I kinda don't know why i'm putting this up in a starcraft forum but there are some CS players out there.

Ronald "Rambo" Kim known for being one of the founding members of 3D, back when it was known as x3. Also known for many clutch plays and being pretty consistent. After five and half years thousands of scrims, and tens of thousands of hours of game play Ronald “Rambo” Kim, one of the founding members of Team 3D, is leaving to join compLexity. Ronald helped make Team 3D one of the most accomplished and well known professional gaming teams in the world.

This is what he had to say "I joined coL because i feel like we have the roster with the most talent and dedication... I was not offered anything to join coL. I just want a championship team"

He was offered less money but feels like this team can go far. He is also switching from 1.6 to Source because of DirectTV. DirectTV is hosting CS:Source Tournaments on TV and trying to popularize esports

Rambo's Thoughts on DirectTV and Source
http://www.gotfrag.com/cs/forums/thread/261075/

coL's new roster
frOd(One of the best Awpers)
rAmBo(Clutch and a great leader)
Storm(Good and Great Aiming)
Warden(Clutch player)
Zet(Great aim and Great with Rifles)

IMHO I KINDA(just a little bit) consider him a sellout. He was my favorite player and I loved to watch him play. Whenever a demo came out of him I always would download it and watch it.

I mean if you've spent five and half years playing for the same team and start losing would you leave?

DirectTV's new tournament plans sound interesting and promising for the future of CS in america and the world.

I would guess his decision is probably more then just running to a team that is not losing atm but more a move to place him in a better position for what he thinks the future will be.

I would also guess that he wants to be one of the first pioneers to popularize esports in the USA. Kinda like in Korea.

Rambo is by far my favorite cs player. He has been on the top since day one with X3 and he's consistent, CLUTCH and smart as fuck. It's a bit sad that he leaves 3D after so many years, and especially for a team like col -_- but oh well I think he made the right decision as 3D seems to be made of players who dont really want to win.

And he's not a sellout, col has definitely more ambitions than 3D and a champ like Rambo deserves nothing but the best team mates.

The big surprise for me was zet, i mean wow who would've expected a swede in coL ? ^^

Zet has probably one of the hottest m4's in the cs world. As for Rambo, as been a solid constant performer since the x3. Team 3D will probably get Ksharp back.
So i did a 9 pool on an island map, so what?

Clutch means nothing, it only means something to chobo's who are afraid of virtual bullets. If you aim good you aim good, 1 vs 5 shouldnt even faze a pro.

clutch means you win important rounds by yourself when you're the last man standing (1v1/1v2/1v3/etc)

"start losing"? 3D has been losing for what, 4 years now? Their last "MAJOR" title was CPL winter 2002, that was the last time they were considered no.1, since then they never bounced back, their WCG titles are not in 1.6, most of their achievements are in regional tournaments in America.

Things were starting to look better for this team just a little while ago when they barely lost to attax in WSVG finals, their CPL winter performance wasn't that bad either, they made it out of the death group (fnatic, 3D, col, zex) in the second stage and got beaten by hacker.gm by a small margin in round of 16.

I guess he finally realized this 3D roster, just like the one 3 years ago when they lost to SK in WCG2003 final, will never be a championship team. It's a wise decision he joined col, I hope he will make it in his new team.

Where's that post of that discussion where some guy talked about SC2 and Rambo leaving 3D for coL?

now lets think about it

A lot of things are claimed by in this audio clip:
1) Rambo and Method leave 3D and go to coL
2) coL moves to DirectTV"s source league, leaves 1.6
3) CPL lost all it's sponsors but Razer due to false promises
4) Valve only licensing Source for TV, not 1.6
5) Starcraft2 gets announced 1st half of 07
6) CEVO is 13,000 USD in debt for prizes in their last league
7) DirectTV is offering large contracts for players for their league
8) CEVO's CEO is invested in CS Pro Mod for source
9) "Nobody was happy about Quake 3. Nobody."
There's more...but I forget

Part 1 is true, (sort of, gotfrag says method re-signed with 3D, I guess col did approach them both and after method rejected, he took zet.
Part 2 is true.
Part 4 is probably true, we don't know if directTV wanted to host 1.6 tournament themselves.
Part 7 is true.
Part 8, it can be true, they mentioned CSP in gotfrag.

Now, if these are indeed reliable, we have a bad news at part 3, and part 5, I don't know what to think, chances are SC2 won't live up to SC1 and you get split communities at the Korean scene, unlike WC3, SC2 actually bears the same name as SC. Even if SC2 proves to be good enough for most people, some hardcore players will probably still be staying with SC, in conclusion, this is bad.

Blizzard is damaging the esport industry by doing this.

no, his team did not suck. 3D didn't really suck. they just never lived up to the hype garnered on paper due to a roster of living legends.

anyone claiming sc2 will be a bad thing is absolutely nuts.

unless sc2 is really awful (which no blizzard game in the last 9 years has been), it will only improve it.

hurt the future of esports? sc is NOT the future. would anyone really argue against that? no current blizz game is. no current rts is. it can only help unless it really is unfathomably awful.
