's on the medal icon on the overlay. That said, don't worry about IVs at all. If it's got better CP, just use it, because nothing you catch now will be relevant in 5 levels anyway. If you're really keen then you could keep stuff that's 90%+ in case you want to power them up later. The number one thing to get in your head for Go is that pokemon are disposable. In the handhelds you love and cherish and train them, and they stay with you forever. In Go you capture them, work them until they're too weak to fight anymore, and then grind them into paste to feed to the next contender. Also yes, the kabuto plague right now is just the event. Once it's over the spawns will go back to normal, and you should get more diversity. The weather makes a huge difference as well.

This should in the long run give me stronger and rarer pokes than just farming pokestop lures. I did get the 2 special event field reserches I mentioned above that I was missing. I got the onix and the aerodactyl. But they're both kinda ass. Onyx is 445CP and the Aerodactyl 1045CP, not to mention I don't have candy for them. I also caught a Zapdos! It was a "reward encounter" for doing 7 pokestop field researches in a row. It's only 1445CP but I am extremely happy with it, since it looks like a raid Zapdos would be extremely hard to me to acquire with my current level and pokemon CP levels (highest being 1799CP Golem and then an Alola Eggsecutor that I caught today at 1651CP). edit: And yes, I realize it's futile to keep any pokes I have currently before I hit trainer level 30 because they'll just be infinite stardust and candy sponges in the long run and I should just focus on highest CP possible now.

I'm level 24,5 as a Trainer and decided to do some Tier 1 and 2 raids solo (since I can't find anybody to play with in my small city). From the water event going on right now, I farmed enough starters to get myself a Blastoise, Feraligatr and a Swampert, not to mention a seemingly endless stream of magikarps and shellders. Problem is, I can't break 1700CP with them fully evolved. My cornerstones being right now are a 2100CP Golem and a slightly higher Aggron. I obviously want more and better pokes, but it seems like I can't get any reasonable ones safely by myself. I wanted to try a solo Machamp raid or Vaporeon to catch them, but I'm failing miserably with what I got. I can barely do T2 raids with about 10-15s to spare. How do I progress from here on forward? Do I just grit my teeth and hatch eggs and evolve en masse with lucky eggs on and only start to assemble a team past trainer level 30, or can I do something else now? I go to wordpress and silph road and they recommend counters to T3 raids, but I have none of them, lol. I'd love a mewtwo or an alakazam or gengar to bully T3 raids solo, but all I got to work with is 1 Golem, 1 Aggron, 1 Blaziken, 1 alola executor and a 2000CP Omastar... Do I just wait for raids to cycle back to charmander/bulbasur or what?
