This time, properly :D You will be happy to know then that hit rolls appear to no longer be predetermined at the start of the round. You can keep reloading until you actually hit that 10% shot.

Nah I'm not that much of a scumbag to keep reloading on that 10% shot, but when my soldiers are veteran with good ranks and decent weapons like lazer or plasma rifles and they miss a 95% shot on a say, 12th mission I do become a little miffed. When I have rookies I do take that kind of error into consideration and usually come face to face to have a good hit chance or alternatively have another solider in range for a nade/rocket launcher shot in case the 1st guy fails.

i felt dirty playing on peasant normal, back to classic

Was doing a defend an objective mission after the first terror mission, everything was going well. Then reinforcements jumped on top of me while i was engaging a pod. Pod was almost dead so thought i could take em on, overwatched. But unfortunately more than i hoped for came down, a MEC, lancer and a trooper. Wiped in the next 2 turns. Had been bleeding troops on earlier missions and had only 3 troopers left in med bay so a restart is in order

Spent two hours creating custom characters last night before bed - still have yet to actually start the campaign.
But, I'm also between video cards (replacement is in transit) and I can barely run the game with onboard graphics at 20fps with all minimum settings. So maybe it's a good thing I'm being a little patient with starting, and making sure my character pool is nice and diverse

you know what would have been cool, if they made the commander not simply captured, but instead coming from the alternate xcom1 universe where he rekt the alien invasion and as a aftermath of the psi battles got sucked into xcom2. Would make the whole commander as a last hope thing better and also make us feel good about xcom1.

played 2 hours after released last night only had 1 bug where it was supposed to be one of those alien reaction cut scene during combat but instead the whole screen went black for a couple of seconds.

I am noticing though, that 80-99% shots miss soooooo much more.
I moved a soldier to where he was right next to an enemy so he was flanked and the shot was 88% and it missed. O_O
Other then the much more frequent high shot% misses I'm having alot of fun.

Those damned lancers have been ruining my shit. They just banzai charge anyone in range and crit the shit out of whoever they hit.

lol 1st mission with the generator, access points are all without cover, 1 turn to go and 5 aliens activating when i go near it, RIP
|
Also, theres a slight problem with the Character Pool.
Sometimes soldiers show up with stuff I didn't give them like an eyepatch or a hat. Some of my soldiers also don't have their attitude that I gave them. I give a soldier "Laid Back" and he shows up as "Intense" in the campaign.
Not game breaking or anything just a little annoying :O

Marbozir's(one of the biggest youtubers on xcom) theory on why xcom lost the first war is Vahlen's constant complaints against usage of explosives lol

For those who are a bit into the campaign, is aiming to take the Blacksite around the start of May to early or to late? The way things currently are in my campaign, that seems like the most likely time for me to do Blacksite.

Apparently I'm not alone with this problem. A lot of people can't seem to get it to launch past that launch screen.
I am not a happy bear right now.

People also thought XCOM 1 had a rigged RNG. It didn't. Remember that a 90% about is expected to miss 1 in 10 times.
Beware of that confirmation bias ~

it's like complimenting a woman, tell her she's pretty 99 times and she won't remember, tell her she's fat and ugly once and she'll remember forever (because elephants have excellent memory)
likewise we only remember the 1 shot we miss but not the ones we didn't miss.

My biggest albeit still a pretty small annoyance so far is that you can hover over a move location and you will see a small icon on the enemies hitbars telling you whether you have LoS to them at that location. Fairly often I can't actually fit the enemy on the same camera view with where I'm about to move and thus I don't know whether I have LoS there or not.
Either I'm missing some way to work around that or it's just annoying design.

To be fair it was supposed to help with viewing angles when fighting in houses or with those pesky slopes, not to determine vision when being 2 screens away and closing in. For the foremost, rotating the camera helps me in 99% of cases.
For the latter you can count tiles though or get a good feeling of the opponents vision range (~1 screen), there the system fails, yeah. But it's still an improvement over the original one.

screw those stun lancers, my poor rookies just can't hit them. (even if they're right in their face and flanked) welp, that's one campaign lost, game is super hard I am pleased
