im a wow noob so bear with me here
my friend wants to make a priest or a hunter to play with me. id rather have him play a hunter and need some help with my argument.
my argument consists of: 1. im warlock and priest takes my god damn items. 2. he gets a cat and a gun and traps and stuff 3. hunter doesnt have to heal noobs in dungeon
our only real goal is to slay elves and midgets in ashenvale and stv. we dont really care about doing instances or easy soloing or shit like that.
i also dont have an idea of why priest would be good for pvp so maybe i could be convinced in the other direction.

Why are you paying a monthly fee to 'slay elves and midgets in ashenvale and stv'?
That aside, if you're only playing for fun, let him pick whatever class he wants.
And good priests rock pvp.

priests won't take your items; shadow priests will but you only suffer alot much much later (in raids which you say you don't care about)
and if you have no idea how to pvp you won't make far in STV anyways which seems to be the case here
and if you gank the wrong people in STV, be prepared to be corpse camped yourself.
and if all you do is gank your gear will equal crap therefore you will fail at ganking anyways

the question which apparently i left out is whether hunter or priest is better for pvp.
|
Shadow Priest > Hunter in pvp. Hunter > holy/disc Priest in pvp.

lol he just showed me some shadow priest killing a warrior in 1 hit so i think hes gonna make priest
also i realized who gets items in barrens really isnt that important.

i like the warcraft universe and playing the game but it makes me angry that some elf can kill me just because i picked warrior for a class. we felt it was sort of silly to specialize in pve when even a shaman can do it without too much trouble.

Having somebody who can heal you will help significantly more than a 2nd dps when you're fighting groups bigger than yours.

thats only true if you can control the fight draeger, if you can't might as well dps one of them down...
and players play the toons, just like in starcraft players play the races, it doesnt matter what class you are and what class they are.

Priest will help you to control the fight more than a hunter.

Priest will help you level.
Theres no point in theorycrafting 1v1 pvp for warcraft when the most pvp he'll be likely getting to any time soon is being attacked in stv or fighting over mobs in ashenvale. And earth shock is evil.

I can guarantee you that without a healer, you won't be killing more than a few at once. A warlock is overpowered enough that he can dot everything up, chain fear, and keep things under control. The priest is there to shield and heal. Not being able to regain your life bar means that if you are trying to chain kill enemies, you won't be able to. Further, the priest can tell the warlock to lifetap if he's low on mana and can instantly restore those hitpoints.
It does matter about classes in wow, though. If you take the huge 1sided matchups and placed 2 of those classes against each other, the outcome would still be 1 sided. For instance, 2 warriors vs 2 mages, or two mages vs two warlocks. However if you change things around and now have a warrior and a shaman against 2 mages, you now have a much more balanced fight. Healing is huge in wow and the classes that can heal themselves and provide some dps are even more valuable than most of the pure dps classes.

i dont play wow, but my friend plays a priest and often complain how imba hunter is. from what i understand, priest is a pain in the ass when ... creeping (cant remember the right term) on higher levels. also said that hunther is his worst enemy in pvp, some of them can 1-hit him if they get a crit.
but from what i understand priest/warlock is the deadliest combo in all of wow.
god, wow is all-present. cant even grab a beer/cofee without hearing bout it. i know about wow more than about war3 which i play often and watch reps.

Many classes have their vices. WoW really isn't balanced for 1v1 pvp.

did you stop playing in 2.02? With the right mm/surv build you 2-3 shot any type of priest.
edit: no wow is poorly balanced in 1v1 pvp but then again blizzard says its intended for "group pvp" bleh.. And imo warrior paladin > Priest lock, but mabye thats just me

Priests melt faces, hunters do not.

when you buy wow do you get a free trial or something?

you get a 10day trial which has limited settings on the account such as no mail and no auction housing (mainly to prevent farmers from storing their stuff in numerous free trial accounts).

what are u talking about
hunters are like the best for lvling
and in 1v1 battle i think hunter is prolly the strongest class right now
