But they're not bad calls and you should be judging him based on the merits of his strats instead of just saying, 'Oh his team would be successful even if he was bad,' because that's absolutely silly (and wrong because NBK and shox were not nearly as successful leading the team).
But the initial setups do help his players consistently win duels because 1) they put them in a good position to win the duel and 2) even if the first player doesn't win the duel, they can trade out the guy which is exactly what you should be doing on the T side.
You're not giving the strategy enough credit. When they're on Cobble and they put pressure across the map with two long A and one mid and force the other team to play three A, and then send two out on B platform because they know only one player is holding by site while one is holding drop and then isolate and trade out the guy on site, that's a read and a great call.
Or when they're on Cache and put pressure on A and B for five rounds straight and then the next round they send three out mid because they know there's only going to be one CT holding mid and get the trade off them, that's a good read and call.
It's the classic divide and conquer, spreading out the other team and hitting the vulnerable spots. It's a legitimate strat. It's something any team from Fnatic, TSM, Na`Vi, VP, NiP and Cloud9 could do but nV does it the most because that's their style and it fits them. It's certainly not a bad call and if you don't think other top teams could pull it off with their players then I'm not sure what to say.
Happy's late game calls vary immensely. Watch any game--it'd be hard to pull off the same thing over and over again otherwise. Late mid control into a split site take, a straight up execution, rushing one or two into a site to pull the rotation and then executing onto the other site... these are some very standard things that for some reason, when another IGL pulls it off it's amazing, but when nV do it it's called "lol rush b."
